Originally prepared for a July 2004 summer school held at Carnegie Mellon, these 12 papers provide background information on the science and technology of digital radiographic and fluoroscopic imaging systems as well as their testing and quality control. The opening chapter reviews the latest trends in the field of radiographic x-ray systems, describes the various machines available on the market, and identifies the characteristics of generators and x-ray tubes. Other topics include flat panel DR detectors, CCD digital radiographic detectors, AEC performance evaluation, quality control with digital receptors, equipment inspection, and the limitations of CRT displays.
