A very intresting beginners digest for exploring the stories of those men and women who had convincing evidence of extraordinary paranormal powers. This book is divided into nine chapters . The first about Powerful Mediums , who by producing strtling physical effects or talking quietly to those in the other world act as channels between us and whoever is out there, such as Eileen Garret and Doris Stokes. The second chapter is about talented ghost hunters such as Harry Price and the author Conan Doyle. While chapter three is about reincarnations-people who have reported experiences of fascinating previous lives.
Their are the predictions-some chillingly accurate-in Chapter four of people Nostradamus, john Dee and Jeanne Dixon in the chapter 'Seers and Prophets', and flamboyant figures whose followers belive them to have been divinely inspired in Chapter 5 "Spirits and Priestesses', touching on the lives of such people as Madame Blavatsky and the Maharishi.Other chapters include those who have demonstrated wonders with the power of the mind in Mind over Matter such as Uri Geller and Geraldine Cummins. also chapters on Spiritual healers such as Harry Edwards and Rose Gladden. Psychic detectives who have helped to solve horrible crimes such as Robert James who may have been responsible for hunting down Jack the Ripper, and finally visionaries and stigmatics such as Joan of Arc and Bernadette, people of often humble backgrounds set apart by private experiences that can never be explained. Intelligently written and well researched, a great handbook for those beginning to explore the paranormal.

It's all pseudoscience but written in a very interesting and easy to digest format with lots of little stories. Good for learning about historical attitudes towards the paranormal and good inspiration for stories.

I love this series of books - great bathroom books. Divided in to short pieces, they are great trivial reads.
