When an old hag gives Jack a creepy looking enchanted bear named Hush, his luck goes from bad to worse as he soon finds himself being dragged under the floorboards of an eccentric orphanage and into the realm of Requirden. Jack must face his repressed memories while battling against the voices in his head that overwhelm him, but will he ever find his way back to the reality he once knew, or will he find himself captive in an unforgiving world of magic.
Leave the grimy streets of London behind and crawl with Jack and Hush through a dark and twisted realm in the world of Make-Believe.
On days when it is too cold and wet for adventures outside with my dog, I will happily curl up with a good book. I spend much of my time in the world of my imagination, a place that is often dark and ominous but the cracks let in just enough light to scare away the monsters in the shadows.
I can’t even describe how amazing this world is that was I was thrust into when I began reading this book. Just from the description on the back of the book; I knew this was going to be my cup of tea! I absolutely love this book; it was so very intriguing which I will go into in the next paragraph but this one is to just just how good Enchanten's Writer aka Kaida Nevermore’s writing style is… the book gave me the best kind of creppyiness to keep the reader engaged! It was just an amazingly good read. It has a uniqueness that I haven’t read in quite awhile! (🌟📖)
The story is about a boy who is homeless and all he has is his teddy bear. The book is told in duel pov’s, the teddy bear (🧸🧸🧸) and Jack’s. (The young boy) Now here’s the really cool part, it’s never explicitly mentioned but I think Jack is suffering from a mental illness. Everything is just brilliant in the writing; there’s two contrasting places…realms if I may… Enchanten and Requirden. This book can be dark but that’s what I love about it…not everything in life in peaches and cream. I love the it’s your interpretation of the novel… you can choose what you believe.
This book had me gripped from the moment I started it to the second I finished. I immediately went back and started flipping through the pages to what I considered the best parts. This book is the definition of horror mixed with fantasy…there was a darkness between the lines. I loved this! I loved everything from the writing style to the relationship between Jack and his bear. The symbolism that drips between the words is masterful. You must do yourself a favor, and read this book!!! I cannot recommend this enough!!! I also just found out this author has other books out in this world so I myself need to read more of Kaida Nevermore! This author has captivated me; and I can’t wait to see where else this author will take me in their writing. Hush, deserves so much praise! Final rating on this book for me 5 out of 5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and 5 out of 5 teddy bears. 🧸🧸🧸🧸🧸
The author did a #tiktok arc giveaway, i entered just to give support boost and she send me a copy in post to review honesty on here. i did not expect a copy so i am surprised to be having to do a review lol i made an account to do so.
Story is written in mainly 2 perspectives and it is of jack (POC) and his teddy bear hush. The boy who hears voices is taken away into a world that is much how hell could be portrayed. he needs to get out but he keeps getting lured further into the world. hush is a magic teddy that jumps into the world through the same black hole that swallows jack and though he is seperated from him they soon find each other after a scary and dark course of events that happen. the story is very dark and when i read at night it made me uncomfortable in places especially the deformed bodies coming out of the walls in the cottage. I like how the author shows the boys vunrablity and his struggle with his mental issues of hearing voices and the teddys lack of confidence in saving the boy. I thought maybe the entire story was all in Jacks head as he was in a padded room when he got taken to requiden but theres a nice twist at the end. I like the imagination of the author it is different. i think hush is well written for a #indiebook but could have been more detailed in the world building i want to learn more about the dragon. thank you for giving me oppertunity to read :) *** i would like to add image but dont know how
