Elizabeth Loraine brings us the third book in her series of Royal Blood Chronicles. Katrina having lost the love of her life embarks on a new journey, to the new world. New evil stalks the Five and endangers not only their mission but the very existence of all the peaceful races of the world. The Vampire Examiner writes: The Dark Prince, is as fast paced, mysterious, and adventurous as the first two books. It continues with the story of Katrina and the chosen Five as they leave the old world and travel to America. The descriptions of the scenes combined with a strong story line makes the reader feel as if they are walking the streets of the New World with them. It is a true example of the continued stong female vampire leads in this series. Katrina's continuing story of relationships among family, friends and lovers makes the reader hold their breath until the very last page.
I grew up in a small northern Minnesotan town married my high school sweetheart, had two beautiful children and as soon as we could we moved to a warmer climate. I have worked with my husband building and decorating custom homes for years. After loving every kind of vampire book, movie and series I decided that I wanted to know more. I can write a book I thought, how hard can that be? Well.... But I stuck to it and finished my first book Royal Blood Chronicles Book One in August 2009. I now have ten books and three novellas in the Royal Blood Chronicles, two in Phantom Lives, three in the adult dystopian Pathogen series, two in h thriller/mystery series Silken Ties, with Corporate Ties and Thorns of Revenge and 25 books in total. My parents always told me that I could do anything that I wanted, work hard, study and do it right. I believe that and live that way every day.
I started writing this new vampire series for teens and their moms because I myself wanted something different to read. I was tired of all the modern versions of vampire books, there had to be more to these long lived beings. Where had they been what had they seen? I wanted, no I NEEDED to know more so Royal Blood Chronicles was born! As in Royal Blood Chronicles, Phantom Lives features strong female characters and action and adventure mixed with romance, friendship and a historical backdrop
Another interesting installment from Elizabeth Lorraine. The Dark Prince continues its adventures as Katrina and the chosen five travel to America.
The same urgency and thrill from the other books is still found in this book. Katrina continues to be the strong and lively character as she guides and supports her friends and family. I enjoy reading about her character because her presence in the story and the way she sees the world is truly fascinating.
Though the historical fiction was captivating and in depth with the history of the vampires, it wasn't something that appealed to me. Although, I definitely believe others will be very interested in this.
The vivid descriptions and the way Elizabeth Loraine writes is as if I could feel the action taking place. The plot was very consuming with the odd twists and turns it had me wanting to read more. I wonder if there's going to be another book? Hope so!
Wow! That was a lot!!! Another good book. Wish someone could have edited it before it was published, alot of typos. But I'm definitely anxious to read on! Im happy Quinn was changed. That was a plus!
I enjoy the story and the characters, although I find annoying grammatical errors distracting me. I like how Katrina is strong enough to do what had to be done, even without Damien at her side. The last paragraph in this book opens a whole new can of worms. Glad I can move right into the next book.
In the third installment of Elizabeth Loraine's Royal Blood Chronicle's series “The Dark Prince”, Katrina and her friends are now in America. While in America they are picking out the three locations for the new covens and where they will build the covens homes. The Five Protectorates are starting to feel an evil presence and know that something is not right. All five Protectorates race home to only discover that evil presence that they were feeling was coming from The Dark Prince.
Katrina and her friends are about to learn that their arch enemy Luena, has just made a deal with the Dark Queen. Luena has plans capture Katrina and her friends. Once she has captured them she is going to hand them over to Dark Queen so the Dark Queen to steal their powers from them, and rule the world. Poor Katrina will be forced to marry The Dark Prince and she does not want any part of this. Luena thinks that once she has accomplished this she will be rewarded with ruling the world with the Dark Queen. Little does Luena know that The Five Protectorates are onto her and are going to stop her before she can act on capturing them. Before the Protectorates can stop Luena and The Dark Queen, a huge distraction has just occurred and two of Katrina's family watchers have just been captured. Katrina's also finds out that her beloved finance is still alive and could be possibly allying with Luena. Can Katrina and her friends save their family watchers before they are killed? Will Damien truly turn and ally with Luena and betray Katrina?
Lives will be lost and loves will also die and new alliances will be forged in this wonderful novel “The Dark Prince” by Elizabeth Loraine. This is the third book of Elizabeth Loraine's that I have read and every time I read another of her books they seem to get better and better. I can not wait to see what happens with The Five Protectorates, and what their next journey will entail in book four called “Caine”.

The Dark Prince is #3 in the line for the Royal Blood Chronicles. Katrina and her friends have grown in their role as The Protectors. This adventure take you on an action-packed magical adventure between Europe and America. I loved all the descriptors subtly embedded throughout the story. They give the reader a sense and feel of the story. Set in historical times author Elizabeth Loraine blends in the elements of other another world as she incorporates the magical races. I love how Loraine has manage to maintain the Vampire’s predatory need and disassociate it from the need for sustenance. Crimson? What a delightful idea. This story is a race against time to save all from the evil plotting of her nemeses. The team truly comes together to overcome their challenges. You can feel the love, loss, and friendship woven through this well spun tale.
The Dark Prince had a nice adventurous pace although it was a bit of a challenging read at times. Once in while it was not clear which character was speaking. However, the story-line was so good and the plot thick with unexpected twists that re-reading a few lines doesn’t take away from the book’s rhythm. For the reader’s convenience the author has incorporated a casting of characters which is an excellent resource if you are following the Chronicles. I wonder if the author will add a map to follow along with. What an exciting thought! The book concluded with a teaser that’ll have the reader wanting more. I’m so glad that “Cain” is hot on the heels for the Royal Blood Chronicles.
I really enjoy this series, the characters are fairly likable my only complaint is e editing is awful, and for the price that is unacceptable. This was one of the higher priced ebooks I've read recently, and the editing is by far among the lowest, that's fine for a free or $.99 book, but at $3.99 a bit mor polish is expected. It looks like a computer editor was used since the mistakes are improper word order, and use (things a human editor would catch, and I have never seen a computer one do). I love the fact that vampires are being used as the heroes instead of the stereotype as most authors do.
The series certainly is captivating despite the multiple twists and fast pace of the plot.
Really enjoyed this story.
But my patience has worn thin on the bad punctuation etc. If I'm picking up on those types of errors then some serious work needs to be done, because I'm not exactly well versed in typing/formatting novels.
Also patience has worn thin on this 'Insta-love' for Katrina. I know she's the main heroine but it's failing in letting the other members of the team being developed and makes her relationships superficial.
I love, love, love this series. It keeps you on your toes from first to last page. I love all the characters, old and new that get brought into these books. the description and detail are amazing!. i reccomend the blood chronicles to anyone looking for an awesome vampire series to read!
My favorite of the series with a new world and an underworld filled with discriptions so good that it lets you see it as if you were really their with the Protectors. Can't wait for the next book!
