Scarlet thread, story of how our past ancestors can guide us even today to truth, it explored self revelation, forgiveness and ability to take steps to change. It showed how God takes us through steps of reconciliation for our good and eventually for the other party involved.
Leotas Garden was an emotional tale of a grandmother's relationship with her grand daughter and how their relationship led to a reconciliation between grandmother and her daughter. Explored the themes of forgiveness and reconciliation.

Leota once had a garden which she escaped to and she tried to teach her children in this garden. As she grew old she could no longer care for it. Her grown children wanted nothing to do with her, in fact they despised her for the childhood that, "they remembered."
Her "spiritual granddaughter" comes along, meets Leota, loves her, learns the lessons of the garden, life and more of God. Life takes on new meaning for Leota again and then he children learn Her truths, but us too late!
Great book for me as I related to my own like and children and how 2 of them feel about me and remember their childhood. Will it also be too late for them? ABSOLUTELY MUST READ! Thank you Francine!

That was an awesome two book, I'm not going to reveal anything for the sake of those who want to read this book which I highly recommend. It build the faith in Christ and it's just overall awesome. I found my self laughing, crying at the same time. Leota is such a lovable character, all of them were. I'm giving a solid 5 stars. Good writing Francine Rivers you really have mastered the true art of writing. May God continue to use you to touch others through your books.

First, I read the book, Leota's Garden. Again Fancine Rivers did a superb job with making characters you can identify with. I love how she reveals the characters slowly, giving us a desire to see their inner struggles get resolved, enabling us to finally experience them "coming home".

Four months later, I read the Scarlet Thread. I loved hearing about characters that experience many of life's troubles and are led in the end to understand, forgive, and turn to the Lord. The woman in the 90's isn't so different from a pioneer woman who traveled out West in the early 1800's. Francis River's writing style is easy to follow. The life and historical periods and places are believable and familiar.

Thinking I was in for a treat, I started reading The Scarlet Thread over Thanksgiving break. Alas. River's Christian novel seems more a work of personal therapy and predictable soap opera wrapped in a cloak of unexpected misogyny. Except for the journal of a pioneer woman, Scarlet Thread is quite unlike the very readable Unfailing Love. I'm happy to let Leota's Garden grow weeds.

Started out really bland. I stopped reading it for a while and when I finally got into it I really enjoyed it! Being a married woman it certainly made me appreciate and want to love my husband better!
