A graduate of Harvard and Columbia, Ingrid Bacci was a real “achiever”—until a crippling disease took over her life for three years. After embarking on a journey of healing using mind-body techniques, she realized the secret to health, happiness, and success was to let go of trying so hard and face the fear that had ruled her life. Many of us are addicted to struggling and trying so hard to make things happen. We feel emotionally dissatisfied and physically exhausted or even ill. We have a nagging sense that there must be more to life than what we are getting. We apply ourselves to reaching our goals, only to find out that we pay a price in the form of stress and tension. In The Art of Effortless Living , Dr. Bacci presents clear, simple techniques for developing an effortless lifestyle. Through breathing exercises, meditation, visualization, bodywork and tapping into unconscious guidance, you can learn how to achieve a more fulfilling life—by doing less.
This book is essentially more advice on how to remain balanced and centered in your own right and not letting other people or situations take away your power. Always good to be reminded of this....
I've recommened this to anyone I know with bodily pain or dis-ease. This book helped me through a time when I had let who I was waiver because of someone else's expectations of me. I started to see it manifest in me physically. No one says it better than Ingrid! Sign up for her newsletters on her website.
regardless of the badly-designed cheesy self-help-looking cover, this book is anything but. this is my number one book for awhile yet. if i could, i'd give this book to everyone i know that is interested in the art of being. take what you need from it and leave whatever's too far out for you.
i'd be willing to swap it but i want to read it again.
i recommend this book to anyone who is interested in understanding themselves and others better.alot of the ideas are ones i was already familiar with but the author just pulls it all togther and makes you believe in them more.
Not only does the author talk about her own personal experience of changing her life, but she gives you tools on how to work on your own. The tools are very simple, but they are quite profound. Great book!
This is one of the few books that has actually helped me to make positive changes in my life starting with changing my breathing and generally just slowing down in everything I do. It shows you how to focus more on being than doing but goes into that topic in depth. Highly recommended.
This book was an outstanding piece of literature. It made you think about how you think and how you can change it to improve you health and really live an effortless lifestyle. I loved it!
This story had a wild start, with the clear message it is impossible to solve a physical effect by physical medicine, when it is merely a psychological problem. She was crazy, literally, then blames her husband for being there supporting her. 1/3 of the way in the thought floated up what a cute little pre-millennial tome. Eventually it strengthened into stronger narrative and some pithy additions. We don't need experts as much as we think we do. Be present, listen to yourself, and act in the now. Book could have been better, message probably deserved a better book.
