An extraordinary story of inspiration and courage. When Doug and Julie Wagstaff invited Randy and Helen Hall to join them on a week-long vacation in Mazatlan, Mexico, it seemed like a welcome break during a stressful time. The two families would travel to Mexico in the Wagstaffs' private plane, and Doug was an experienced pilot. Who would have guessed a dream vacation would turn into a nightmare?
En route a sudden winter storm coated the plane with ice and brought it down in the mountains of Arizona. Miraculously, all nine people on board survived, although two were seriously injured. From premonitions before the flight, to a remote rescue in hazardous terrain, to the Lord's hand in the families' healing, this book will inspire every reader.
It is rare that I can say "I couldn't put it down" but I couldn't put this book down. I also don't give many books 5 stars but I did with this one. It isn't written by seasoned writers, It was written by ordinary people with power and love which many greatly written books lack. This is a true story written by the people who experienced it. The Hall's state the they initially wrote this book for their family and friends but soon realized that the world needed to hear their story.
Now this review may be long and full of what may sound like flighty things, but I need to say them.
First, I work at a library. Randy Hall came in one day to our library and asked if we carried this book. I did a computer search and assured him we did. Then, I realized he was the author. I live in a small town, and these people are from my community. Although, I don't know them well, I know of them and attended school with their kids.
This story talks about two families, The Wagstaff's and The Hall's. I have heard this story (being from a small community news travels fast) Nine months after it happened from the mouth of the Wagstaffs ,in a Church Young Women camp out. I remember the story of faith and feeling the love of God as I heard the Wagstaff's share their experiences. It was a powerful meeting that I still remember it well years and years later. I have written a novel (which one day I might share with the world) and my main character is the soul survivor a plane crash in a small private plane. A lot of my details and insights for my character and her plane crash experience came from this story I heard years ago.
Since I have written a story about a plane crash survivor (from a small engine plane) I put this book on a list of books I want to read. Knowing my library carried it I always knew it was available. Strangely, I have been thinking about this book a lot lately and I kept hearing the voice "You need to read this book" Well I have tons of books to read and didn't think much of it. I am currently working on another novel (which- again I might share with the world someday) and my main character is a pilot who owns his own charter company. Even though he is never involved in any crashes, I have been thinking a lot about pilots and especially pilots who usually fly smaller planes.
One day I was checking in books (something I do many many times a day) and this book was in the book drop. However, this was not a library copy. This was either put in our book drop by mistake or was meant as a donation to our library. Whatever its purpose, it came into my hands and I felt a tingle. I walked to my spiritually minded co-worker and I said "I need to read this book" and explained to her the impressions I had. She replied. "Yes you do"
This is a true story I had heard before, but I needed to hear this story again. It was interesting to hear it from the Hall's family perspective as I have heard it from Doug and Julie Wagstaff's lips.
I clearly needed to hear the stories of miracles, of faith and proof that God loves us and is aware of us. I cried sometimes while reading it because the miracles were so real and the power of God was so evident. I have no doubt that there was no coincidences nor luck involved in this story. I am totally convinced that "Divine Intervention" was in every molecule of this story.
If you need a story that will lift you up, make you cry and warm you heart-- this is the one.
This book was truly an incredible read. I have always liked to read about true life experiences. I can tell you that this book will not disappoint the reader. The title is so appropriate! When you read about the accident, that should have claimed the lives of the Wagstaff and Hall families, you know that God and his angels did intervene.
I like how Helen and Randy Hall both told their stories. The viewpoint changes from one to the other throughout the story.I feel that this only made the story of this miracle that much stronger.
This amazing true story of two families' miracles of their survival from a plane crash will keep you on the edge of the seat. I cried as truths I know about angels who watch over us were confirmed through their sensitive writing. I laughed, too, as I felt the struggles of parenting and bring children into your family when the world considers you too old for such nonsense! I have three amazing little NONSENSE children of my own. I had to keep turning pages to find out HOW they survived. And the miracles did not stop there! Pick this book up, and I guarantee you won't put it down.
Loved reading this enpowering story. So wonderful to know that miracles still occur today. I love Helen and Randy's different personalities coming throught the pages. Loved learning to embrace each day, live by example! Powerful!
