This was a very satisfactory conclusion to a lovely series. The concept and plot were great and well executed. The characters were fun and dynamic, growing over the course of the series. I also really liked the artwork. This volume included a lot more flashbacks than the previous volumes, but they worked well in helping to wrap up the series. This was a series I would absolutely recommend to others.
4.5 This was much better than previous volumes so I'm glad I didn't give up on the series even though it had a long buildup (and wasn't what I expected). I finally feel like all the characters are well developed, and the end is quite decent.
One thing that really bothers me though is Yukiharu's father. He's not really mentioned by him apart from that they weren't close, he was never around and so made his mum cry. Here there's an attempt at showing he was a great guy who just neglected his real family to buy the secret 2nd house etc for the cats.
He comes off as terribly unsympathetic which could've been fixed by showing more flashbacks of him, maybe Yukiharu exaggerated how bad it was etc. But no, since just before his son was born the guy started what's almost a 2nd family and got into debt instead of idk, telling his wife at some point in 18 years. I'm sure his family would've been fine if he was honest, and it bugged me since it was the reason behind the plot.
Okay, this is where things get super stupid. Shou is taking out loans and buying a house for the cat because his wife is afraid his cat allergies will kick in and they'll make him sick. Isn't the simplest answer just to tell her they're bakeneko? Does she have a bad history with bakemono or something?

Okay, the series is still a tad strange, but the ending is heartwarming. We learn more about everyone's backstories, including Yukiharu's dad and how he ended up so close to the catlords and why he would have sent Yukiharu there after things went wrong for their family vacation and his parents both died. There are still some misunderstandings, but overall, this strange family seems to have found their new normal with the family they choose to stay with.

Loved this series tho, didn’t expect such a light hearted manga to get so deep though. Loved the characters nonetheless tho. Fuckin love this manga, I spent twenty minutes searching for the fifth instalment just to find out this was the end
So sad the series has ended but so happy with the ending. Such a cute series. This volume definitely hit in the feels at times but overall super adorable.
what a great way to end the series! but it did get me teary eyed. loved it, this is officially a comfort series i’ll revisit on a rainy day whenever i want something cozy and fun to escape into.
