Barrett has lived almost his entire life cast as the monstrous villain, so imagine his surprise when the strangest Fairy God Mother out there calls on him to protect one of her charges. Not being able to control his other half used to be his biggest problem, but with Lynni in the picture, everything has turned upside down.
Lynni has always known that her destiny was grim because she was different than the rest of her people, but she’d decided long ago to try and make a difference in the world—then she meets Dori and is shocked to find out that nothing is as it appears.
Can these two outsiders navigate the draw they have to each other while trying to out run the roles the rest of the world has given them? Dori will do all she can to make sure they get a second chance, and there’s very little that can keep a goth fairy from getting what she wants.
I absolutely LOVED this story! From the opening pages, Dori had me hooked on her other-worldly mission and the characters and family she brought with her were nothing short of extraordinary… A real fairy godmother? Sign me up…
Lynni was facing the unthinkable and her loneliness was hard to feel. She was an outcast and Barrett knew all about that. Nudged to help her, he soon found she was going to save him instead… Their road to friendship and love was plagued with paranormal shenanigans, some funny and some decidedly not, and all of it was magical…
I laughed, I raged (at the injustices), I cheered (Lynni and Barrett’s romance) and simply wallowed happily in Dori’s quest and her need to make things right. If the ending was a bit abrupt, it certainly left me wanting more. A lot more…
*I happily reviewed this story **Thank you to NetGalley
4/5 stars! This was a fun, silly, and tempting paranormal romance. This story reminded me of Kresley Cole's "Immortal After Dark" in that it had epic world-building, great characters, and didn't take itself too seriously. There's a quest, a hot immortal, and a fairy godmother; what else could you want? Can't wait to read more by this author.
I received an advance review copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
As a person who tends sympathize with the villain Happy Evil After series is my jam. Barrett & Lynni deserve each other and I mean that in the best way possible. But the continued star of the show is Dori. This series is great and I for one can’t wait for Dori’s ancestry and for her HEA with Burton!!!
Just adored Lynni and Barrett. Two lost souls who through each other became their whole selves. Who knew an ogre and one of the strongest djinni would be fated mates. Their story had so many twists and turns. Hot hot intimacy and troubling familial issues. I loved how orchestrative Dori was throughout. I cannot wait for the next one!

A big thank you to NetGalley and Evernight Publishing for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is part of a series, number 2. It reads well as a stand alone. This is definitely a paranormal book! Barrett is part goblin/ogre and is 7 feet tall. Lynni is a djinn without magic. This is a cute fun book to read. 4 stars
I was completely hooked on this story. Ms. Marsh is a gifted author who knows how to "hook" her readers with an amazing story and will make them fall in love with the characters. Lynni and Barrett's road to romance was wonderful and I enjoyed it so much. I still need to see Dori's story though!
