Samara King is the author of over twenty published novels, novellas, short stories and as well as poetry. Since her days of sneaking romance novels to the back of the library in grade school; romance fiction has been a consistent staple in Samara's world, soon after, the desire to write her own tales unfolded.
In 2011, she was nominated for Poet of the Year by African Americans On The Move Book Club and is a member of The Romance Writers of America and several sister chapters.

Herrera's Temptation (First Defense #1) by Samara King

I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.
Larisa knows that she's a great cop. But, being the only woman in her crew, it sometimes makes her think. With the death of her father so recent, Larisa knows that she just needs to plow ahead. When she's given the assignment to go undercover, she jumps at it...until she finds out that she'll have a babysitter in the form of her dad's hot partner. Nicolas has been the star in some of her erotic dreams since she was younger. But, the last thing she wants is him following her around and making her job harder.
The chemistry between Larisa and Nicolas was just OK for me. While I found that their history helped in their "relationship", it also felt somewhat forced. I wanted a more natural flow to their relationship.
Nicolas wants to keep his heart hidden and Larisa thinks that a one off will do the trick. Can either of them figure out that they are what they need? I wishes this was slightly longer - it felt cut off at the end and I wanted more of the couple and their story. It will be interesting to see what happens next.
