For Sophia, being a timeless witch meant never knowing in what era she would be reborn to. Although this time the stakes were much higher. Sophia vowed she would make it right. In order to do so, she must dispose of Alistair, and claim her lover. The problem, she never knew what form the Gods would choose to hide her lover in until the night before All Hollow's Eve. A much bigger problem was the Keeper of Halloween has demanded a truce of all kinds, good and evil alike for just one day a year. Both she and her adversary had lost their lives for fighting on that sacred day years earlier. Alistair would see to it that they broke the rules once more. How was she to battle, kill Alistair and appease the Keeper?It was indeed a quandary. But Sophia hadn't lived for thousands of years for nothing. She hadn't loved her Randar for ten thousand years only to lose him to a vile serpent. This time she would prove victorious.

Hello, I'm Connie! Now that we've met how about I tell you a little about me? I love to write, it's like having a super power.

I was born and raised in Ontario...yes I'm Canadian, no I don't live in an igloo, no I've never pet a polar bear, but I have run into a few black bears, seen wolves, moose, coyotes and I think there's a hundred pound squirrel in my attic.

I spend as much time as I can get away with looking for rocks in Bancroft. When I'm not in Bancroft I live in a small town, so people know me when they see me. Some ask me what I'm working on--some even ask me in a regular voice not a whisper.

I get bored easily, it's why one day I'll be working on assassins, the next Sci-fi, then Vikings, then vampires, then planning world domination--wait, what?

Moving on. I love animals and we have a dog, 120p mastiff. He's great with the kids and careful around them, but he'd run me over for a piece of bologna. Otherwise he loves us.

Cette nouvelle doit bien être le premier de C.L. Scholey dont je me demande à la fin, et de façon sérieuse en plus, pourquoi est-ce que j’ai bien pu lire ça ? J’ai l’impression d’avoir perdu mon temps entre les scènes sans queue ni tête, les clichés qui s’enchaînent et le potentiel gâché… Le peu de bonnes choses intéressantes ou positives disparaissent rapidement sous le reste qui est loin de l’être.

Sophia est une sorcière en quelque sorte immortelle puisqu’elle ne cesse de se réincarnée afin de pouvoir se venger d’Alistair qui lui a tout prix. Dans sa nouvelle vie, elle est une enfant précoce puisqu’elle a gardé ses souvenirs passés et ses dons magiques. Je l’ai trouvé asociale, cruelle et vicieuse, je ne me suis pas du tout attachée à elle. Pas même lorsqu’elle retrouve son amour et qu’elle combat Alistair.

Parlons justement des autres personnages qui vont et viennent dans la vie de Sophia. Tout d’abord ses « nouveaux » parents, j’avais pitié pour eux, les pauvres se sont retrouvés avec un monstre pour enfant et ils en ont bavé du début à la fin. Randar, le fameux amant qui est protégé des Dieux, a été sans réel intérêt, sauf peut-être pour le choix plus que suspect de sa nouvelle existence qui rajoute une couche de n’importe quoi à l’histoire. Le Gardien est sans réelle importance, il n’existe tout simplement pour donner une raison à la trêve qui est au finale inexistante. Concluons par Alistair, qui pourrait être le personnage plus intéressant mais qui est le Némésis de Sophia pour une raison bidon qui gâche tout.

Bref… entre une intrigue mince et mal gérée, une romance mauvaise et des idées aussi bonnes que mauvaises, on voit clairement que c’est un des tout premiers romans de l’auteure. Timeless Witch n’est pas un livre à recommander pour ma part, même pas pour rire car l’humour n’y est pas du tout présent. Next !
