I was excited to finally read a book by Ruth Montgomery. I enjoy hearing about ideas that are "out there", and I always give them all of the benefit of the doubt. Until I came to this sentence..."as long as we have people in authority...supporting those who prefer welfare to work, and giving little thought to those laboring under the yoke of heavy taxation in order to support the wastrels". She said this only pages after having quoted scripture, saying "Judge not, lest ye be judged". That is when I put the book down and set it and her other book I had bought aside to be donated or, better yet, thrown in the garbage. I am sure that those on the other side would never be so judgemental as to assume that everyone on welfare is a "wastrel". Therefore, I am sure that this woman had no more contact with the other side than she did with reality. Disgusting.

This book has been on my “to-read” list for sometime as research for my novel. Other than the information about walk-ins (which was what I was seeking and was helpful), the rest of the book was largely useless as it was largely about the coming nuclear disaster of the eighties, the pole shift of the nineties, (I’m going to assume we somehow averted both because the Doctor saved us) and Randian rants disguised as messages from beyond. Funny that her guides chose to focus on welfare instead of the military budget or corporate handouts as the source of heavy taxation given that they are supposed to be pro-peace. Whether or not the information was channeled, you can’t get clean water out of dirty pipes. I have to say, having listened to (and read) a great deal of information from other people’s non-corporeal guides, this read more like a propaganda piece than guidance from beyond.

June 28, 2020um, whut? is my first reaction to this book. I read this because I thought it showed promise on a topic I was interested in researching. Well, I can't say I got much out of it. Lots of Ruth's personal opinions masquerading as information from the "Guides." As other reviewers called it, tons of bullshit propaganda.
I'm not sure how many were into her books when they were published, but this one has really not aged well.

I have walked the spiritual path for a long time. Indeed this is a book thay finds those who are ready for its spiritually advanced truths and New Age revelations.
Finally the day arrived.
I was picking up trash on the roadside with my Boy Scout troop.
I spotted an empty Schlitz beer box.I picked it up. Some thing heavy was inside.

A book.
It was this book.
The back cover mentioned Walk-ins. And the nuclear winter. Pole shift. Rising of the lost continent of Atlantis. California will siNK.
I was intrigued.
I started reading the miNute I got home.
Walk-ins.
Ruth informs us that there are spiritually advanced beings who take over the bodies of people who are ready to go.to go as in die. Not from old age but from bad life circumstanceà.
People who plan to kill themselves no longer have to. All they have to do is pray and the spiritual beings will hear.
THey will take over your body and life . Then your soul can leave the body and go to heaven.
And it was all true. Her spirit guides told her through automatique typing. That's even more advanced than automatique writing.
Ruth is a prophet.
This is just what I needed. My parents were sexually abusing me, and there was nothing I could do about it. Tell some body and I would not be believed. My father would send me to reform school where I would be beaten and raped even worse than I already had it. Besides I was toô ashamed to tell anyone.
I was ready to kill myself. My father's guns were in the next room.
I knew Walk-ins were the answer.
I was 10. . I had good grades. I was more than half way through childhood. 6 more years until college.
Any Walk-ins would just havé hang on for those 6 years that i knew were would be hell on earth. They were spiritually advanced and would be able to handle it. Maybe even get the parents to stop abusiNG me.
They would be happy to take over my body.
I prayed. I'M done. This body, this miserable life is yours for the taking, Walk-ins. Just get me out of here. I'M truly sorry I was born. This hell iwas not in my soul contract.
I prayed that prayer every day.For those 6 long horrible years. I meditated. I did yoga. Everything I coud to get their attention.
Not a peep out of the Walk-ins.
At some point I realized if they were real, every prisoner would give up his body for a walkin. Every abuse victim. Litteraly bil lions would opt out.
That and California is still here .no nucléaire war.
No pôle shift. Nothing
Ruth has a 100% failure rate.
That's worse than guessing.
I also realized that she’s parotting Ayn Rand's republicanisM.
It's cruel to offre false hope to desperate people.
Especially hateful is that she tells us that children who are molested by their parents are being molested as punishment for something they did in a past life. She says they deserve to be molested and that the parents are doing god's will and will be rewarded.
It's safe to say Ruth is a fraud and a vile woman. Her agenda is money.
Reading other reviews, I see a solid half of them believe in her .
How ? Why? Their belief in obvious scammers and charlatans is a sad reflection on the alleged intelligence of the public.
It’s 2021. Nothing she predicted happened.
She is a false prophet.

A devastating nuclear war in the 1980s and a polar shift in 2000 — these are among Montgomery’s predictions. Her evolved guide appears to be very right wing. Montgomery made a lot of money selling the New Age to conservatives. I knew her name but never tried to read her books. Now I know why. I did learn, however, that the rich in America are very hard workers while the poor are just lazy.

Unsure when I read this. Probably sometime early 1970s. These were very interesting reads, much to think about, & broadens one's view on life.

MONTGOMERY INTRODUCES THE IDEA OF ‘WALK-INS,” AND MORE
Ruth Shick Montgomery (1912-2001) was a journalist and syndicated columnist in Washington, DC., who later became a psychic who wrote a number of metaphysical books (sometimes through ‘automatic writing’), and claimed that she could communicate with medium Arthur Ford after his death.
She wrote in the Foreword to this 1979 book, “Benjamin Franklin was a Walk-in, and like all such advanced souls he brought in with him Awareness. Because of this special quality, he perfectly understood the illusion of what we term ‘living,’ and the reality of the greater life that we call ‘death.’ … Dr. Franklin… also believed in Reincarnation… This book, through the aid of the Guides, will also take a long look forward to life one thousand years hence.”
She explains, “There are Walk-ins on this planet. Tens of thousands of them. Enlightened beings, who, after successfully completing numerous incarnations, have attained sufficient awareness of the meaning of life that they can forego the time-consuming process of birth and childhood, returning directly to adult bodies. A Walk-in is a high-minded entity who is permitted to take over the body of another human being who wishes to depart… a Walk-in must never enter a body without the permission of its owner…” (Pg. 11)
She states, “The Guides say … ‘The New Age has begun, but will not be fully recognized as such until the shift of the axis has eradicated some of the evils of the present age… This New Age is the millennium of which the Bible speaks, when all of mankind are brothers without regard to race, sex, or creed…” (Pg. 30-31)
She comments, “I do not pretend to be an expert on UFOs, or on any other aspect of the psychic world beyond our three-dimensional earth. I can only pass along to readers, hopefully more advanced than myself, the information that my Guides seem to consider important to mankind’s upward spiral… the Guides have identified three different types of beings who have achieved sufficient advancement to enter our earth plane, and appear in solid form to us, without submitting to the normal process of birth and babyhood.” (Pg. 147)
She says, “Those fine people who correct the utterances of children slow their imagination and teach them the same fallacies which they themselves have been spoon-fed throughout their lives… Since Walk-ins, by skipping childhood, are able to avoid this conditioning, they bring in awareness intact, and are thus more easily able to keep themselves within the Flow.” (Pg. 150)
She argues, “As for the Moonies [Rev. Moon’s Unification Church]… they are an abomination. Any justifiable group would welcome visits from parents … so that they could define for others the objectives of the group… David Adler… was rescued in early 1978 by his parents from a Moonie group and has since been speaking out against this cult, classifies as equally dangerous such sects as Maharaj Ji’s Divine Light Mission, Hare Krishna, the Children of God, Synanon, the Church of Scientology, and Jews for Jesus…” (Pg. 181-182)
She reports, “Then they [the Guides] made another electrifying statement: ‘There will be a President of the United States in the latter part of this century who is a Walk-in, and he will be of inestimable value in preparing for the shift of the axis, taking precautionary measures to store records, readying safe quarters for officialdom, and directing others to areas that he will realize are to be saved from destruction.” (Pg. 207-208)
In the last chapter, she wrote, “The Guides for many years have ben prophesying that Christ will return to earth in human form during the twenty-first century. I asked if they could be more definite as to the timing, and they wrote: ‘The one who will prepare the body for the Christ Spirit will be born within two years after the Antichrist is put to death. We are not yet able to say where that birth will occur…’ I eagerly asked if he would be recognized as the Savior this time, and how long he would remain in physical body, ‘When the Christ enters it will be known to all… for so many signs will point to his coming that there will be no question this time.’” (Pg. 251)
She concludes, “Naturally I wanted to know what would happen after the promised thousand years of peace, but the Guides replied: “Beyond that thousand years we are unable to predict, for it has not opened out, and may depend on factors thus far unknown to such earthlings as ourselves. It is not feasible to go beyond that period, for God’s will is not shown beyond the millennium of which we speak.’ And on that note, the Guides drew the curtain on the world to come.” (Pg. 255)

I used to read books like this when I was a kid in the 80s and early 90s and found them generally scary and/or fascinating. Now I read them for "fun" mostly, sometimes there are little trinkets of wisdom in there too. I think the author of this book meant well, but her ideas haven´t aged well... to say the least.
The stuff that these "spirit-guides" were saying through RM reminded me of the stuff spirits used to tell me and my friends about when we were playing with a ouija board back in the day. They often wove a good yarn and as children we were easily influenced and willing to "listen". These were not some highly evolved spirits trying to bring forth wisdom for the human race and neither are all these supposed spirit-guides who deceive adults. I won´t go as far as to call them evil spirits, they were probably not demonic but they are of the lower dimensions and full of lies and bs. Having all these mediums, gurus and channellers hanging on their every word during this era must have been so thrilling for them.
The "new age" stuff was never anything more than a fairy tale, and the only predictions for world affairs that have and are consistently coming true are the prophecies of the Bible. If people want to know the truth and be prepared for the end of days then they should read that book, it´s really incredibly simple and easy.

I only got partway through this. Montgomery gets messages by "spirit writing" or "automatic writing." This is how she "knows" that there are spirits among us. I did some Google research and saw that Montgomery's method resulted in a number of predictions that did not pan out. But, for me, the problem with the notion that advanced life forms join with earthly bodies and walk among us is that there is too little evidence in today's world of them doing much good.

This book is for those that have walked the spiritual path long enough to understand the possiblities of the unknown. If you are ready for this book, it will find you. Until then, what is inside will remain a mystery until you are ready for it.

Was a bit much to process in the beginning regarding walk ins/suicide but the book was great, really opened my mind spiritually and prepared me for "The Shift" that we are going through globally. I love Ruth Montgomery's books.
