This is actually a book by Eugene Richards and not Christiane Bird.

Pretty depressing book, but very good. The bulk of this folio sized volume is rough, transcribed interviews with a fair amount of black and white photos. A fairly good cross section examination of rural and urban poor people in the mid eighties.
