USA TODAY Bestselling author CHRISTI CALDWELL blames Judith McNaught's "Whitney, My Love!" for luring her into the world of historical romance. While sitting in her graduate school apartment at the University of Connecticut, Christi decided to set aside her notes and pick up her laptop to try her hand at romance. She believes the most perfect heroes and heroines have imperfections, and she rather enjoys torturing them before crafting them a well deserved happily ever after!
Christi makes her home in Charlotte, North Carolina where she spends her time writing her own enchanting historical romances, and baking surprisingly good cakes (almost 2 years in lockdown will do that) with her courageous son and twin daughters, each who with their daily antics provides limitless source material.
I've waited 7-8 years for Lady Beatrice Denington to get her HEA. Each time Christi Caldwell releases a new book, I immediately read the synopsis to see if the heroine is Beatrice but the heroine always ends up being someone else. 😞😭😭
What a joy it is to return to one of CC's first series and for Beatrice to finally find true love after being passed over by at least nine suitors! I think CC's writing has improved since I last read her books in 2021.
- This book is reminiscent of Tessa Dare's When a Scot Ties the Knot. Made-up Scottish suitor/fiance, fake betrothal.
- Each chapter opens with a fake love letter written by Beatrice to Hamish and eventually a few fake love letters from Hamish to Beatrice.
For example, for Chapter 6, "I long for us to run wild in the midst of a rainstorm and take shelter and find warmth within one another’s arms. As long as I have your embrace, I will always know home. With Love and Longing, Beatrice." 💖💖💖
For Chapter 11, "Bonny Bea, Gardenias are pink. Gardenias are yellow. When I have you near, I’m the most fortunate fellow. Lovingly Yours, Hamish."
He learned that gardenias are her favorite flowers! 🥰🥰🥰
- There's phonetic spelling out of the Scottish hero's dialogues.
For example, in Chapter 11, “If yer doing a guid deal of thinking while in mah arms, lass, then ah’m definitely doing it wrong.”
His dialogues are not this (☝️) challenging to read, but when they are, I had to reread them before they made sense. What threw me off was that "whit" = "what." Um, what?! lol. See the example below.
Also from Chapter 11, “Do ye ken whit ah have a taste for, Beatrice?”
If this book is available in audio, I would suggest listening to it (assuming the narrator has a good Scottish accent).
- I did feel like the H/h fell for each other a little too fast, but if the author had written a slow-burn romance, I think I would have complained that the book was dragging, so I will gladly take the fast pace over the slow-burn.
- One love scene.
- A little danger/action in the last 7% to resolve the hero's revenge.
- No epilogue. I don't think this author writes epilogues.
Since 2015, I have read hundreds and hundreds of different authors but I only have 31 authors that I consider my favorites and have read all their books (in my genre). Christi Caldwell is definitely one of those authors. This is my 81st book by her. I read 2 of her books in 2013 but didn’t pick her up again to read faithfully until 2015. I don't read book synopsis' anymore so when I start reading a new book, I have no idea what it's going to be about. I just know my authors and know I'll always get a good read. I just love Christi Caldwell's writing. She always has great stories and depending on the book, well written sex scenes.
I loved Beatrice and Hamish. What a cute story concept. I loved each of their stories. She got great depth in the characters. Overall really good read.
Lady Beatrice has had twelve seasons, courted many times for her dowry, then abandoned by her suitors to marry someone else. While in Scotland, she decides to create a suitor named Hamish and writes love letters hiding them under a rock close to an abandoned castle. There really is Scotsman named Hamish who has the letters. He is so focused on revenge, he takes advantage of her position as a Duke's sister. Using her family's connections, he is determined to find the man responsible for the deaths of his father, older brother and his years as a prisoner at a penal colony in Australia. Beatrice may turn out to be more important than revenge. A beautifully written love story. Heat level 2 I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book gifted by the author.
She'd found a secret place to write and hide her letters to an imaginary lover. Unbeknownst to her someone knew about those letters and showed them to a very handsome but scarred Highlander. When he shows up at a ball, all the previous suitors who had bypassed her disappeared from memory. But its not love he's after. It's revenge. Another Caldwell success!!!
Hamish -A Scottish highlander returning "home" from being wrongfully poisoned with vengeance in his heart. Beatrice - A beautiful duke's sister that has had 7 seasons of being courted but never an offer. What a prefect title for this marvelously woven story of fated love, fake suitor, and revenge. They both had hardships of different kind that shaped them to be perfect for each other. I am not sure why someone would write letters to a fictional person then hide them but it made for an entertaining story with a roller-coaster of emotions. I find it refreshing it's not a perfect ending (typical of this author) but realistic/true to that time area and life. Their story has a loving hea! ARC I am freely giving my honest review for the arc.
Beatrice was always being courted, but never got married - until Hamish came along. What a lovely story from Christi Caldwell. An enjoyable and perfect story. 5☆
Another great book by this author. Well written, full of drama, intrigue, mystery, steam, love, romance and a guess who done it. Beatrice is one of the Ladies of the Ton, tired of being on display for the gentlemen. So hoping to stop some of the issues with finding a husband, sh starts writing letters and leaving them for herself at an old keep in the Scottish Highlands near her brother- the Duke's estate. She finds that she really the the Highlands after the seasons in London. Unaware that she is being watched every time she leaves a letter. She has had many seasons and never has found her true love. Hoping to finally be done with the marriage mart and be able to live her own life, she agrees to go to another season. Hamish is the survivor of the keep's family but was sent to Australia for an injustice that he did do. His father and brother were convicted of crimes against England and were hanged for them while he watched as a young man. He has returned to England to have his revenge on the ones who set his family up. He meets up and uses Beatrice and her letters to help him gain access to homes while he thinks he can find the info to prove them innocent. When Hamish and Beatrice start looking for this info, they spend more time together and fall in love, both fighting what they are feeling. Has a delicious love scene between them. As they get closer to who Beatrice and her sister-in-law, Helena find the persons who were involved. You will never guess who did it, very sad and sick, both of these people. Excellent read, enjoy this book as you will not put it down till the very end and look for more. Thank you to the author for writing such attention grabbing book. Would recommend this book to everyone. I am an ARC and leave this unbiased, honest review.
This is the much anticipated book from the fabulous Christ Caldwell’s Scandalous Seasons series featuring Beatrice Dennington. Although the book contains returning characters from previous books, the reader is able to follow along if this is their first time reading this series. I do guarantee that you will want to go back to the start after this story. Beatrice, has suffered through 12 London seasons and although many gentlemen have courted her, they have ultimately chosen other women leaving her humiliated and gossiped about over the years. While visiting her family’s country estate in Scotland she hatches a plan that will allow her to be left alone during the coming season, a fictional beau! Hamish Campbell, has just returned to Scotland from the penal colony in Australia, where he was sent after being wrongly convicted of crimes against the English crown. Determined to right the wrongs enacted against his family and avenge the deaths of his father and older brother he sets out for London. Having left letters for her love hidden in a cave, she is horrified when her fictional love turns up at a ton event with them in his hands! Hamish explains his situation to Bea and they agree to help each other. As expected there is complications along the way, that lead to danger for our hero and heroine. Ultimately they fall in love and after a few bumps they get their happy ever after. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, I am a huge fan of Christi’s writing and this does not disappoint. I highly recommend this book, whether you are a returning or new reader.
I received and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my honest opinions and review.
Starring Lady Beatrice Dennington and Hamish Brewster, the 12th Great Marischal of Scotland
Tropes: Spinster, Hot Scot with a Delicious Brogue, Fake Courtship, Revenge
How does Christi Caldwell do it? Make me fall in love hard with her characters? Because I have so much feels for Beatrice and Hamish. Aw man I’m ugly crying AF, this was sooooo good!! And the grand gesture in the end… stop it!! I’m a puddle of emotional goop… Le sigh!!
Hamish is “fan yo’self” hotness and my goodness… reading his brogue… yassssss!!! Like butter!! I love how stoic he is when he first meets Beatrice. But her sweetness and toughness… and that she was so real… was the sunshine he needed to heal his tortured soul. She gave him another purpose in life.
Beatrice was a tenacious heroine… she knew what she wanted in life, but there’s that vulnerability too. She thought she’d never find a man who would take the time to get to know her… but Hamish chipped away the facade that she presented to society. They both instinctively knew each other’s heart… totally made for each other!
And now I will hold on to this wonderful book hangover for a bit. Thank you, Christi Caldwell, for your wonderful stories. You truly are an amazing author!!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily review it and the comments are 100% my own.
My star rating: 5 stars x 100!!! Ugly cried AF. Major book hangover. Characters and storyline were amazing. Made me wanna hug the author for writing a book that gave me all the feels!! Will be re-reading this story over and over and over again!!
I have been a fan of Christi Caldwell's Scandalous Seasons series along with all the spinoff series since the beginning. Fans of Caldwell's have been begging for Beatrice's book for a very long time, and I am happy to report that it was very much worth the wait. Endlessly Courted, Finally Wed packs everything that I have come to expect in Caldwell's books. She always has characters that are so relatable, and Beatrice and Hamish are no different.
I read this story within 24 hours only putting it down when necessary. I have been rooting for Beatrice for years as she has unfortunately been a casualty of other's true love time and time again, but as soon as her and Hamish meet, you realize why she had to go through all trials that she did. Fate needed her to wait for Hamish. When Hamish appeared on the page, I immediately became his champion. He has suffered unimaginable crimes against he and his family. I knew he and Beatrice would find their happily ever after (duh it is a historical romance), but I loved getting to know this gruff Scot and watching his love for Beatrice grow.
It was also great to see Helena and Robert on the pages again. It definitely makes me want to go back and reread the stories of the Hell and Sin club. I am also looking forward to the continuation of the Scandalous Season series with Lord Landon's story in Sept. and Mr. Burgess story in Nov, but I would definitely recommend that you read this book NOW!
ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I HAVE READ ALL YEAR!!! Endlessly Courted, Finally Loved by Christi Caldwell is book 7 in the Scandalous Seasons series and though in a series this book can be read as a standalone. There nothing more that I love than a strong women and Beatrice is that women. Also at the end you will find yourself saying “I did not see that coming”. This book proves why Christi Caldwell in on the USA Bestselling author list. I could not put this book down. I found this story to be original, have wonderful characters, very vivd descriptions, well written, had the real feel of the regency era and just so charming to read. I even laughed out loud at some parts. I can’t say enough about this book. This story has a lady with a make believe betrothed, a laird that has lost everything including his family, finding secret letters of romance and using those letter to blackmail, seeking help to extract revenge, a fake betrothal, being passed over again and again to wed, wanting to spend time with someone, getting to know each other, rescuing her with a song, being kidnapped and falling in love. I don’t want to give too much away as you will have to read this incredible book yourself and I am highly recommending you do. It’s FANTASTIC!!!
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Lady Beatrice Dennington has become the most courted lady of the ton—not bad for a duke’s sister. Only problem being is that the courting has never ended with an offer of marriage. Every single gentleman who has courted her has found his true love, and it hasn’t been Beatrice. She’s fed up with being a prize never claimed so she’s decided to betroth herself to a dashing Scottish laird, a completely fictional Scottish laird. He will use anyone or anything in order to seek his vengeance. Driven by their own reasons, Beatrice and Hamish unite in the ultimate charade. At last Beatrice has her HEA! Beatrice has featured in a few of the author’s books but like the title she’s been endlessly courted, she’s deserved her happy ending & it needed to be special - well she’s been waiting nearly a decade - was it special? Yes it was. The author nailed it, wonderful characters, sizzling chemistry, a bit of mystery & delightful banter. I was drawn in from the first page & devoured this lovely romance in a sitting My review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
What a delightful and charming Regency romance! The beautiful heroine is Lady Beatrice Dennington, a duke’s sister, who has been endlessly courted but never offered marriage. The handsome hero is Lord Hamish Campbell, a Scottish laird who is bent on revenge against his enemies who killed his family, caused his mother's death from a broken heart and took him prisoner for years. When Beatrice invents a fake betrothal to Hamish to escape the unwanted attentions of the Ton, she is shocked to find out that he is a real person who agrees to play along with her scheme. As they pretend to be in love, they discover that their feelings are more than just an act. But can they overcome the secrets and dangers that threaten to tear them apart?
The story and characters kept me captivated from beginning to end. The characters were well-developed, and likable with witty banter and sizzling chemistry. The plot has a little bit of everything that makes it a wonderful historical romance read! I voluntarily read & reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts & opinions are my own.
I haven't read a book yet by Christi Caldwell that didn't make me go through a whole set of emotions, and which didn't leave me wanting more and introspecting myself. I was extremely fortunate to receive an ARC of Endlessly Courted,Finally Loved by the incredible Christi Caldwell. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Lady Beatrice Dennington, sister to the Duke of Somerset has been the second choice to a long list of suitors. Hamish Ian Campbell, Earl of Brewster, was banished as punishment to Australia for crimes he never committed. He has now returned to England to find the men responsible for his family's horrific demise. Beatrice started writing letters to a fictional beau/fiancé named Hamish. Hamish just happens to find those letters as they were hidden by Beatrice at his former Scottish home and decides to find Beatrice and become her temporary but real-life partner. I adored the chemistry between the characters and the rapport as well. Even without having read any other books in the series, I had no problems with all that Beatrice had endured in the past. Christi Caldwell has done another exceptional job.
Lady Beatrice is the sister to a powerful duke. She has had so many suitors who have thrown her over for others, that marriage is no longer a state for which she pines. Nearing thirty, Beatrice has devised a way to end the courting game and live a spinster's life of freedom. It involves a little bit of subterfuge. Hamish Campbell has lived through hell, and he is on a trail to determine the man or men who sent him there. He will use any means to find his betrayer, including Lady Beatrice. It is this path that brings these two wonderfully written characters together. This familiar romance trope, of the fictional suitor, is one this reader enjoys once in a while. But this story is absolutely wonderful. It has so much emotion, tragedy, attraction, and beauty about it. I read it from start to finish and couldn't put it down. I highly recommend this as this is one of the author's best. It is my new favorite. I only hope that one of the characters, Burgess, has a story of his own. I believe he has one to tell. I read this as an arc, but my opinions are my own.
I’d gotten away from reading historical romance and had forgotten how absolutely wonderful Christi Caldwell’s books are. Her books make me feel transported in time. I feel as though I’m interacting with her characters. And what fabulous characters they are! Christi Caldwell crafts her characters in such a vibrant and brilliant way, The dynamic between Bea and Hamish was fun and flirty. I loved their easy emotional connection. The fake engagement between these two quickly begins to feel all too real for both of them. As always with Christi’s books, the secondary characters add so much to the story. I loved reuniting with Helena and Robert. And I’m hoping Broden Burgess gets his own book. I’m intrigued by his past. If you love the fake engagement trope, you’ll fall in love with this story. This fun romance will have you hooked from the beginning. It’s everything you could ask for in historical romance. Anyone who loves historical romance, must read Christi Caldwell.
A poignant title, two lost souls, a villain and a story of love that happens slowly. I fell in love with the letters written in this story. Handwritten letters are a lost art but they can make you smile and cry and are so beautifully written in this story. Sadness over Beatrice’s story and hope that she would one day find love drives this story. I loved her spunk and relentless desire to help Hamish. Hamish, by the way, has his own tragic story and, bless his heart, he thought he would never fall in love. But bam, it happens. These two definitely deserved to find love. I have ready many of Christi’s books and teared up at quite a few but let me tell you I was a watering pot while reading this story. Just amazing.
Looking forward to Burgess’ story. He is a great friend to Hamish. Oh, and loved seeing Robert and Helena.
A beautiful book, angsty, but not excessively so, with two intriguing characters. Caldwell is one of my old favorites and her books are always a pleasant, familiar read. I loved both characters and especially Beatrice. Bea is beautiful, but beauty did not serve her well. She has always been admired, sought after for her looks, connections and skills, but never really loved for herself. She had to invent a fiancé to fulfill the Ton expectations and be left alone. And who better than a grumpy, tormented Scot? I liked the little bit of mystery as well and the side characters (I didn’t read the previous books of the series, but I gathered that some of them had their own books). Definitely recommended. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
What a unique and charming storyline this is! Beatrice is British, the sister of a Duke, but she loves the green highlands of Scotland. At the age of 30, she has endured season after season of courtships that never worked out, so now she decides to invent her own perfect suitor. She writes him love letters and hides them in the rocks. She receives the shock of her life when this imaginary Scottish Laird shows up at her home in England to claim his betrothed. Too bad that his intentions are for revenge and not for love! The story is suspenseful and heart wrenching at times, but romantic and tender at others. A total delight to watch Beatrice soften the bitter Scots heart, and find that all those seasons of rejection were worth the wait to gain the love of her life!
Christi Caldwell books are always enjoyable, and this is no exception. This story is about Beatrice who has not found love, she has been courted, but has never ended in a match. She pretends a fake engagement with a fake Scottish Laird. Harnish who is a Scottish Laird and happens to be the name Beatrice has used as her fiancé. When he comes to town to see his fake fiancé, they both decide to keep the charade going. I have read that Beatrice and Harnish have been in previous books, but I don’t remember them, but it did not matter, because I enjoyed them in this book. I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving my honest opinion.
Lady Beatrice Dennington has finally met her man! He's everything I hoped she would find, and a bit more than expected. Their first meeting was a fun scene to read. Hamish Campbell has a tragic history and Bea is the Lady he needs to get the justice he deserves. Her family being in the story, including her nephew and niece, was especially nice. His friend, Broden Burgess, is a man to look forward to reading more about. I received an advanced readers copy of this book and have given my voluntary and honest review.
Beatrice finally gets her man. It was worth waiting for as Hamish is exactly as she dreamed. Tired of all the courting and being left behind, Beatrice invents a betrothed. She writes him letters that she hides in an old Scottish keep. However, her imaginary Beau becomes real as Hamish discovers her letters and realizes she can gain entree into Society so he can find the man who hanged his father and brother , and sent him to a penal colony. What they find along the way are answers but more importantly, love!
Lady Bea finally gets her man! Love that for her. I enjoyed this book. The only thing that really bothered me is the spelling of the accent. I know everyone does it. I get why they do it. But I know he's a Highlander. I know he has a thick accent. I can hear it in my head. The spelling it out just drives me nuts. Kicks me out of the story. Makes it hard for me to focus. I like the inclusion of the Gaelic words. If the phonetic spelling out of accented words doesn't bother you, and you're looking for a quick and cozy read (Or just cannot wait for Lady Bea!!) you'll enjoy this story.
I really love this author but was disappointed in how many "modern" terms and phrases sneaked into this novel. When I'm reading, I am IN THAT PERIOD and each time someone uses a very modern expression (such as "you think?") it jerks me back to today and I've lost the "period" feeling .
It destroys the mood. I really enjoyed the hero and heroine's personality. They meshed perfectly!
I will continue to read theses books but would hope the author keeps alert to the sneaky modernisms creeping into her dialog. I would LOVE to be able to read her ARC copies.
A bit of a time jump forward from the previous 6 novels, this added another dimension to the series. A bit of a brain teaser trying to remember back to the earlier novels where Beatrice was a peripheral character. The story is shorter than previous novels and more of the length I prefer. The novel is well written, the storyline is somewhat unique and I enjoyed it greatly, I’m hoping the following novels will have some follow through on what happens to this couple in their future.
This book and the previous book in this series are the best I’ve read of Christi’s work to date. Both have proper storyline’s, strong and loveable characters. I was about ready to quit this series but figured I would give it one more shot with her last book and loved it, this one is even better. Also this is the first one that didn’t use the same dredged up phrases from her other books. I’m excited for the next book, and hope that her storytelling further improves with each new book.
I thoroughly enjoyed Hamish and Beatrice's story. I don't write spoilers, but I will say that Beatrice waited a very long time to find Hamish...and Hamish went through hell to finally find peace and love. I would have enjoyed a little more time learning about Hamish's life in Australia, and would love an extended epilogue telling of their life after... As usual, Christi Caldwell draws us in with her storytelling! So happy for Hamish and Beatrice!
Beatrice makes up a fake lover, but she accidentally uses the real name of a Scottish lord who has escaped from Australian exile with revenge on his mind. And when he discovers the letters she tucked away for her fictional lover, he decides that she's his entree into polite society.
The Scottish burr was a bit overplayed at times, but this was a sweet, spicy story with a couple of satisfyingly mature characters.
