Soul Stalker

Rate this book
Being the Illuminator is not all happiness and light, especially when everyone thinks you are dead. When Gabriella decides to finally let her angels know that she is alive, Joseph and an unexpected friend help her. The Darkness Illuminator is not as in control of her power as she believes, which makes for a very comedic and endearing relationship that blooms between the three. A fender-bender debacle, a run-in with the cops, and a hiccup at the airport seem to all be worth it until Gabriella finds out her plan has backfired.

The three angels are missing, more mysteries pile up, and a new evil is brewing – so terrifying, in fact, that even the Soul Stalker herself is cowering in fear. Our heroine begins a jarring, romance-filled, heart-breaking journey that will lead her back to Italy, and ultimately to the answers she is desperately searching for. What will she do when they aren’t the answers she expected? What happens when she unveils a truth, so deeply hidden, that it causes an Angelic War?

WARNINGS: Laura Kreitzer drives me absolutely insane when I read her books.

Before I get to the actual book, there is just something I have to get off my chest about this author and her writing. It drives me absolutely insane when I read her books. (In the absolutely best way ever.) The emotions from the characters are displayed all over the page and whatever they feel, you can't help but feel. Being a book addict is an understatement when it comes to these books. I lost hours of sleep. I ticked my mom off so many times while reading this book, because I was so absorbed in these pages that I ignored her and everything else around me.

I couldn't put the book down for anything. I missed dinner because I wasn't willing to couldn't move from my spot so I could continue reading. I feel giddy and jittery once I finish her these books and while I'm reading them. Then comes the heartache from having to wait to get my hands on the next one, (which it pure torture.)

Soul Stalker continues an already favorite series. It's action packed and full of amazing writing. At times, I was a little worried it was too full of action. Regardless, it still fit and made a great book. Long story short, these words run through my mind after reading: wonderful, amazing, fantastic, and love.

Addict's Last Words: This book brings my book addiction to a whole new level. Kreitzer will not disappoint you.

To Buy or To Borrow: Are you kidding me? BUY! I'll end up having two copies of the first two books because the ebook just isn't doing it for me. I need to be able to have the book in my hands. Now to get my mom to temporarily lift the book buying ban...

Let me start off by saying, I absolutely love this cover. The fantastical colors and creativity behind the artistic value is spot on. Now, last week, I presented my review for the first installment, Shadows of the Sun. My overall reaction has been surprisingly delightful, considering all the angel books I've read thus far. The sequel starts out with Gabriella continuing her illuminator plan while simultaneously dodging the soul stalker's deathly threats. In the first novel, I was fortunate enough to meet Andrew, a sexy angel who cared deeply for Gabriella. However, this time around, he wasn't in the picture much. I missed him and yearned for his electric personality. I really hope to see more of him in the next installment, after all he does make the plot spicier.

Moving on, Joseph, an FBI agent introduced in Shadows of the Sun steps from behind the background. He expectedly turns into Gabriella's perfect friend. He not only protects her but, is there for her emotionally as well. Plus, his pure heart grabbed me right away, it definitely helped me through my Andrew withdrawal. Truthfully, I enjoyed Soul Stalker more than the first book because the writing wasn't as wordy. It gave me a chance to thoroughly enjoy the story without being distracted by unnecessary scenes. In addition, Laura introduced new characters who gained my curiosity off the bat. I am excited to see where this series ends up. Luckily, I'll be showing you all a teaser of book three soon, so make sure you look out for that!

My impression on the book is its like playing tug of war, You keep getting pulled forward and back. The whole time while reading, I didn't want to stop. I wanted to know what was coming next or what was going to happen or what did happen. The story is beautifully written, the descriptions are heavenly. I feel that Laura gives us a main story but also tells a minor story in the background.

I will try and review without giving the book away. Gabriella is alive, but no one knows this. Her goal is to find her Angels and try not and get killed again. She is different and would like to know why. We meet new characters that you fall in love with. We read about some of the past characters also again. The whole book is in motion, there is not one moment where it drags.

If you are new to the series make sure you order Shadow of the Sun and then read Soul Stalker, they can not be read out of order. I guarantee you will fall in love with these Angels.

The beginning of this book went by SOOOOO SLOWLY, made up of a ton of what I would consider to be unnecessary fluff to the story. For example,

So it wasn't until a bit over the half-way point that it started to finally get exciting, but I guess it was worth it! I'm glad I kept reading because the plot became much better and I appreciated the intensity and mystery that followed.

I read the first book on Kindle years ago when I was a kid.
I found it again and decided to read thr 2nd book.
In my head, whenever I thought of this story, I only remembered the storyline and it seemed..mystical and enigmatic. You know those stories you read when you're a kid and you think it's so beautiful and adventurous. And then you go back and read it when you're an adult and the story seems to have lost its oomph. Now it's just ..meh. Like you look at the book and the writing seems so childish? This is what I felt with this book. I went in with supremely high expectations and it was...not?

I will write this review as I go.

1. Why is Joseph and Gabriella spending so much time discussing about types of coffee and breakfast? Who cares? God, its slow.. and now they're discussing vampires. Im skipping a couple pages.
2. Now they're in an office of some sort. More boring and irrelevant conversations. Really? We're in the midst of an angel war and now we're discussing Joseph's crazy ex?
3. Nope. Can't do it. I'm at the end of my line. I'm dnfing. Maybe next time when I have an infinite amount of patience to get through his book.

Gabriella is back! Back from the dead that is. At the end of Shadow of the Sun, Gabriella wakes up in a morgue. She decides she should keep the fact she is alive a secret. She hopes she can protect those she loves until she can come up with a plan to deal with Karen a.k.a Soul Stalker. She isn’t even sure why she is alive. She remembers the battle and dying, but somehow here she is. Being away from Andrew proves harder than Gabriella could have ever imagined. She goes to Joseph who agrees to help her locate the angels she has come to care for so much. Gabriella’s journey takes readers back to Italy. Along the way things get a little crazy, but Gabriella never loses focus on what, or should I say who she longs to reach. The super sexy and sweet angel, Andrew!

I loved the sarcastic and fun side we see of Gabriella in this book. In Shadow of the Sun she was trying to process so many emotions, and I don’t think we were able to really get to know her as well as I would have liked. I loved that Joseph was around for almost all of this book. He helps to bring out the best in Gabriella. Plus I have a little crush on him that is fueled even more after discovering the inspiration for his physical appearance. ♥ ♥ Milo Ventimiglia ♥ ♥ Milo in a snazzy FBI suit? Yes, please! I also loved new character, Patrick. He has a great story and I’m glad he had the chance to share it.

Several mysteries from Shadow of the Sun are revealed over the course of Soul Stalker. With the set up of the Timeless world taken care of in the first book, we were able to plunge right into the heart of the action in Soul Stalker. The bad guys are back and as bad as ever. Gabriella also encounters new characters who may or may not be out to hurt her. With so many folks she isn’t sure if she can trust, I’m glad she has her constants in Andrew, Joseph, and Jenna. Speaking of Jenna, I hope we see more of her in future books. I adore her relationship with Gabriella, and would love to see more of her as this series continues.

Another great read courtesy of Laura Kreitzer. She has such an engaging writing style and a real talent when it comes to creating characters readers will love. This is a series angel fans don’t want to miss!

WARNING , SLIGHT SPOILERS FOR SHADOW OF THE SUN AND SOUL STALKER

‘Soul Stalker’; the second book in the Timeless series by Laura Kreitzer, starts pretty much where the first book left off – with Gabriella ‘dead’ and the Angels- specifically Andrew and Ehno, making this discovery. Unfortunately, Gabriella herself remains separated from “her” Angels- and needs to find her own way back to her soul mate- and that way is also facilitated by Joseph, the FBI agent she befriended in Shadow of the Sun. The book is a journey – not only to find the three missing Angels, but a journey into Gabriella’s past, and a reminder of what went on in the previous book.

This book is extremely easy to read. It’s engaging and entertaining. I will be honest and say that it’s not a book I would usually pick up and read if I saw it in a book store – but once I started, I was completely hooked. As someone who loves character studies and values connecting with characters in a story – sometimes more than the plot itself, the way Laura Kreitzer develops her characters was stunning. The friendship between Joseph and Gabriella is phenomenal – it’s humourous, it’s loving, loyal and intimate – but they have a very defined line that they don’t cross, and they both respect each other. The secondary characters are brilliant too -new and old. Even though for most of the book the Angels aren’t present, the reader can definitely feel their influence on Gabriella – especially Andrew and the love they share. I quite missed Andrew and Gabriella throughout this book, although I love Joseph, a lot. I was also happy to see that when they were reunited, Andrew understood the connection between Joseph and Gabriella. The story is simple but intriguing as well, and I’m really drawn in by the way Laura Kreitzer has moulded Angel mythology to fit this particular story. The ending is tense and intriguing, with more than one character in danger; it leaves the reader wanting more; and in huge anticipation for the third installment.

Soul Stalker is a wonderful addition to the Timeless series. It is full of action and adventure. I could not put this book down! It is just that awesome. I loved that I never knew what was going to happen next because there were so many twists and turns. The book is fast-paced and most definitely thrilling and exciting. Of course, it is also entertaining.

I also love the characters because they are amazing and lovable. Gabriella is a strong heroine who has a great sense of humor with some sarcasm thrown in. What she says and does had me laughing many times throughout the book. I love Joseph in this book more than the first one because he has become the best friend every girl dreams of having. He is there for Gabriella when she needs him even though it can be considered too dangerous for a human. Some of my favorite scenes involved Gabriella and Joseph's bantering. Those two together are just too great for words. The only thing I did not like about this book was that Andrew was not in it that much. I can honestly say that I missed him.

Gabriella changes a lot in this book. She comes back after dying the the first book, Shadow of the Sun (you can read my review of Shadow of the Sun here). It is no surprise that her death ends up changing her in many ways. She is still determined to Illuminate the Shadows, but she has the Soul Stalker to watch out for. The ending has me a bit worried about Gabriella, so I must read the next book when it is released to find out how she deals with her changes.

If you have not read Shadow of the Sun, I definitely recommend that you do so that you can read Soul Stalker! This story is amazing. Laura Kreitzer has created an epic world where the supernatural is possible. I am positive you will fall in love with the characters just like I have. I am excited to see where Laura Kreitzer takes the story in the next book because I NEED to know what happens next. In fact, I cannot wait to read the next book!

There are some series where the first book seems to be the best. The others are okay, but for some reason just don't seem to measure up to what first drew you in. In this instance, that is not the case. In fact, I think Laura Kreitzer will have a difficult time topping the first two books in the Timeless series.

Soul Stalker picks up right where Shadow of the Sun left off; with Gabriella showing up at Joseph's door in need of help. Now that she's decided to find the angels that completely changed her world, she needs some help doing tracking them down.

With Gabriella though, things don't always go according to plan, and with the help of Joseph and another FBI agent, she discovers even more about this new world she's been thrust into. New characters are introduced and a show down with the Soul Stalker is imminent, this book kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Now, I will admit that at first I was a little disappointed that we weren't going to see more of Andrew. I fell in love with him in Shadow of the Sun and his innocence about modern society. But, as Laura developed Joseph's character and his connection with Gabriella, I realized how much I loved his place in this as well. He adds a little bit of comic relief for her when things have gotten intense and wants to help protect her just as much as the angels do. Plus, the anticipation for Andrew and Gabriella's reunion makes it that much sweeter.

Laura also gives us a little bit more about the angel's background, their history, and how their connections effect one another. Questions are answered, but even more are left lingering and Gabriella's journey is only just beginning. With Abyss, the third book in the Timeless series, coming out next month, I can hardly wait to see what happens next.

One of the greatest things about this series is the casual narrative style, which makes the novel feel very authentic and personal. Yet, Soul Stalker seems to have lost some of the perfect flow and pacing that the first novel possessed. The writing is still excellent in the tense action scenes, though, only slipping in some of the especially emotional moments. Though the flow is off, Soul Stalker still tells a captivating story filled with lovable characters. In this novel, Kreitzer introduces one of my personal favorite characters thus far in the series, without resorting to the tired love triangle trope, bringing to life a mysterious, yet endearing man who keeps Gabriella on her toes. Readers may miss the self-sufficient, powerful Gabriella from the first novel, but her emotional vulnerability is touching and bittersweet. Her vulnerability reveals a new facet of her complex character, while still allowing for the hope that her strength and power will return in book three. Soul Stalker also greatly develops the fascinating and original mythology that began in the first novel, adding startling and fearsome new characters and an intricate angel hierarchy. The imagery in this novel is beautiful and there are moments when the metaphors are indescribably brilliant. After a slow start, the novel picks up the pace and turns into a heart-pounding rollercoaster ride, ending on a cliffhanger that will leave readers stunned.

What a beautiful cover that's just as awesome as the book itself!

Soul Stalker picks up right were Shadow of the Sun left of. Gabriella needs the help of a friend to find Andrew and her other Angels. There are some new characters introduced that each play a part on things that happen and that help her reach her goals. Gabriella must decide what she has to do at every corner, especially when she learns some truth that might not be good.

I really like how Gabriella doesn't give up even if at times she feels like she has to. Even though most of the time she is told to stay put, she goes ahead and does what she's told not to. Another thing that I liked was that she wasn't always sure how to use her power. I think it showed that she may be powerful but that she still needs help controlling it.

Like I said, there are some new characters. I had my doubts about some of them but it was all explained. They were each different and I was happy that they were all there to help Gabriella. You also get to see how there is so much to the world that Gabriella was thrown into that isn't as nice or good as most might think.

This is a book different to most Angel books. Laura Kreitzer creates a world were she makes the Angels the way she wants to and not the way that most people see them. I'm glad that I had the opportunity to read this book! Even if the characters are all in their 20s, they manage to appeal to those who like reading about teenagers!

I know I'm a little late in putting a review out here, but I did want to mention a few things about Soul Stalker (#2 in the Timeless series after Shadow of the Sun).

It does seem to be written better than the first book, so if you weren't sure if you wanted to continue the series after Shadow of the Sun, you might want to give it another shot.

There are a few scenes where things don't seem to quite fit together, such as when they finish an epic-scale battle, and then call a taxi when they need to travel. If they're that close to civilized areas for taxi service, I'd think someone other than the characters in the story might notice.

There was also little explanation given to tie the actions together, such as how Gabriella knows where to search for the other angels. She just seems to know.

Still, you read these books for fun, which they are, and once you get about a third of the way through, the pacing picks up and it is a bit more enjoyable. When you read fantasy stories, sometimes it's just best to go with the flow and not be too picky about details that otherwise wouldn't determine if you enjoyed the story.

What intrigued me the most about the story was the ending, becoming a bit darker than the rest of the book. I don't want to say so much that it might be a spoiler, but the tone changed enough that I've put the third in the series on my "to read" list. I'm interested to see how Laura handles this.

Soul Stalker is the second book by Laura Kreitzer that I've read this year, and I can now safely say she's one of my favorite, author's you probably haven't heard of but should have.

This book is the second in the Timeless series. Book one is Shadow Of The Sun and I highly recommend that you read this one first. These stories aren't really stand alone books, though you can certainly read Soul Stalker and still enjoy it. Reading the first book, though will make it easier to understand the action in the first few chapters.

It is really hard to say what it is about Laura's books that make you want to read more and more. There are so many reasons, really. Gabrielle is such a kick ass heroine. She's the epitome of what a strong female should be in any book. I also adored Joseph. His banter with Gabrielle really brought lightness to a story that could be heavy.

I loved the humor in this book as well. There were times when I was really laughing out loud, especially at the beginning when they encounter Joseph's ex-girlfriend/stalker, Sara. That was pure brilliance!

But it is the story that Laura weaves that really pulls you in. Once you read her books, you become addicted and want more.

I enjoyed this book (#2 in the Timeless series) much more than the first book. The style of the writing seemed more mature and a lot of the spacing issues I had with the first one were taken care of. The only formatting issue I will note is the use of italics in weird places...they weren't dream sequences or inner dialogue. In some cases, the italics started in the middle of a sentence or in the middle of a conversation. Maybe this will be better in book #3.

I was disappointed not to have much of Andrew in this book, but the plot needed him to be out of the picture. I thought the story line was great with a lot of the twists and turns from the first one and more mystery. I enjoyed the addition of Patrick, an FBI angel, and meeting Jenna, Gabriella's sister in more detail. And I hope that Joseph and Jenna will hit it off!

I was still frustrated with Gabriella's reluctance to do what has to be done. For someone so smart, she can seem so dumb sometimes. I also wish there was more detail about Aidan and the whole illumination process. Did it work? Did he remember anything afterwards from before his mind was scrubbed? Why did it wipe Gabriella out? How long did it take to recover?

Maybe these questions will be answered in book 3.

I'm wondering if i will find something i don't like at those tours.
Soul Stalker was one of the best from the ones i've read so far. It has action, romance and Laura Kreitzer new how to keep up the interest of the reader.

While at start was difficult for me, after 1-2 chapters i got really into it. Each chapter was even better than the previous. The whole mystery of the story was setted up so nicely and was that make the difference from other angels books. Well, yeah it had a romance with its difficulties but the whole world and the was setted up made the book totally different and original than any other i've read on that "subject".
The characters, good or bad, have depth and you get it to know them. I really liked the descriptions since they made understand not only Gabriella but the world and characters around her as well without getting tired.
My favorites part/s was when Gabriella was with her sister. Totally loved their special connection. How close and how much they trusted each other even though they weren't blood sisters.

I know for sure that i enjoyed the book and i totally recommend it to you. Any doubts i had about it, disappeared!

Another great book by Laura Kreitzer!!

You have to...have to read the first book "Shadow of the Sun" in order to pick up this book they go hand in hand. This book is just as amazing as the first!!!
Just as in the first book the author does an amazing job with all the details. Laura really helps you visualize every single detail it becomes so vivid to your imagination it’s as if you are in the actual book its…GREAT! You will fall for these new characters as you do for the pervious ones.
You revisit some old characters and you are introduced to new ones which you will find just as interesting. You will never find this book dull or feel like it drags because it does NOT! You become so involved in the story line that all you do is flip, flip and flip pages until you are done .
Laura Kreitzer does yet another AMAZING job with this book…Thank you!
It’s a must read actually both books are. I recommend them both “Shadow of the Sun” & “Soul Stalker” go out and purchase them you will not regret it…you’ll love them!

If I wasn't already hooked on Laura Kreitzer's Timeless series before, I certainly am now. Soul Stalker was so imaginatively riveting that it had me captivated from the first page to the last. Once I picked this book up, I didn't put it down until I was finished. The suspenseful peril continued to mount and the momentum never let up. I fell even deeper in love with the cast and I am completely invested in their outcomes. The only problem I had with this book is that I missed Andrew so much. The wait for his reunion with Gabriella was running my heart through the wringer and when it finally happened, it was sweet indeed. The one good thing about his absence is that we got to learn more about Joseph, the FBI agent who always has Gabriella's back. I am really starting to adore that man. I am on pins and needles waiting to see what Kreitzer has in store for these amazing characters and the next book cannot come soon enough. I cannot say enough good things about this series or recommend this book highly enough. ”

You know I loved the story I did it was great..my goat is Gabby man, she was too much the DD (damsel in distress). I understand she couldn't be her usual "zingy" self since her "kindred soul" was taken from her, but still she whined and died too much....seriously when ppl keep falling around her you would think she would have some outburst of power. I just wish she lived up to all the expectations the angels have for her including living up to the unanimous (sp) phrase "your worth it". I will admit that I thought Joseph with all his texting was suspicous and I thought he was a traitor; glad he wasn't. can't wait for the next installment.

Soul Stalker is the second book in Laura Kreitzer's Timeless series. It is superbly written and captivating story. However, don't try to read this book if you have not read the first book, Shadow of the Sun. You will not understand or enjoy this book until you experience the first one.

Once again, Laura writes a captivating and complex story. Her characters are very real and complex. I love the interactions the characters have with each other. The writing is excellent. Laura definitely knows how to manipulate words beautifully to bring scenes and people to life.

Another great book by Laura! This second installment in the Timeless series had me laughing out loud, and sitting on the edge of my seat. The characters that i found so endearing in the first book really opened up, gaining my loyalty hook, line, and sinker. Only warning is that although the book ends on a high note, it leaves you hanging and mad that you dont have the next one lol! Luckily Timeless #3 is available in a couple months, so at least you wont have long to wait. Team Patrick!!!

Before I begin, the four star rating is for the story, the way it was told; the characters and the plot. That being said, it should lose a star for once again having parts (in the kindle edition) where entire sections are just missing, making you wonder if you missed something important. I thought it was just a problem with the first book, but this one had the same issue. Ms. Kreitzer, please resolve this issue so your readers can enjoy the FULL story.

Overall rating 1.5 stars. I really hate to give out less than stellar reviews, but I really could not get into this book. I was hoping that I would like it more than the first one, but I didn't. The writing at times seemed a bit amateurish to me, and it read a lot like a rough draft, and I was disappointed because I really do like the concept of the story. It was just hard for me to read it.

I like the plot and the characters but I can't help but get hung up on all the grammatical errors. About midway through the book I just couldn't stand it anymore. I picked the book back up after reading another book by a different author. I agree with another reader who said that this book comes off like a first draft.
