Lisa Rusczyk's CHASING THE DARK introduces the dark realm of an artistic drug dealer pursuing her next high. This character-driven novel paints raw and gritty emotions. At times, Melanie pulls the reader along with her stream-of-consciousness that reminds me of Faulkner's work, but Ms. Rusczyk writing is so much more fascinating. Despite the horrors told from drugs to rape to murder, hope and change fills the novel. Through "chasing the dark", the characters find light, love, and happiness. CHASING THE DARK is unlike anything I've ever read. It is refreshing and poignant, and I loved it.
