Desire, The Founding Fathers...and the courageous women who dare to love them.

Here is how it all begins...

When Eb and Jeremiah Tyler left their father’s ranch five years ago, Maggie Simms thought she’d never see them again. But now they’re back. But different.

In the years they’ve been gone, they’ve become strangers—-hard, cold men she barely recognizes. Dangerous men. But her heart knows them. And knows she’d never survive watching them walk away again, even though they see her as nothing more than the woman they’d helped raise, one who understands ranch life.

Knowing she could never let them suspect that she loves them both, she dreams of marrying one of them and living happily ever after on their father’s ranch. But she’s stunned to learn they have plans of their own-—plans to share her. To take her away from the only home she’d ever known. To a ranch in Oklahoma, called the Circle T. In a town they call Desire.

I loved all 10 books in the Desire Oklahoma series, so I thought I'd give this one the try. It's about the founding fathers who build the town of Desire, Welp, what can I say, I did not like this one AT ALL. First of all, how many frigging times did I need to hear about the whores that Eb and Jeremiah had prior to the h. I swear it was mentioned like every other chapter. They even mentioned the whores in front of the h once...bleh.

Apparently a whore train came through once in awhile and serviced all the guys on the ranch..all I could think about was...

description

Give me a minute whilst I swallow down my vomit. If you're familiar with the Desire series you know these guys are Doms, so ubber controlling, which I loved in the Desire series, but in this one the H's just came across as bullies, and the h was annoying as all hell.

Not sure I am going to bother with the other two in this series...

There is no doubt that this book was out right hot but it also annoyed the hell out of me at times.

I understand its set back a few hundreds years or whatever and men had more control over women back then but Jesus Christ the way Eb and Jeremiah would control Maggie annoyed and frustrated the fuck out of me.

The whole asking for permission from a man to do anything never sat well with me, I'm glad I wasn't born back then the men wouldn't know what hit them lol.

I know she loved both the guys practically her whole life but she pissed me off a lot when she would be annoyed with them one minute then aroused the next. I'm sorry but I don't know one single women who can go from fiercely pissed off with a man to begging him to fuck her, if anything the fuckers would get the silent treatment and get cut off for a month!

The fact that she was so shocked that men changed was stupid. You can hardly expect someone to remain the same way after five years of their absence. Same goes for the men they expected to much from her from the start, they wanted her to openly want them as much as they wanted her without really explaining anything to her.

I don't know what was going through their heads when they legit FORCED her to marry them. Seriously they thought once they where married things would be fine and when the weren't they would use sex as a weapon and weird punishments that just seemed to revolve around slapping her ass.

The whole control over everything that went on in the bedroom was hot and that doesn't bother me in the slightest but being controled at all times is a big no no. And their was times where things just got to cheesy from me.

Eb cupped her jaw, turning her to face him. “Not care for you?” His hand tightened, his face a mask of fury. “I’d give my life to keep you safe. Without question. Without hesitation. Do you know what it felt like to see that board hit you? Do you know that my heart stopped thinking you were dead? Do you know what it felt like to watch you crumble to the ground, or that I prayed the whole time I raced to you? Do you know what it felt like to have you in my arms and you wouldn’t open those blue eyes for me?” Eb gathered her close, burying his face in her hair. “I’d die for you, Maggie. I love you so much I can hardly stand it.” Stunned, Maggie lifted her hand to his hair, holding him against her. “Oh, Eb. Really? You love me that much? You really love me that way?”

Fuck off! Her reply actually made me say that out loud and cringe. Woman up and stop being so damn sappy!

Reply's like that make her sound like a little innocent girl and that was something she didn't want both the guys to see her as. She wanted to be seen as a woman but I found that annoying especially when she complained and acted like a spoiled little bitch.

And what's up with the start of the book, I mean her father had just died and she was upset, then her focus switched from him to the guys when they came back into town. She hardly ever mentioned her father again - who literally was just buried - instead she constantly had Eb and Jeremiah on the brain. Not cool man.

ALSO the cover of this books scares the hell out of me, both the men look really ill. It's just plain creepy.

Lord I just realised how much this book annoyed me..

A very frustrating book - i didnt really knew who i wanted to strangle first, Maggie or Eb and Jeremiah. For two guys that decided to share a wife the jealousy and insecurity of Jeremiah, and even Eb at one point, had no place in the story in my opinion. And then the way they treated Maggie it wasnt really that great. They really expected too much from her from the start, without taking the time to explain anything to her other than Oklahoma is a very rugh place and she needs to be a mule and do whatever they say and if not here comes the spanking...really, i didnt saw them treating her any different than one of Trixie's girls, that were mentioned in the book more than one time. And Maggie is a virgin with no clue on sexual desire, from a time where women were considered loose if they even thought about it. And she was a very frustrating character, doing everything to provoc the men, to gain what, i dont know...them saying i love you? It didnt do her any good, like the author showed a few pages later. I didnt saw her as a character that knew what she wanted all through the story: she was a girl that was keeping the memory of two guys that left their home when she was 16, and inloved with them, for 5 years and when they come back she gets scared cause they look so different and dangereous and doesnt know what to do with herself. For the rest of the book she tryes to get the 26 and 24 year old friends she had back, not realising thats impossibile. She wants to be treated like a woman, but she does acts like a spolied child at times and then gets all surprised when the brothers get angry and call her lil girl and starts with the wierd punishments. I couldnt see the love she has for the men they became in the book. She still thinks about how the guys used to be and treat her years ago when she was still a child. She desires the men they are now, they did managed to make her want them...but for me it was more their bodies not the whole package and its the same with them...they desire her body, but i couldnt see the love they have for her that much in the book. Which might be the point of the book, or the explanation of the title...it all goes back to desire...but i expected a bit of romance and more love with the story also, like in the Desire serie...the reason for reading this book and probably the next ones coming.
Dont hate me for the review.

I wanted a bit more romance and a little less ordering the heroine around but Eb and Jeremiah worked it out in the end. I'm interested to see what more trouble Maggie could get into but I'm not sure that I'm going to continue with the series. It's taken me 9 years to get to this one (I added it in 2010).

Monica's Review

Untamed Desire by Lana Dare shows how a small town in Oklahoma was built on desire for a woman—two men loved her since their early ages. Maggie was around sixteen years of age and learned that the two men she loved were leaving her and did not understand why. To Maggie they had left her, never to return and they just got up and left her alone with her father.

Eb and Jeremiah did not have a choice but to leave her. She was too young and they needed to start a new life without her but they never did stop loving her. They both knew that one day they would return and claim their woman and live happily ever after. After Maggie's father's death she realized that after five years Eb and Jeremiah were returning to Kansas City to help her with her dad's passing, not knowing what was coming.

Lana Dare describes Maggie's fear of losing herself in her own sexual desires for the men she loves but also describes her so well that she does not want to be used only for sexual purposes. She wants Eb and Jeremiah to love her, make her feel wanted, hold her like a husband should. She has a hard time understanding why they treat her like a child and why they want to punish her like a child, but the hard thing is that she also desires it.

Ed and Jeremiah have made themselves every wealthy men and have built a soon to be city and only want to share it with Maggie. Yet they have a lot to learn about Maggie. They have been gone for five years and she is no longer a little girl, she is now a woman. Lana Dare describes Eb and Jeremiah as two doms that believe that they have to enforce laws and punish Maggie for every bad action she makes. Ed and Jeremiah need to remember a woman is fragile and has insecurity, and needs to be handled as a precious thing and they need to learn how to hold her, love her, and tend to her as their wife—not as a prized possession only there for their sexual needs. All three have a lot to learn regarding their new life together and how they are going to make this work for them and how it will impact their new town that they have just named "Desire, Oklahoma."

Read this great book and find out how Maggie, Eb and Jeremiah make a new life work for themselves and try to see if five years of them being apart will make a difference.

I spent a few days trying to write this review and when I gave up for the night last night and try to get some sleep everything I wanted to say or can think of to say just starts popping into my head. I would have crawled my sorry butt back out of bed to write it all out but my husband is awake before the butt crack of dawn to go to work, so I had to wait to wake up and get my chores done before I could start writing this review so here we are on Untamed Desire.

I started with the Desire, Oklahoma series (written under the name Leah Brooke) and then I discover The Founding Fathers (written under name Lana Dare) and well I just had to dive in to the beginning so I could get back to the modern-day version. After all one should always start at the beginning which brings me to Untamed Desire the first in the Desire, Oklahoma: The Founding Fathers. An extremely steamy, erotic story about Maggie and her men, Eb and Jeremiah that is so well written that I found only one small error which a simple period can fix. The steamy, erotic parts are numerous however they don’t over run the storyline to the point of drowning out the plot of the story which I think centers around Maggie, Eb and Jeremiah settling into married life with the addition of Maggie settling into a new location away from the home she has always know. There are few hair-raising moments to go along with the many steamy climatic moments but I think you will enjoy the moments that are definitely foreplay the most.

What I didn’t like about Untamed Desire was the egoistical male chauvinism however accurate it was for the time period. But I think the thing I disliked the most out of the alpha males in this story was how everything about Maggie, even her past was their business while their man whoring past was none of her business, I really hate double standards, it is huge pet peeve of mine but again it is probably a most accurate mentality of the men of that time frame.

Jae’s Review:

I fell in love with Desire, Oklahoma, which is Leah Brooke’s very first book in that series. When I saw this series – Desire, Oklahoma: The Founding Fathers – I was immensely intrigued. I couldn’t wait to see how Desire, the town, got its start.

Untamed Desire had much to live up to, but I can assure you that this story is well worth reading and certainly lives up to any pre-conceived notions that I had for this historical novel. Even if you haven’t read the Desire, Oklahoma series, feel free to start with this one. In fact, I think this book will have me re-reading the other series!

Lana Dare’s characters come to life on the page. Maggie, the spitfire, and the Tyler men, those darling Alpha cowboys, absolutely make this story a non-stop read. I was hooked right away. In the present-day series, we have heard about a few of the founding characters and it is fantastic to get a chance to hear their stories. It’s like sitting down with an elder and hearing about times gone by – okay, a naughty elder granted, because we shouldn’t forget the outrageously hot sexual scenes that Ms. Dare has gifted us with throughout this story – but you get the idea.

I think Ms. Dare has done an amazing job of weaving in the information from the current-day series so that it all comes together for us in Untamed Desire. I can’t wait for the next book in Desire Oklahoma: The Founding Fathers!

I'm not sure what to say about this one. I just finished Raw Desire a few days ago and when I saw on amazon that Brooke had begun the series of the Founding Fathers (the men who built the town Desire in the series Desire, Oklahoma) I was really excited to begin it.

While I did enjoy the book and enjoyed finding out how the town had it's start I had a hard time with the main male characters Eb and Jeremiah. They were very dominant and sexy but something about them kept turning me off. I thought they didn't really give Maggie enough of a chance to learn what it meant to be with two men and I felt like they were both emotionally closed off from the relationship. They kept insisting they cared about her and loved her and showed this to her by protecting her and keeping her safe but I would have liked to see a bit more affection outside the bedroom. A little more snuggling maybe? It seemed to be a lot of sexy talk followed by the occasional endearment and then followed up with insisting Maggie was either a brat or a little girl. It just kind of bothered me.

Either way, not my favorite out of the series and I'm debating reading the next one. On a side note, the fact that this is a HR also threw me a bit. I guess I was so used to reading all about Desire in the present tense and I had to keep reminding myself this was 100 years ago.

I read this before starting the "Desire, Oklahoma" series, because this is where it all began.

I didn't like it that much because the characters where like a square peg and a round hole. Maggie Simms never understood the men's brand of discipline, and the brothers Eb and Jeremiah Tyler don't appreciate Maggie's independent streak. From there, I knew conflicts would arise, they're just too stubborn.

I gave this a there because I appreciated the way they tried to meet each other half-way. The danger is always there and Maggie is unaware of it, being the darling of Shenandoah. Now her father has passed away, Eb and Jeremiah stepped in and claimed her.

It's the lack of communication that I didn't like. The Tyler brothers went to Oklahoma to build a house and a town where a woman having sexual relations with two men wouldn't be frowned upon. They didn't make it clear to Maggie because she was very young at that time. Maggie believes that she's a responsibility to be taken care of, and that Eb and Jeremiah doesn't lust for her.

Somewhere along the way, they have lots of hot sex, but Maggie always hates it that the spanking gets her hot. This is the pattern.

If you love the 'Desire' series then this one is a must read. It's the story of how the town was founded and named.
Don't let the Historical genre put you off if you've never read Historical novels before. There's just as much 'raunch' in this book as there is in all the other Desire novels. In fact, I think there may be significantly more.
It's quite a long novel, so you definitely get your moneys worth.
What I liked about this book is that Ms Dare covers issues that aren't covered in the Desire series. Jealousy between the two men for example and how they overcome it. There's also more information on how the men come up with 'the rules'. In the previous Desire books 'the rules' are just taken for granted. In this one you see the reasoning behind them and how they evolve in response to events.
A whole new host of characters are introduced which will hopefully lead to more books.
Don't worry if you've never read a 'Desire' book, this can be read as a stand alone and you'll be intrigued to read more.

Book one of the founding fathers series, this book focuses on Eb and Jeremiah Tyler the two brothers who created the town of desire by purchasing the land with the money they won during a poker game, they wanted a place to live with the woman they love and intend to share. Maggie Simms loved Eb and Jeremiah and was heartbroken when they left five years later they return to claim her as theirs, after her fathers passing. They marry her and take her away from the ranch she grew up in Kansas City and move her to Oklahoma to their ranch called circle T for Tyler. She struggles to come to term that they both want her. I loved the introduction to the characters including Maggie’s best friend Savanna who lives with her abusive uncle reverend Perry, who she also has two men interested in her Hayes and Wyatt I also loved Phoenix, Blade and Royal. I loved recognising some of the names from the desire Oklahoma series like Ace Tyler. It’s nice to see how far back Their families ran in Desire. This was a good and entertaining book to read

It's an ok read. I didn't see much fight in the part of Maggie with regards to standing strong. I was so pissed reading this book that i ended up just scanning it and seeing if there's interesting snippets that will come out. Sadly, there was none.

Desire, Oklahoma; I've always wondered how it all began and now I know. The men who founded it were idiots; larger than life, handsome enough to make every woman in sight swoon in lustful need, masters of all they could see and whom everyone must obey, idiots. It was a good thing they could be taught. Maggie Simms was the one who made them want to learn.

This was my first historical by this author and while the story line was good, some things just didn't ring too true for the time. But all in all a good story about the 'beginnings' of her popular Desire, OK series.
