This book was a very good book. I liked this book because it was about four woman making history for being the firs women ever to reach the South Pole. My favorite part of this book was that even though it was hard for the woman, they never gave up. My least favorite part of the book was that they didn't go on after they reached the South Pole. Over all I thought this was a very good book. I recommend it to people who like Antarctica, cold places or maybe just an adventure.
Subjects: The American Women’s Expedition to Antarctica, 1992-1993, Antarctica, adventurers, team work, personal motivation, perseverance, goal setting, leadership, and personal challenges. Stories such as Four to the Pole are inspirational and give hope to teens that they too can pursue their dreams. Four to the Pole is an excellent addition to a school curriculum as it includes: history and facts about the Antarctic, maps, color illustrations, detail information about each of the four women, journal entries, footnotes with definitions, transcriptions from tapes, and bibliographical resources (books, visual materials, and websites).
I was interested in this book as it provides personal journal entries from the four American women who skied to the South Pole. Their accounts tell of the difficulty of their expedition, the fund raising before leaving and after returning, the horrendous cold, physical endurance and their courage.
