It's springtime and Mo is planting a seed in his garden. But seeds need a lot to water, dirt, sunshine, and especially love! With novelty elements like pull-tabs and spinning wheels on every spread, kids are sure to love watching this particular seed bloom.
I write and illustrate books for children, and nothing makes me happier! I enjoy finding the sweet spot between funny and heartfelt, and creating characters that feel like real people, even if they are toads or ducks.
This book expresses all of the main ideas about what plants need to grow. Children will love learning these concepts through the rich illustration, and story. There are many pull tabs that will hold children attention to greater lengths of time.
As a person who has taught first grade, I know that seeds and plant growth fascinate young children--it's like magic to them. This book is a wonderful introduction for pre-schoolers to the scientific side of this topic.
The pig, Mo, is adorable--but every page also offers a "prize" for young kids in the form of pull tabs, spinning wheels, and other interesting paper engineering feats. Most kids in this age group LOVE the interaction of a pop-up/activity book. Pictures are vibrant and interesting and will engage young children. This author knows her age group--and is a wonderful paper engineer and artist! Highly recommended!!
A simple, small book with movement gimmicks. However, I need simple for my lap time programs and the theme for summer reading is "Dig Into Reading!" 5/14/13
Wish I had room for a program collection. Very well received (small group due to rain), but it has already gotten hard usage and is starting to fall apart.
What does a seed need is a book about how to plant trees and plants. The book discusses the basic necessities that the seed needs in order to be a successful plant or tree. I rated this book high because it told us important information.
