While on the run from Lord Dunraven, Moonsilver and Heart join a troupe of minstrels where the unicorn is seen as an act, but when the truth is revealed Heart and Moonsilver must move on to find another place where they can be safe.
Kathleen Duey grew up in Colorado. She loved riding her horses, hiking, being in the mountains. Reading was always important to her. Writing became a fascination early in her life. In the fourth grade, Kathleen began writing stories and told everyone who would listen that she was going to be an author. Then she did nothing about it until she was 35 years old. Writing was her passion and her dream-come-true.

Kathleen died of cardiac arrest at her home in Fallbrook, California. She was 69. She had struggled with dementia in her latter years which prevented her from completing her Skin Hunger trilogy.
While this story does pick up a bit from the last one, it looks like the pattern of simplicity is continuing in the plot, and therefore I'm concluding that this really is a series best reserved for children rather than adults. I may try it again someday if I'm in need of something like this, or if I may read this to a child, but otherwise I have no interest to pursue the series at present.
We picked this up for free at a library event. My youngest daughter loves horses and unicorns, but I couldn't finish this book fast enough. To be fair, it is the third in a series, which I didn't realize until we'd started reading it. But even so, it felt more like part of a larger book than a book in itself. There was no reintroduction of characters or reminder of what came before. The story lacked a proper arc and a satisfying conclusion. If I had enjoyed this one more, we would have searched for the rest of the series, but as it stands, I'm really not interested and will find a different horse book for my daughter instead.
My Review: I am still enjoying this story and the interesting development with the addition of the gypsies did a good job of moving the story along a little bit. With that said I am starting to wonder what exactly the point of the series is, obviously it is to protect the unicorn's secret but from what exactly and what is the end game. Maybe as a young reader I wouldn't have questioned this as much as I am now but for me right now the story just seems to be aimlessly ambling on and reacting to whatever the author feels like throwing at the story instead of actually having a plot.
Like those before it in the series, this one is also a simple story. Though it shows more magic than before. This book moves the narrative along nicely and was quite entertaining. It showed some good of that world.
Overall, it was sweet and simple. The book series shows promise with this book I thought I wouldn’t see. Give it a read if you get a chance, it will be worth your time.
This is the next step in Heart's journey with the unicorns. She finally feels safe and has found friends. But of course, nothing good can last in Heart's life. These little books are perfect for children starting on chapter books.
The cover is so iconic. Ah to travel from town to town learning the flute with your animal pals and surprisingly nice nomadic folks who immediately welcome you to their family.
New characters join our young protagonist's journey and a nearly-tragic event forces our heroine to protect her friends and unicorn companions by heading out on her own with the latter once more.
Well, I was wondering how long Heart could stay in that cave of hers. I am glad that Kathleen Duey was able to get her out of it and traveling with the gypsies in The Silver Bracelet. Heart really needed some friends and to get away from Ash Grove.
Once again, the pencil work by Omar Rayyan is beautiful and the story by Kathleen Duey will have young readers enraptured. After all, who hasn't wanted to join the circus at one time or another? What is also nice for Heart is that she gets to see more of the world and soon comes to realize that there is more than just Ash Grove. But with the gypsies and the townspeople realize that Moonsilver is a real unicorn, Heart knows that she must leave again. Too bad,
I really like the gypsies that Heart made some new friends. Personally, I think that Heart is going to look for the place that unicorns come from. Let's hope so. That will be really cool if she brings Avamir and Moonsilver to the rest of their kind. I look forward to finding out what happens next in The Mountains of the Moon.
