هل هذا كتاب أطفال؟
إنه أفضل كتاب فلسفي قرأته هذه السنة.

الفكرة بسيطة وبديعة، وثمة رسالة عميقة لكن منسوجة بعناية في الأحداث بحيث لا تلقن الطفل "العبرة" أو "الفائدة"، بل تترك أمر اكتشافها له.
الغلاف ظلم العمل، كان بالإمكان يكون أجمل. كما أن هناك بضع كلمات عاميّة قد تصعّب على الطفل غير المصري الاندماج في العمل.

But this is such a delightful book, for grown-ups and children, in the manner of the best Seuss books (Lorax, for instance). A wonderful triumph at the end that you'll want to read towards again and again.

هذه القصة الجميلة من الداخل المليئة بالرسوم التي تشبهني والأفكار الملهمة يمكنك أن تقرأها أو تكتفي بمطالعة الرسوم الموزعة بين كلمات القصة وتعجب باختيار حجم الخط وتوزيع جملها بقياسات مختلفة من أجل أن تعرف مالذي حدث في قرية النقطة السوداء وما هي قصة الفتافيت ، وكيف أنه لا يجب أن نكون ناضجين كفاية من أجل أن تكون لدينا حلول جديدة .

من لأجمل ما قرأته لابنتي هذا العام ، كتاب يدفع للتفكير و الابتكار ، للايجابية و البحث عن الحلول ، عن العمل الجماعي و روح الفريق، عن الصبر
أحببته كثيراً ، و النهاية رائعة ، هلم نفكر من جديد :)

الإيجابية والمواجهة والإصرار والتعاون هم سبيلنا الوحيد للخلاص والقضاء علي الأزمات بمختلف أنواعها الفردية والعامة والاجتماعية والسياسية والاقتصادية.
كتاب رائع في معناه وبساطته.

كتاب اخترته عشوائيا من بين مئات الكتب للأطفال في معرض الكتاب لسببين، الاول هو اعجابي برسمة الغلاف، و الثاني هو وجود "بادج" على الغلاف لفوز الكتاب بإحدى جوائز كتب الأطفال.
قصة رمزية رائعة تحمل الكثير من المعاني، و التي اكتشف معنى جديد لها مع كل قراءة للقصة مع أطفالي قبل النوم.

Book Review Submission: Noreen Salem

When the kids wake up one day to find a large black dot taking up a great amount of space in their garden, they all stand in confusion wondering where it came from and what they can do with it. The kids make amusing and creative attempts at coming up with the origins of the black dot and ways they can use it, inducing the reader to also work their brain trying to figure the problem out. However, the kids soon realize that there really is no answer to where the dot came from and that there is nothing they can really use it for. Any time they come up with a use for it, they realize that it’s not a good idea as the ideas they come up with are either dangerous or exclude part of their community. They also try to get rid of it by various means such as scaring it or attempting to pop it with a needle, but regardless of all their creative solutions, they fail at getting rid of it. Finally, They settle to use it as a home base for their game of hide and seek and leave it to take up a large space from their garden, limiting their ability to play. Marwan doesn’t like this, though, and kicks at the black dot in frustration. This causes the black dot to crumble. Marwan realizes that he could chip away at the black dot, and tells the rest of the kids about it. He asks them to team up and chip at the black dot, but they all think it’s a useless and tiring task. Marwan decides to do it anyway and begins the tedious task of doing so. At first, he is the only one working day and night to get rid of the black dot, but soon one of his friends joins him, as she admits that she too is tired of the black dot taking up so much space and limiting her options to play, and that she admires Marwan’s hard work. As they work together, side-by-side, others start joining them as they too grow restless and tired of the black dot. Soon enough, the black dot is gone, leaving crumbles behind.
Even though I am 21 years old and the book targets children, I still found it a fun and meaningful read. I highly enjoyed looking at the illustrations as they were very attractive to my eyes. I liked how silly the illustrations were, and enjoyed spending time analyzing them and reading the amusing sentences written within them. They added a lot of character to the story and the kids. What I understood from the book is that this is a story about not settling for something that disturbs your community, the power of leading by example, and the power of teamwork. I believe that the author was trying to make the reader aware of the importance of community and community-building, where solutions to problems should not exclude sub-groups of the community. Moreover, threats to the community must not be left unresolved. Even if it takes a lot of time and effort, even if it means working alone, individuals should seek to do the right thing and benefit their community. Soon enough, someone will be inspired by their efforts and join the cause. As more and more people become inspired, there will be a team of people working together to achieve their common goal.

“لا يهم إذا كان الحل سهلا أو صعبا..المهم أن نجد الحل.” على الرغم من بساطة الفكرة إلا أن عمقها يفوق الحد وتؤكد على أهمية التفكير الخلاق وروح المبادرة (حتى لو كانت فردية في البداية) والمثابرة والعمل الجماعي وعدم فقدان الأم

ابن أختي قرأ لي القصة، أعتقد أنه تعلم المثابرة بالفعل لأن القصة كانت طويلة بالنسبة له- مروان صار واحد من معارفنا و شي عادي تسمعع عبارة مثل : تتذكر كيف مروان فكر و اخذها حبة حبة؟
