I downloaded this book from the library and the cover was significantly different. It is funny cause I was thinking of my review and I was mulling over how much this read like a Harliquen romance. It is Nocture which is the paranormal branch. It is a decent read with interesting but not overly vivid or different world building. Several familiar tropes like mates and shadow organizations. Some mild lack of communication and martyr issues. With these types of formula books I always find myself wondering if it could have been better fleshed out and with a little more imagery. 3.7 stars.

This book was pretty good. The premise, Bren is a man that turns into a flock of 75 ravens, but he is the last of his kind unless he finds the one woman who is destined for him. Miranda is able to see and talk to ghosts after a car accident, working with the FBI she helps them find the killers after talking to the people they kill. After a particularly hard case she needs a break and is steered to her FBI friend's cabin, where there is a strange neighbor. You can see the next part coming where the two meet and fall in lust, discovering Miranda is the one that Bren has been waiting for. But the journey to their accepting it is a fun one. Throw in someone trying to kill Miranda, along with a secret group determined to kill the last of the ravens you end up with all sorts of crazy going on. But of course they get together, but with a fun twist at the end. A fun "trashy romance" book to read.

Interesting story. It falls into the "fated mate" category, where the hero has special powers and the heroine, while she can talk to ghosts, really has no purpose except to be his mate. Then again, he can't have children with anyone but her. This is not my favorite trope, I have to admit. The heroine has been working with police to solve crimes, and needs a break so she goes to stay in a cabin owned by her FBI friend, on the mountain where the hero lives. The plot involves a bad guy who thinks he's a good guy and that anyone different is probably evil, plus an underling who thinks all freaks should die, evil or not. The suspense plot comes close to overwhelming the romance, and the "fated mate" stuff is a shortcut to true love. It's a good story with a lot of plot. I liked it.

Interesting concept (raven shifter). What I didn't like (and this is why I'm giving the book a 2 instead of a 3), was this quote "creation was inevitable." The paragraph went on to say that using a condom wouldn't prevent conception. I don't care much for books that take away choice and when/if a woman decides to have a baby. Miranda is something like a "destined mate" and she is the only one Bren can procreate with.

This was interesting as the hero is basically the last of his kind. He's not the typical shifter in that his "animal" form isn't one it's a multitude of one form. He hasn't found his mate yet, so he thinks that he'll definitely be the last one. She's had a life altering accident that has left her seeing ghosts. She's working as a consultant for the FBI, but she's pretty much burned out. They meet and now someone is out to get them.... Who is their enemy?

I think that this book is an amazing book. I loved Bren and Miranda's relationship. It had romance filled action and danger. I could not stop reading it. I believe everyone who reads this book is going to fall in love with this book. I truly enjoyed this book and my favorite part of this book was...how Bren saved Miranda's life twice in the book. At first he didn't want to admit that she was his kademair.

This was a well written, interesting story with a unique plot. Only problem I had was I couldn't connect with the heroine. Even the hero had his moments where I wasn't exactly rooting for him. Their relationship is precarious at best and rushed along by circumstance. Not a bad story but not the greatest romance either.

Since this was a Silhouette Nocturne, I was not expecting much, but I desperately needed a Linda Winstead Jones fix so I picked this one up! I was pleasantly surprised - there was some actual heat between the characters and a quick, fun story. Worth a look.

This was a really good book. Had me from the start and different from my usual paranormals. Never read one with a raven shape shifter.

This was a pretty good book. I enjoyed reading it and it was very interesting esp. with the ravens which is a new twist on the shifter thing.
