All her life Angel had been secretly in love with Alex Harrison, but would she be able to overcome her shyness and her father's plans for her future to tell him before he married another woman?
This book is typical of this author: Alpha jerk manwhore hero, sweet virgin h who is gorgeous but doesn't know it. There were a lot of plot holes and the characters changed back and forth too much to be consistent. Too many silent car rides for me to see much advancement in their relationship. Lots of angst but mostly safe depending on your definition. It had a nice HEA at the end.
This reads like a Diana Palmer and Lynda Chance mashup. We have Alex Harrison the rich, older cowboy who knows his way around a woman, and Angel the young, naïve virgin who’s been pining for him forever. Alex has been fantasizing about Angel since she was 16, and he saw her in a white bikini. He’s dealt with this attraction while waiting for her to grow up by alternating between being a grumpy asshole and ignoring her. In a nutshell, we have this…
I meant,” he said as if reading her mind. “That if you actually dressed decently—” His eyes flicked to her hair “—And did something with that mop, you might be able to compete with your sister and get a date.”
And this…
“Y—your hand—” She swallowed and tilted her head back as his thumb grazed over her nipple making her release a moan that made his skin tingle. “—Is in heaven,”
It’s like smutty DP. 🤗
Unfortunately, just when things are looking really good, Alex announces that he’s engaged, and there’s a kid walking around town that looks just like him. We know what the deal is fairly quickly, which killed the angst, but I was still entertained while waiting for Angel to catchup. I know I’ve seen books the scenario before Black Swan Affair comes to mind, but I’m drawing a blank on others.
Bottom Line- Quick read with an OTT bossy cowboy and an OTT meek virgin. You really need to like soapy reads to enjoy this one. The characters are overly dramatic and you’ll just have to just go with it at times. My only real complaint is that some things were not sorted out and left unsettled. The couple does have their HEA though.
I read this years back and to this day I am still disgusted that even in death the H’s father got away with cheating on his wife and having a kid with that woman. That side story actually upset me more than the main characters plot!
This was the second book I read by Lietha Wards and I have to say I was completely blown away! The story just got to me....and I fell in love! It was sweet, full of sexual tension and loads of sexual teasing! LOL ;p And it was funny as hell. I found myself laughing out loud on so many occasions...especially with the conversations Alex has with Angel!
Angel is a 20 year old woman who has been in love with Alex Harrison her whole life but she is ultra-shy and doesn’t know how to approach her feelings and intense emotions. She was so sweet and so innocent...I just loved her personality. Alex on the other hand is WOW! This man is sexy as hell and sweet as sin! Yeah you get the picture! He brings out a side to Angel that is sassy and NOT shy at all! I loved how he always riled her up and then made out with her all in the space of minutes! LOL ;p However, he was also very protective of Angel and so very sweet to her as well. I simply loved him!
And it’s not soon that they finally start to build their relationship when a problem arises. Alex is getting married to another woman! Angel is devastated and heartbroken and to top it all off,
The emotions in this story were so intense...that I actually felt as if I were there. Truth be told I hated Alex for breaking Angel’s heart but in the end you realize some very major things..and Alex is just perfect! You learn he has the biggest heart of all and he is so in love with Angel...he is willing to do anything! It was soooo sweet! =) This book truly did have the perfect ending and I actually had tears in my eyes! Truly Wonderful, Ms. Wards!
Overall, I loved the story, loved the characters and just plain loved the freakin book! It was an amazing read and I am so glad that I read it. I can’t wait to read Prissy (Angel’s sister) and Seth’s (Alex’s brother) story next! :) A DEFINITE MUST READ!!!
This was cute. It felt a little like a first try. Everything didn’t line up perfectly. It could use an editor. But it had tropes and characters I liked and was an easy read. It would have been rated higher if the author hadn’t yadayadayada’d over the sex scenes. I nearly stopped reading when we didn’t get an open door for their first time. 😐 I’m gonna try more though. 🤷🏼♀️
He humiliates her, she is panting after him, letting herself get thrown around... why call her Angel? She could be called Doormat and that name would have been much more fitting.
Story line was a Diana Palmer wanna be. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of DPs early books. The story line itself was fine, despite our doormat heroine and asshat hero, but it was really hard to read. Choppy, at times hard to follow, lots of wrong word choices, etc.
Angel and Alex. This reads like an old school Harlequin, except the hero isn't a complete ass. Misguided, yes, but it is forgivable. Angel has loved Alex since she was a girl, but little does she know, he has been watching her too. But their age difference has kept him away. Not sure how many years but I think about a decade. She is now 20 and he is ready to make his move. Even so, he keeps his feelings to himself and this will end up hurting his chances. Angel gives Alex her virginity and it seems like Alex is all set to propose, until out of the blue, he proposes to Lucy. Who the heck is Lucy and where does she come from, and is her 8 year old boy Alex's??? It was all pretty angsty but of course things work out and Alex does some delicious grovelling. I wish there had been an epilogue. The sequel, "Seth and Priscilla"is pretty good too and serves as a good epilogue to the first book with enough of Angel and Alex to satisfy.
This book didn't make any sense. It was very poorly written, the characters had no depth at all and were completely clichéd. I stopped after 40 pages because there are way too many good books to waste time on the terrible ones.
. Alex is 32 years old and was brought up on his family's ranch. Although he followed a career outside the ranch, he still regularly helps out since the death of his father. His brother Seth does the same. The neighbouring family are close friends. Angel the youngest daughter has been in love with Alex for as long as she can remember, but she feels that she isn't pretty enough to catch his eye. Her older sister Priscilla is the tall and beautiful one in their family.
But Alex has noticed Angel, he is twelve years older and has been waiting for her to grow up. She is now 20 years old, and Alex can't wait any longer to make Angel his. Angel can't quite believe in Alex's sudden focused attention to her. It's a dream come true. So after seeing him for a short while and giving up her virginity. Why is he suddenly engaged to another woman.
The premise for this story is very good, and quite original. The characters are well portrayed and described. Where I had a problem was that parts of the story, which were essential to the plot are literally dealt with behind the scenes so to speak, and the reader is presented with the solution without seeing how it was arrived at. I realise that this is a short story, but the author could have given us more details. But having said that this was an okay read, and I believe that there is a follow-up novella featuring Priscilla and Seth.
First things first.....anyone else love the fact that this read like a Diana Palmer book??? hahah maybe it was just me lol
This was a first time read for this author and I think I will read some of her other books. I enjoyed the sexual tension between Alex and his angel. I did want to slap him for his extreme ass-hatery on occasion but I thoroughly enjoyed the drama surrounding these two. Didn't really care for the sister and felt bad for his brother but didn't really give much thought to how their story will unfold.
This authors books isn’t exactly top notch but still enjoyable and they're easy to read. Now to the but. BUT this book was bad for some reason. Can’t really put my finger on why I disliked it. It felt flat and uninspiring. No chemistry between the MC’s and a fade to black first love scene didn’t help.
I believe this author started by published her books online before selling elsewhere. There are some clear typos and editorial issues, but it doesn’t affect the overall story. Love the book and this author.
Okay, that definitely had some three hanky moments! Our male here is completely and utterly void when it comes to dealing with our heroine. Alex has waited years for Angel to grow up, but when she acts and does things as the innocent she is, he suspects other motives and lets his temper fly lose on her. Poor Angel, she has no idea what to think about all of actions and re-actions, and reacts honestly to his outbursts. Then, he finally gets it, and she finally starts to stand up to him and all hell breaks lose. She is left alone and shattered and he offers no explanation, at all, to her, for his about face. He just seems sad, poor fella..... The second half is trying to figure out why he is doing what he is doing, but it is good, as it gives Angel a chance to exert herself and take some control of her life. This is not an easy road, and there are some definite factors outside Angel and Alex's control that keep being put in front of them. Overall, Alex is a good guy and truly cares for Angel, but has no idea how to get out of the mess he has ended up in. Luckily, he gets the inspiration he needs before it is way too late for him!
Loved it! Except for all those grammatical errors; although annoying they didn't take away from the story itself. Story is about "Angel" a mousy 20 year old virgin who's been in love with Alex, her 32 year old hunk-Alpha-cowboy neighbor forever. Finally he notices her and thus their romantic affair begins. My issue with the story itself was that Alex was a total moody-ass-jerk to Angel a few times and blamed it on his jealousy but he's behavior was just plain cruel and immature.... I got over it quick! He was simply too sexy to hold it against him ;)
The guy was a megadouche, on the douchebag o-meter he broke the damn thing. The heroine is supposedly intelligent, but NO ONE? and I mean NO ONE was able to put two and two together? Please, stop insulting the intelligence of your readers. Don't do this to yourself, walk away while you can!
5 stars. I absolutely loved this book. Alex and Angel are truly a beautiful couple. There story was so touching, I was captivated from the first chapter This is a must have, buy it today you won't be disappointed. Just a fyi I have read this book three times and i love it more each time I read it
