Noah is thrilled when the week's library theme is sea creatures. But when Noah can't find the stuffed shark, he is disappointed. Noah knows there is a shark in the library, and he is going to find it!
Cari Meister lives on a small farm in Minnesota with her husband, four sons, three horses, one dog and one cat. Cari enjoys running, snowshoeing, horseback riding, and yoga. She loves to visit libraries and schools!
I liked this graphic novel because it's a beginners graphic novel. This is great for a 1st grade reader who is branching off from picture books to books with more text. In the beginning of the book, the author explains how to read a graphic novel in kid friendly terms. The book is full of large pictures, some text, and characters with speech bubbles. The text shows students' thoughts in class using speech bubbles. These are thoughts we may not know if the text was written differently.
The content of the book had students completing a research project on a sea animal. Everyone got to pick an animal and Noah wanted to research sharks. He couldn't find the word shark in the basket, but later finds out that the word is stuck on the back of his shirt. He ends up getting to learn about sharks and is happy at the end of the story.
Noah's weekly visit to his school library was a little disappointing when the sea creature that he got wasn't what he wanted. He spent his time looking for reading materials and other items about sharks, although he had a whale, but in the end it wasn't a wasted visit.
