One Day at Disney

Rate this book
Regardless of the time of day, the day of the week, or the date on the calendar, there is always something going on at all of the Disney theme parks around the world. One Day at Disney takes readers on a global armchair journey from Disneyland in Anaheim, California, to Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Florida; from Disneyland Paris in Marne la Valle, France, to Tokyo Disneyland in Japan. The clock starts at the stroke of midnight at California's Disneyland -- where all the magic began in July 1955. Hour by hour, the parks and their guests are featured in brand-new, never-before-published photographs taken especially for this book within a 24-hour period on a March day. It's all brilliantly captured in this one-of-a-kind volume destined to become a classic for Disney fans.

24 hours. 4 parks. 1 magical book.

I got this book at an used book sale at my school's library and it was just calling to me. I was about to pay and then I saw this book sitting out waiting for me to pick it up. I love Disney so of course I had to buy it.

This is such a wonderful book. The photos are beautiful and capture the magic of Disney. It's a perfect little snapshot of Disney Parks in the late 90's.

This was a very nicely done book that was a bit dated (1999). The book shows photos and very brief descriptions of what goes in the parks at various times in the day across the world. The photos were a bit sad looking at them during the pandemic and some made me very sad. I'm glad I read this book but was happy to pass it along to someone else.

A lovely book of photos of many of the Disney parks, all taken the same day. Some inetersting
back stage images from each of the parks.
It was very pleasant to read.

Great little big picture book promotion for the Disney brand. Documentary on Disney+ only covers Robin Roberts (anchor person) Natalie D. Mylniczenko (veterinarian), Eric Baker (Imagineering), Zamavuso Magudulela (actress, “The Lion King,” Spain), Ryan Meinerding (Marvel Visual Development), Ashley Girdich (headed engineering and build of R2D2 type robot that wanders around “Galaxy’s Edge” saying “hi” and posing for pictures with the guests), Eric Goldberg (Animator and Director, Walt Disney Animation Studios), Jerome Ranft (Sculptor at Pixar), and Grace Lee (Illustration Manager Disney Publishing), of the seventy-eight (by my count) cast members covered in the book.

Bob Iger is profiled in the book, but I don’t think he was individually covered in the documentary, though he popped up a lot, sprinkling pixie dust.

Good documentary, good book, if you’re interested in nuts and bolts of how the Disney empire works.

Photos seem a little dated, but I loved the concept behind the book. The photos go in chronological order, starting from midnight in Disneyland, CA. At that time it is 3am in Walt Disney World, FL, 9am in Disneyland Paris, and 5pm in Tokyo Disneyland. I was actually more interested in seeing what happens overnight in each of the parks rather than during the day, because well, we see those pictures all the time. And since the photos in the book are not necessarily artistic in fashion, I got more out of seeing ones taken during the overnight outs instead.

But that's not to say the photos are bad or that I didn't like the book. It's a great one to own as a Disney lover! A very neat concept for a book. Definitely something to pick up if you collect Disney books.
