Meagan was running from her mother and stepfather, trying to stay invisible, but when she ended up working as a groom on a cattle ranch, she caught the attention of Adam Wightman. Although she was deeply attracted to him, she just couldn't get involved for secrets of her own. Adam came from a long line of cowboys. He was unyeilding, handsome, rich and didn't care about much of anything besides business and his family. He worked hard and expected nothing but the best from his employees. Then his lead hand hired Meagan. He'd tried to convince himself that she was no different than the other women in his life. Women that he used only to his satisfaction, but she wasn't. She was beautiful and he wanted her, only she wasn't too keen despite his constant pursuit. Still, what Adam wanted, he got.
These books by Lethia Wards are like Velveeta crack cocaine and I can't stop reading them! This followed the typical pattern, virgin h who is beautiful but has no idea, manwhore H who was wronged by a woman in his past so he sleeps around and has shallow relationships. This H has a chip on his shoulder because his high school girlfriend broke his 18 year old heart. This guy is 30 years old and he's still stuck on some high school twit? And then he's surprised when our young and very naive h is still a virgin? He was a little too clueless for me.
The ending always saves these books. The H behaves like a major a$$ and then when he comes to his senses, he grovels and reveals a super sweet man.
Another sweet sexy and fun LW despite the incredibly cheesy and tropey plotline and characterization. Let’s not even speak of the appalling editing – cuz that’s par for the LW course.
The h is the 18 yo groom at the H’s ranch. Her innocence is in direct and eyerolling proportion to her hotness. The cowboys at the ranch line up to watch her hose the horses and herself, driving the H to territorial snarling and posturing.
But her complete ignorance about certain things was unbelievable and annoying. “Just a second, I need to protect you.” He reached over and fumbled with his pants to get his wallet pulling out a small square packet. “What is that?” “You don’t know?” he lifted his brows in surprise. The woman’s innocence never ceased to amaze him. “Birth control, honey, I don‟t want to get you pregnant.” And especially when just a few hours later, she was enthusiastically and quite expertly giving her first BJ!
I also dint like the fact that the author made her aunt just a prop character and the h is never shown interacting or sharing anything with the woman who gave up everything to run off with her to protect her.
But all in all left me in a happy place – LW/DP style!
This author can't spell, can't punctuate (capitalize woman!), but her tiny h just laid out the evil other woman, something I have trudged through hundreds of romances to experience...
She looked back at Jasper and tossed her hair over her shoulder, “You tell your brother to return my calls or I‟m going to say more than my share...” that was the last word she got out before Meagan drew back and punched her in the nose. “Good God!” Jasper blurted, watching the woman fall on her ass with a wretched screech. Meagan stood over her, “I think you‟d better think twice before you start spreading lies, you tramp! If you even think about saying anything about Adam or me, I‟ll find you and lay you out again.” She couldn‟t contain her fury any longer. It was the third time the woman insulted her and it would be the last. She wasn‟t her father‟s daughter for nothing. “I‟m going to sue you!” she screeched nasally. “Go right ahead and I‟ll start spreading my own lies about you.” She knew she shouldn‟t stoop to the older woman‟s level, but she was so angry! Heather‟s eyes flew wide, “You wouldn‟t dare!” “I don‟t give a rat‟s ass about my reputation, but I know you do.” the woman‟s eyes went wide with horror. Jasper barked in a round of laughter. Heather struggled to her feet, “You‟re crazy!” “Keep it up, and you‟ll find out.” She clenched her fists at her sides and took a step toward the older woman.
Unfortunately, the hero is a jackass of epic proportions without even trying.
2.5-ish Stars Montana Sunset reads like Diana Palmer on steroids. The jerky H is EXTRA jerky, the pathetic h is EXTRA pathetic, the wannabe OW is EXTRA catty, and the baddies are EXTRA bad.
Meagan is on the run from her evil mom and pervy step dad and hiding out at Adam’s ranch. She’s H-O-T hot with giant jugs (no mousy DP h here). She’s the typical clueless h but made of tougher stuff than we typically see. Adam gets around cause he’s nursing a chip on his shoulder from being cheated on ten years earlier. He also has MAJOR anger issues… like Hulk Smash level. And he’s WAY pushier than the typical soapy-cowboy. D.P.’s H’s are jerks bit would NEVER say….
“I’m going to give you a couple of days before I make good on my threat. You know where my bedroom is and I expect you there by the end of the second day.”
They’d marry her so they could get in her pants.
Bottom Line- This is soapy cowboy smut with an extra helping of male chauvinist pig. I only recommend it for readers looking for an old school cowboy soap opera.
SO Meagan and her aunt Helen are on the run from her mother and evil step-father. Why? I was never really clear on that. She's 18 and turns 19 in the story so she's an adult.
Anyways, just go with the flow and enjoy the fluffy goodness. Adam the grumpy boss who can have any woman and rarely smiles, is immediately stricken with lust when he sees her. She is impossibly naive. The usual understanding side characters who try to reign in Adam's crazy temper when he reacts to other men looking at her.
It was a cute quick read with a dash of angst from the evil OW.
This was another very sweet Lietha Wards books, I absolutely fell in love with! Ms. Wards always captures my attention with her romantic short stories, possessive, sexy alpha males, cute/shy heroines, chocolate coated romance and a happily ever after that leaves you wanting more! Montana Sunset was no exception! I loved it from start to finish...and at the end I was still disappointed it finished too quickly! A must read for all romance lovers and the ladies who love their men hot, big and very cowboy to the core-like! :D
Meagan is running from her mother and stepfather, who are after the family fortune, her dad left her after he died. Before she knows it, she ends up as a groom on a cattle ranch working for the sexy but very temperamental Adam Wightman. Meagan can’t help but desire the hot cowboy, but getting involved would mean revealing her secrets - which would cause nothing but disaster. But she’s caught Adam’s eye and he isn’t giving up any time soon. Adam is a cowboy to the core, working on the ranch his only concern. That is until Meagan comes to work for him. He tries to convince himself she is like every other woman who he met, - money hungry and driven to get married to him, but he knew he was wrong. She was beautiful and sweet and he wanted her with a hunger like no other. But Meagan was persistent to not let him in, no matter what and he didn’t understand why. But Adam isn’t taking no for an answer and he’s not giving up either. Can Adam convince Meagan he’s Mr. Right for her - or will he run out of time and loose her heart forever?
Like every other story I have read by Ms. Wards, I always end up falling in love with her characters! Meagan was a sweetheart and I loved her cute shy personality. She was always blushing around Adam, which would make me laugh! Although, there was no doubt, she held her own as well. She was strong and when push came to shove, she did stand up to Adam and the evil bitch Heather (I really hated her! *scowl* )! That was one heck of a scene, though! LOL ;p As for Adam.....YEEHAW!! I totally sign up for riding him! *wink* He’s hot, sexy, totally alpha-male, possessive, very loving and a freakin cowboy...can you ask for more!? Not to mention their relationship was amazing! It was full of sexual tension and humor and when they finally come together....it was worth every agonizing minute! :)
I also enjoyed the secondary characters like Jasper and Sarah’s relationship, Jesse, Mitchell and Henry! They were all a nice part of the book...that kept the story real and very fun! I can’t wait to read Mitchell’s story next! WOOT WOOT! :D
Overall, Montana Sunset was pure sweetness and I enjoyed every word of it! It will keep you engaged and totally swooning over the cowboys! It is definitely a must-read! You wont be disappointed! Great work Ms. Wards! I look forward to reading more of your work! :)
Very bad editing as per all Lietha Wards books. I was on a bit of a streak of her books but I think I might start giving them a miss. She reads very much like a Diana Palmer but without the preachyness of Diana's work which is a plus. She sometimes makes some really obvious mistakes in her knowledge of her settings (she really needs to read a few more contemporaries set in the west as it can be quiet jarring to come across. (you will know what I mean if you read her work). One of the main reasons I have decided these aren't for me is her characters both male and female leads. The female to start: All her lead female characters are Centre fold beautiful not just pretty but so beautiful that all the males can't even do their work around them. but of course said heroines are clueless of this. They are to a one: sweet, innocent to the point of stupidity ie: has no idea what a condom is when she see's hero take one out of his wallet. Seriously has she never set foot in a chemist or had any sex education at school? (Don't get me wrong I like virginal heroines in my books but done with a bit of realism this was ridiculous). Anywho she just isn't relatable and you get the impression through all of the books that the attraction for the heroes are purely physical because the writer goes on and on about how beautiful the female leads are. Give my an ordinarily pretty heroine with a bit of fun and character any day. The male: I like an alpha male but apart from what I said earlier about the attraction seeming really shallow and all about the physical beauty of the heroine. This hero does some things that just made me go NO! that is sexual harassment and I wanted to call the employment union on him it was just skeevy and not at all acceptable or OK.
There was so many errors in this book, it was hard to finish. I usually can overlook errors and never downgrade ratings because of them but I spent more time trying to figure out what was being said, then I did paying attention to the actual story. One minute, the h was at the ranch two months, the next three months, then back to two!!! Make up your mind! Then the father was dead for six months before the mother remarried, late the aunt says she’s been the h’s guardian for three months since her father died! One part the friend was blonde hair, green eyes like her brother, later she referred to her friend as a “buxom brunette”! The h was supposed to have copper hair, later it said people would be crazy not to notice the blond! He was used for she and vis versa, his instead of hers....let’s just say there was tons of errors!! Errors aside, the H was horrible, the h was a doormat and it was a constant stream of the H pushing the h away, treating her like crap and tons of references to his past lovers! I couldn’t find anything I liked about this book. I do applaud anyone brave enough to write and put themselves out there for scrutiny, hence the two stars!!!

Hero- jealous, possessive, controlling and stubborn (traits I love in my alphas). He was also pretty chauvinist and could not make up his mind to save his life. I would have liked in more if he went after what he wanted much sooner.
Heroine- Sweet, naive, innocent, childish. Yes I love a sweet heroine who can stand up to the hero but she constantly backed down, blushed, or cried whenever they had any interactions. Even after their relationship was more solid, she still found herself doubting him and believing lies of another wretched women.
Sex actually came a lot later in the book than an expected. It was pretty mainstream steamy without much variety but I didn’t mind.
There were a few plot points that were left open with no resolution. I also had an awful time keeping up with who was talking or seeing how much time had lapsed in the story. No real structure.
I have no words!! She's 19 but didn't know what a condom was and why are all her heroines naive, simple-minded virgins? I have read 4 books from this author and that's my limit. Going to pass from now on.
I simply don't like it. The girl was super naive and too young for the hero. She's 18 while he's 29 if I'm not mistaken. The hero was way over possessive of her.
This book was actually pretty good. It was recommended to me as an EXTREMELY OTT alpha read - and boy did it deliver. I totally have a thing for ranchers right now. The only reason this book didn't get 5 stars was because it severely jumped around from POV to POV. One minute your in one persons head, then BAMN you're in someone elses. Also, I felt the heroine started out SUPER docile and timed, then, without any real explanation or signs of change/growth, was just the super confident - I'll punch your lights out - kind of girl and then, she'd be shy and docile again. It kinda flip-flopped on her personality. Other than that, it was a SUPER OTT Alpha read. It was steamy, but the sex scenes are few and far between - and during them, it's not very graphic - BOO! LOL, it was just okay. I did give it 4 stars though, because it totally came through with what was promised - an OTT alpha.
That was really good! Lots of cliches and an unbelievable amount of naivete on Meagan's part (she didn't know what a condom was??) but the story was good. There wasn't any crazy break-up for weird reasons, and all their fights were resolved rather quickly, with Meagan actually getting stronger in their disagreements over time. This is a good cowboy tale, with a bit of suspense, but mostly the cowboys and one incredibly young and innocent, pretty, young lady making them all acting crazy, especially her boss!
I love OTT jealous, possessive, alpha males H but this one did not work for me. The H was down right rude and mean to the h. She certainly did not deserve that kind of treatment. Basically, the H was a chauvinistic pig. I was also disappointed by the h becoming enamored by the H so quickly. Women were crazy about the H and even considering how innocent the h was, she immediately responded to his aggressive seduction.
Aw, this was like Diana Palmer on crack. The heroine annoyed the shit out of me in the beginning with her unrealistic innocence and naivete in the first half, but the second half was old fashioned amazeballs hplandia awesome. Was this really written in this millennium? Lol with her shorts and tummy tied top and cowboy boots hosing down a horse? But they had cell phones to prove the decade. Trainwrecky fun at its best.
ANOTHER book today where I see the author isn't good with grammar - in the first 5 freaking pages! There is a HUGE difference between an HEIR and the AIR. Jesus. >:( I would like to blame this mean-ness on lack of sleep, lack of medication and too much Redbull. My apologies in advance for any more bitching about the shitiness, I probably don't mean it.
Great story, i wish there wasn't so many grammatical errors and typos but the charactere were cool. I the flash backs that we get but wish a timeline was placed, because sometimes one would get confused.
There is a fanfiction author on fanfiction. net who plagarised this book word for word, only she changed the names to fit twilight characters. Her pen name is Rozalie Belikova Ivashkov and the fanfiction is titled Surrender to Me.
