Burnt Orange: Sooner Or Later

Rate this book
Andy McBride and Warren Brower have been friends since grade school. They've argued about football just as long. Andy's a Longhorn's fan for life, while Warren's a Sooner. Their best-friend rivalry lasts until they graduate from high school and Warren leaves Texas to attend school in Oklahoma. Unable to confess his true feelings for his best friend, Andy has no choice but to watch Warren leave.

Life goes on, and Andy's on the way to becoming an actual Longhorn when an accident puts him out of commission for good on the football field, and maybe for life. Can Andy put his life back together and let Warren know how he really feels before they're both old and gray?

3.5 stars. Good short m/m romance, told in a series of key scenes, that follows two guys who become friends in grade school, despite one being a Sooner and the other being a Longhorn and neither realizing the other is gay... I got sniffly once or twice during this one.

This story was great! It was short, covered a lot of time, and yet somehow didn’t feel rushed at all. And it pulled me right up out of a book slump. Win win! ❤️

It's really beautiful story. Even though it is quite short, it covers more than 20 years of the lives of Andy and Warren. It shows several important episodes in their lives.

Best friends since Warren transferred from Oklahoma to grade school in Texas, Andy and Warren have been attracted to each other since they were in high school. Neither dare to say anything. So, when Warren received scholarship to go to Oklahoma University, they were separated. Being a true Long Horn fan, Andy went to University of Texas on football scholarship. Unfortunately, permanent injury prevented him from being a student athlete for long. He fell into depression and became alcoholic. Warren tried to help his buddy, but Andy rejected everyone in his life. So, for the second time, they were separated again.

This is such a sweet, sad and emotional story.

This is a collection of snap shots of Andy and Warren's relationship through the years. We see them meet through all sorts of ups and downs through the years. While these are just snippets I got a clear sense of their relationship and how they felt for each other. It took a while for them to end up together but when they did I knew they were right for each other. While we did jump quite a bit for each snippet and there wasn't really any clear marking that this was a new period in their lives it was still made clear that time had passed, and usually just how much time had passed. It was great to see the men mature and change over the years. For a short story there was a lot packed in but I never felt rushed or that I was missing anything when moving from one moment to the next.

This is short light novella with interesting characters..., but for my taste it's to short. The two main characters where interesting and good together. The ending is sweet and warm. So I recommend this warm story and I wouldn't mind reading it on.

It wasn't bad and it was written well but the character connection wasn't good. That was really suprising as the author gave them such a history but it really wasn't there even at the end. I just couldn't feel it. I give credit for putting the STD partner in there though.
