The action-packed new series from the author of Jefferson's War. They're the secret agents of the future, infiltrating alien worlds to learn what kind of threat they pose to Earth. Captain Joshua Price, commanding officer and undercover operative, may not like what the team has to do to get answers, but he knows how to get them . . . no matter what the cost.
I haven't been able to read a book in months, it was so frustrating trying to open a book and not being able to read or process the words. Then a few weeks ago I was out of town chilling in Joshua Tree, while there I went to a used book store and I sat down and forced myself to read a few books to try and find just one book I could get through. This was the only book that mildly caught my attention and for 4 bucks I figured I could take the loss if I didn't like it. At the store I noticed next to it was 2 more books by the same author and after a quick Google search I learned that all three happened to be a 3 part series. Now, to my surprise, and low expectations, it was actually a fun little read that felt like I was reading a Star Trek episode. The book caught my attention, but not enough to buy all three books, I mean, I felt confident no one would take the other two home so I figured if I liked the first one I could come back for the other two. I will say it was a pretty good read right up until the end with what felt like a lazy climax. Or at least, it had a 'low budget' kinda feel to the ending if that makes sense? Throughout the book I was actually kinda excited to read the 2nd part in the series right up until the end. The words kinda just stopped which made the book very unsatisfying or even unfulfilling. The last part of the book really kinda fell off but I'm really just glad I was able to read and enjoy reading. It's weird because I want to give it a 4 for creativity but also I want to take away the 3 and knock it down to 2 at the same time for execution.
