I'll start positive, because I'm trying not to be a jerk about a book a lot of people like. This is a romance novel that bothers to have the protagonists get to know each other, like each other, do nice things for each other, and just generally have a reason at all to care about each other before all the world saving drama starts. What a novel (get it, did you get it) concept!!! I applaud Maas for writing a relationship that mostly doesn't make me want to throw things.
But, I just feel like, when you're writing a book, if you care that what you're writing makes any sense, it's not that hard to Google, "how much does a deer weigh", and then give some thought to whether it makes sense for a character you have described as a scrawny, half starved woman to just casual like sling a deer carcass over her shoulders and walk a bunch of miles with it. And if you don't care whether the details make any sense, well, why are you bothering? And don't get me started on the lack of depth to the characters and contradictions in the world building. It just felt lazy.
Anyway, overall wasn't a fan, mostly skimmed it, don't plan to read the rest of the series.
When I started reading the 1st book, after the first few chapters and nearly gave in,and I thought its some kinda childrens' tale.... but my friend told me to keep on reading... and im not sure if I wish I havent read it as it ruined my sole! I havent sleep for a week until I finished reading the first two books. After that I was lost and depressed that the bookes were over, I coudlnt concentrate at work,my hubby became super annoying as I was already living in Rhys' world for a week and I wanted to stay there 🥹🥹 Now googling "how to get over" these books or how to find the right therapist lol... 🫠🫠🤣 It reminds me of drugs: you get very high highs and super low lows..... never thought a book can give you THAT many emotions, where one minute you're holding your breath, then shivering and then something wild awakens in you. Im glad i got into it,but then also sad, as normal mortal world will never look as great now.... 💔
I’m so glad I got this. I bought this so I could see if I wanted to continue each series and boy did it start a rabbit hole! I love all of the books I’ve read so far. I read the first books in this and then since I loved them I continued to purchase each series. If you’re curious on each series but don’t want to go buy each series until you know if you will like them, then definitely purchase this bundle! I love them! There’s adventure, love, lust, assassins, kingdoms, battles and so much more!
Great as far as adventure books go. Disappointing as this was suggested to me as an erotic romance book. Supposedly it gets better in the proceeding books.
This was my first fantasy read after a very long break, therefore I was hesitant. After 3 chapters I was bored and put it down thinking I'd never understand what all the hype was about..
Then after much persuasion from a friend I picked it back up and oh boy was I glad. A love story with lots of sexual tension and an in depth back story/history of the world made it an epic read. I catch myself thinking of the story throughout my day and a book hasn't had that effect on me in a long time.
P.s I find Feyre a badass! She inspires me. I am very much looking forward to the next book.
I read this series throughout the summer and fall and it is definitely some of my favorite literature I’ve read! Reading this series gave me the same feeling as opening a gift as a child. It was the perfect mix of fantasy, adventure, danger, smut, plot twists, love triangles and more. I will for sure be re-reading and wish I could read it again for the first time. People judge the “faerie” aspect but besides their physical description, they act like normal humans so I just pretended they were humans lol.
This adult fantasy romance reads like a mature reimagining of Beauty and the Beast with Twilight undertones. The protagonist consistently makes frustrating decisions, deliberately ignoring warnings and putting herself in danger. The romantic elements, while marketed as steamy, are sparse and uninspired. The potential of the fantasy world is undermined by a weak main character whose development feels stagnant.
Although I enjoyed this series, I do not feel this series is complete! There are so many characters who don’t have closure, although you do get closure for the FMC! Loved the story, enjoyed the themes, and really liked the romance story and twists!
I was disappointed with this series. Everyone raves about it so I picked it up. But the first book was very slow and I getting answers took too long. I decided to put it down and don't finish the series.
Book 1 of 5. Fantasy. After Feyre kills a wolf she is taken to the Spring Court as a prisoner of faires. There she falls in love with the High Lord. He eventually takes her back to her family until she realizes she must go back to save hi and all the Lords of all the Courts. Really good.
I'm trying to read different genres this year. I read the first book and don't need to read the next one. It's too much fantasy and beauty and the beast for me personally.
Jai aimé Le monde, l'histoire les personnages. L'écriture est simple. Une romantasy parfaite pour s'évader apres la journee de boulot en ces temps troublés!
