Lily Graison is a USA TODAY bestselling author of historical western romances. She also writes a variety of genres under the name L. R. Grasion. Most all of her stories lean heavily to the spicy side with strong female leads and heroes who tend to always get what they want. On occasion, she can be found penning ‘sweet’ romances with chaste kisses and wholesome values. Ever a romantic, she believes in love at first sight and has a tendency to fall for bad-boy romance heroes.
I liked Wicked - Tempt me Not. It was a nice, short and sexy read i finished in less than 3 hours.
I would have given it 4 stars if not for the way it ended. Is that even called an 'ending'? Cause nothing was resolved. We still don't know if Holy is gonna cope with Devin being a famous, bad rockstar, and what the fans will do. If she will handle being on the newspapers, tv etc.
They haven't even said 'I love you' for christ sake!
I also lost count how many times Holy rolled her eyes at Devin. Every chapter... 'i roll my eyes'. Just please stop or i'm afraid your eyes will pop out or just keep on rolling nonstop for forever.
But it was still a nice, quick read. Very funny, hot and at times left me with a big grin on my face. I would have picked up book 2 immediately if it wasn't so expensive for, like, an 100 pages read.
I’ve been looking forward to this read. I’m a huge rock star romance fan so as soon as I found this I wanted to get my hands on it. It is also the first time I have read anything by Lily Graison.
First of all, I read this book start to finish in a few hours – it was only 109 pages but I found myself devouring them with ease.
If you want to know what the book is about you will need to read the book info because I’m not going to rehash, but I will say that I really enjoyed the start to this series and will definitely be reading all 4 books.
Devin was your typical highly confident rock star. He is completely sure of himself to the point that you can’t help laughing at it, so the author pulled off the rock star personality beautifully. Holly on the other hand isn’t as confident and no-where near as sexually experience as Devin – who has no doubt probably had sex with half the female population of the US. But Holly isn’t weak and actually has backbone, making for some really enjoyable bickering and hot, hot sex.
Favourite quote: “Fu*k!” “Anytime, darling,” he yelled up to her. “Just get your cute ass back down here and I’ll get straight to work on that.”
I'll admit I went into this a little bias. Being a fan of Olivia Cunning's Sinners "band" books I was expecting a little more.. If I rate this strictly on a romance level the book was very good. I really liked the romance between Roxy and Devin who is the lead singer of the rock band Wicked.. This book takes place at a cabin in Tennessee where Holly goes thinking she is meeting her friend there for a 2 week relaxing vacation but the friend at the last minute calls once Holly is already there and says she cant make it.. Then Devin arrives at the same cabin for a month to get his head straight and write after a long stint in rehab.. Seems there was a mix up but neither cell phones work and the closet town is 10 miles away. She refuses to bow down to him like one of his groupies and he refuses to let her keep saying no.. And then the fun begins.. We dont get to meet the band in this book which I would have liked.. But I am willing to continue on to read Luke, Mike and Christian's stories..
Read this as part of the Erotica Group Book of the Week Challenge.
I would rate this as 2.5 stars and I think I'm being very generous. I didn't connect at all with Devin and Holly. The story felt rushed and totally implausible.
The sexual chemistry (or lack thereof) didn't do much for me at all.
So I have been in a bit of a can't-a-girl-get-a-hot-bad boy? funk lately. All I want is a little smexy num time with a bad boy rocker/tattoo'd play toy...yet I had seemed to be failing to find that. Really I have two ladies to blame for this...Ms. Olivia Cunning & Mrs. Cherrie Lynn.
How can I blame these two authors you may wonder? EASY! They spoiled me to no end, and now nothing else has been able to take me Backstage and Rock Me, if you will.....until now!!
This is my first book I've read by Lily Graison, but I assure you it is NOT my last! I love how Holly and Devin both seem to find it amusing to get under each other's skin. I found their bantering and the little "game" they were playing, trying to see how one could piss the other one off more, very realistic. I mean if I showed up on vacation, in a remote no cell service, off the beaten path location only to be caught naked in a cabin that was also occupied by a asshole like Devin....yes yes let the games begin!
Devin full of his snide comments & sexual inuindo's, mixed with Holly's gunfire comebacks had me laughing out loud on several occasions. But that's not all...just under the service you see that they are both broken and not nearly as confident as they are trying to act, which only made me start to care about them. I also love the fact that there is an ACTUAL story/plot line here. It's not all..
Hi what are you doing in my cabin? *shrugs* O'wells I'm already naked, why don't you join me and lets make this thing happen?!?
Nope not here folks...it builds a bit...we fight for a few days...kinda like when that boy picked on you in the first grade only to find out that means he likes you, and then the magic happens and it is HOT, SEXY, LUST INDUCING...yet not over the top with details of owwie gooeyness that some might find gross. *coughs GRETA coughs* Then in the end it is soooooo....
HAHAHAA Nope I am NOT gonna tell ya! hehe I almost had ya didn't I? *waggles eyebrows*
Why not 5 stars you ask? Well this is just me being a spoiled brat...but give me another 100 or so pages and YES YES I would give a full five. With this book weighing in at only 100 pages it is a fast great read, but I fell for these two and I wanted MORE!!
Do yourself a favor...read this book, rape your hubz later, and don't forget to tell him I accept presents for inducing said rape;) lolz
This was a pretty good book it was a short quick read. Holly Baker is escaping the hassles of her big city life she arrives in the mountains of Tennessee and awaits the arrival of her best friend Roxy to start their two-week vacation. Their plans change when Roxy is called away at the last minute on business leaving Holly all alone in a cabin in the woods. Devin Shaw is the lead singer for the band Wicked after leaving rehab for his alcohol he is forced into seclusion by his manager to write new material and to stay out of trouble. Devin takes a shower and when he comes out Holly is standing in the living room naked. What's a girl to do when she finds out that she is stranded in a cabin with a hot guy Holly had two choices walk ten miles to the resort or stay and put up with the hot arrogant man. This was a really good book this is the first book in a new series to me and this is also my time reading this author. This book was fun Holly was sassy and I liked that Devin was the hot rock star that women fall all over and when Holly didn't it was a challenge to him. Holly and Devin had a lot of chemistry. I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series it was light and fun.
I love the sexy attitude Devin gives Holly all the time. I thought it was funny that he had red blotches and kept asking Holly to bathe him. She knew bathing him would leave to hot sexy make out with a hot shot sex god!😋 so glad he was able to get in touch with Holly again!
Somehow a cabin in the woods was overbooked much to Holly and Devin's dismay. After her friend, Roxy, bailed on Holly last minute she was forced to spend their 2 week vacation alone. Or so she thought...
Devin, front man for Wicked, was forced to spend a month alone, free of all distraction. It was either that or his band falls apart. They didn't think they were going to be spending their supposedly stress free vacation with a complete stranger. With no way to contact anyone, and not in the mood to walk 10 miles to the nearest phone, they are forced to stick it out together.
This book is roughly 100 pages. No matter what story line is being conveyed, not much could happen in 100 pages. Well, let me rephrase that... not much of a plot could happen. Everything is very rushed and they really only show the first 3 days of the trip and then skip 2 weeks in the future when she's leaving and then there is another skip a couple of months to where they are now. See? Not much to it. But that's what you're going to get with a 100 page book.
Other than that fact, the story line (or what little there was) was adorable. I liked both the characters very much. (there was only really two characters in this whole book, Holly and Devin. Roxy really only appeared for a second in the beginning and a second in the end) If you are looking for a short story to read while you are on the search for your next book this is definitely one to read. I'm actually going to read the rest of the series to see what happens with the other band members. Like I've said before, it's hard for me to resist rockstars.
They only spent 2 weeks together but yet they changed each others lives. This is where it's very unrealistic and if this was a longer book with more meat on its bone (WOW that was a horrible metaphor eeps sorry) then I would've been really annoyed. But because this is such a short book the author doesn't really give you time to be annoyed.
There were two instances where I was like whaaa with the story:
"He was grinning, his tongue caught between his teeth." "He rolled his tongue behind his teeth..."
These were the only instances were I didn't like because it was just weird imaginary for me. I couldn't picture these two things especially since they were said to be sexy and seductive. Didn't do it for me.
If you are looking for a short and fast read with nothing but romance then this book is FOR YOU!
Basic thoughts on Tempt Me Not: Within the first couple of chapters was I hooked on the story...Yes! Holly seems independant with not afraid of anything but is needing a break from her work and some alone time. Devin is having issues writing songs for the band and dealing with being a recovering alcoholic. Holly is suppose to be meeting her best friend at a cabin getaway for some R&R but her best friend ends up not being able to make the trip so Holly decides to take it on her own...enter Devin who's manager has sent him out to a remote location to get his head straightened out and work on getting some songs written without distractions. Devin acts like a typical guy who is attracted to a women while Holly attached to him as well is also playing hard to get. Holly and Devin are forced to share a cabin in the mountains isolated from everyone else with cell phones that are either dead or not getting any reception. Neither one whats the other there...the squirrel decides to change their fate. They spend two weeks together trying to tell themselves that they will forget about the other when they get back to their regular lives...only to discover that they were wrong. When they parted Holly wouldn't give Devin her number...instead she told him to have his people get ahold of her people. Problem is that Devin has no idea of how to find her...until the band is on a talk show and he is asked if there is someone in his life. Lucky for him, Holly is watching (because her best friend, Roxy, is a die-hard fan of the band) and hears his response to the question.
The story is presented in both Holly's and Devin's point of view and the author does a good job of making sure we know who's pov we are reading at the time and making sure we see both sides in equal amounts. I feel that it was tied up properly and moved into the next book smoothly. The author doesn't leave it with a cliff hanger but does leave it to where the reading will want to read the next book. She does hint as to which band member the next book is about and that it also involves Roxy. Their story at times seemed rush...for instance they when from being together for 3 days to the end of the 2 weeks in a turn of the page...what happened in the other 10 days that we, the readers, lost? There was also the quick step from the time they parted ways to when she sees him on the TV show.
This book starts with Holly, she was meant to go on holiday with her friend , but her friend lets her down and she ends up going on her own.
Devin is a Rock star out of control, he goes away to get him self sorted and to write some new songs. It turns out that the cabin is double booked and both end up sharing. Neither one is happy about it and both try to get one over on the other. This leads to Devin getting hurt and Holly ending up having to look after him. The two end up getting really close which then leads to an amazing hot steamy shower scene. This then leads to Devin writing a song for the first time in over two years. Devin and Holly spend an amazing two weeks together, getting to know each other and having some steamy sex. but the two weeks couldn't last forever and Holly has to go home but she finds she leaves her heart with him and she isn't sure she will ever get it back. The final good bye was so sad it would make the hardest of hearts melt and weep. Two months on and neither one have spoken to each other. Both find it hard and lonely without the other and when they come back together with an amazing reunion.
Over all view: Wow, I'm gonna have to say I loved this book. I found myself feeling really sorry for Devin even if he kind of asks for all he gets. He is a wicked by nature but deep down he is looking for someone to love. And Holly is a feisty woman with the witty sense of humour to get one over on Devin. I loved the way she could hold her own and out smart him with the witty comments and skimpy swimsuit.I love Lily's work her writing just flows really well, she just knows how to keep you reading. and I'm gonna have to say Lily you made me chuckle with this one. Thank you for an amazing read and I so cant wait to read the next book. To all of you out there who having read any of Lily's books, you so need to go check them out.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I met this author at the IRC convention last year and bought her boxed set of the books. I was recommened to read her series by another author I love to read.
So this book is about Devin who is a bad boy rocker who got sent to rehab and then sent to the mountains to get it together. Well he is shocked to find out that someone else is also renting the cabin he is staying in. Holly was supposed to spend the 2 week vacation with her bestie Roxy but she backed out due to work issues. Holly is naked and stunned stupid to see a man in her cabin. The sarcasm between the two is a riot. They are both doing everything they can to get the other to leave.
When Devin gets hurt the realtionship seems to change a bit and Holly and him actually TALK!! They even had conversations without fighting or sexual comments!! LOL The two are doing everything they can to get under the others skin. They both want the cabin to themselves but don't have phones or a car. The resort is 10 miles away annnnnnd they dont want to walk sooooo......annoy the other is the plan. LOL
I love that Holly will not be a groupie and Devin can't believe he cant sweet talk her in to bed like EVERY OTHER WOMAN!! I loved the book and can't wait to finish the series. I can't wait to get to read about the band members since we didnt get to meet them in this novel.
I love Lily Graison’s Western Romance, Willow Creek Series and could not wait to see how she does in Contemporary Romance. Yeah baby she did not disappoint.
Tempt Me Not is a sassy, fun and sexy short novel. What I love most about Lily Graison is her beautiful writing voice. Tempt Me Not suck me right in from the beginning with her witty and fun characters that I could not help but fall in love with them.
Holly the heroine is a spitfire that goes head to head with Devin the hero. I love how she has guts and plays at his own game.
Devin is a yummy rock star that I wouldn’t mind being stuck in a cabin with. He definitely had me giggling with his little remarks to Holly. He is use to having woman falling at his feet but boy does Holly make him work for it.
Their chemistry is sexy and fun from the beginning. I enjoyed how their time together slowly builds and when it does it is hot.
Towards the end kept me on the edge of my seat and it rocked. The ending was perfect and loved how it was done. Only wish it was longer to have more time with Devin and Holly. Tempt Me Not is a great start to a fun and hot series that I look forward reading about the rest of the band members.
Tempt Me Not by Lily Graison Wicked Series Book 1 Holly Baker has arrived up at a rented cabin in the hills of Tennessee. Nothing but nature around her. Her friend Roxy was suppose to be by her side but she called to say she couldn’t make it, after Holly already arrived. So here she was. Alone. Or so she thought. After returning from a nice rest in the hot springs pool she finds she is no longer alone.
Devin Shaw has had a rough two years. He single handedly messed up things for their band, Wicked. Thanks to his alcohol problems he spent the last year in rehab until his manager, Curt, got him out and to this mountain cabin to be completely alone to work on his music and get himself back together. Good thing Curt didn’t know about the sexy brunette that came with the cabin.
From the get go Holly does all she can do to not fall into Devin’s handsome smile and seducing ways, she knows her heart could get hurt and his wouldn’t. It’s a pretty quick read but not lacking for a story line at all and is definitely on the sexual side. Looking forward to how the next three stories play out. **Sexual situations and language http://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com/...
I really struggled, thinking on which rating to give this book. I feel terrible rating anything a two. There is potential in this author and this book. The story was cute, even. But I expect more in terms of editing and knowledge of English (example: the author incorrectly using "suppose" instead of the correct "supposed"). And the last couple lines of dialogue really read very cliche. I wanted to like this story so much more than I could.
Am I being picky? Yes. Am I a perfect writer, never making a mistake? No. But I am not a published author. I'm not even a college graduate. So, if I can spot this stuff (which seems elementary to me) I'm inclined to be more critical. And when an author has published as many books as this author has, I raise my expectations of them.
I'm aware this title was first released in 2008, which could suggest an explanation of inexperience of the author at that time, but that's really no excuse when you factor that this book was re-released digitally two months ago--not fixing the little things just seems lazy to me.
I hope this author has the resources or connections to sharpen her work. I think she'd really have some serious potential if given the right guidance. And I'd read her work again in the future, in hopes that she's grown in her craft.
Ms. Graison has come a long way in her writing since this was penned. I prefer her Willow Creek books over this series. There isn't anything necessarily wrong with this particular story, but the language and sex was coarse compared to her other books. Take my words with a grain of salt. This just isn't my preferred material, but I can respect the author's ability to reach out to a variety of readers.
It WAS a fast read and a quick escape from the day to day humdrums. Devin, the stressed rock star, started out as a total azzhat. Holly held her own, but both characters were pretty crude in the beginning. The plot was basic rock star meets girl which leads to steamy passion and a predictable happy ending. The wrap up DID give me warm fuzzies, even if it was a bit cliche.
Knowing the talent of this author, I recommend her work and will continue to read her books. Some of her historical westerns have been truly touching.
Holly Baker and her friend are supposed be vacationing at a remote Tennessee mountain cabin, but her friend flakes at the last minute. Holly is resigned to spending the next two weeks alone. But surprise!! She finds a Devin Shaw in her cabin after coming back from a relaxing day in the pool. Rock star Devin has been sent to a remote cabin to work on his next album and give his manager time to clean up the mess he's made of his life and career. He's shocked when Holly comes back to the cabin, especially since she's stark naked. Sorry to say, but this story is unoriginal (oh - they're stranded with no phone or internet until the shuttle comes to pick Holly up) and Devin is so arrogant and such a jerk that even his sexiness wasn't attractive. The story was very short with an eye roll ending.
Holly Baker can't believe she is on vacation by herself, after her best friend cancels last minute. When Rocker Devin Shaw shows up while Holly is on a walk, she finds herself in an embarrasing situation and under the highly erotic watchful eye of Devin.
Devin has made his desire known, repeatedly but Holly is not the type of girl to be labeled a groupie. When the temptation becomes too much to resist, Holly decides that it may not be all that bad to get to know Devin on a more personal level, after all it is a vacation.
Very fun, Devin and Holly ignite one another but Holly is pretty stubborn about falling for Devin's charms, which leaves Devin trying to figure out how to charm Holly.
This was a quick read. I enjoyed it but I was left wanting more.
Holly is at a cabin secluded in the mountains of Tennessee where she planed to be on vacation with her friend Roxy but with a sudden change in plans Holly is left to vacation alone for the two weeks. Then walks in Devon the lead singer of the band Wicked. A mixup has both Holly and Devin staying at the same cabin.
I didn't feel the chemistry between Devin and Holly but there was a definite lust factor. I hope to see their relationship continue in the next book in the series Leather and Lace.
This was a freebie I picked up on Amazon and read as a Book of the Week challenge for the Erotic book group.
Last minute vacation disaster, no cell service, 10 miles from civilization, and Holly finds herself sharing space with a hot rocker named Devin.
There are some unbelievable parts (the the cabin not having some kind of emergency phone line or direct line to the office was a distraction for me, that could have been better written). The banter back and forth between Holly and Devin was entertaining and the hot sex was yummy. The HEA was sweet and I would definitely be interested in reading more from this series..
Devin is the lead guitarist of the famous band, Wicked, is supposed to be taking some time alone in a secluded cabin. Holly is supposed to be enjoying a women's only getaway with her best friend, who bales at the last minute due to work commitments; so Holly goes alone, looking forward to a quiet week. Imagine both of their surprises when they find themselves booked in the same cabin! Holly has a smart mouth which makes for a funny read. Devin is HOT which makes for great sex scenes and romance.
So I pretty much thought that Devin was a prick in the beginning, but overall I was glad things played out the way they did. The cabin mix up thing was fun and I enjoyed Devin and Holly 19s story. I really loved Devin 19s confession scene, but I wanted more from the reunion and gushing with Holly 19s best friend. While the ending was satisfying, I was just left wanting more.
Tempt Me Not is a fun, sexy story that will leave you wanting more. I look forward to checking out more in the series!
Out of 5 star: Overall:2.5 P.O.V. alternating between Hero and Heroine Romance: 2.5 Sensuality: 2 Sex:2 Hero: Devin 4 Heroine: Holly Enjoyable: 2 Secondary Characters: 2 Likely hood of reading the rest of the series: 2
This probably could have been good if it had been a full length novel. As it is i was left wanting. It just give me enough to earn more than 2.5 stars.
I am glad I got this one free off the authors website. If I had paid for it I would have been pissed.
