I wasn’t expecting it. The way my life would be irrevocably altered in seconds.
Sophie was a painful part of my past I’d rather forget. Fifteen years ago, she packed her things and hightailed it without a word. Now she’s back—but she brought with her my teenage daughter, whom I didn’t know existed.
At first, I felt betrayed.
I don’t know how to be a father.
The problem is—I don’t have a choice.
Sophie is sick and running out of time.
But even with the dark clouds swirling with fear and uncertainty, I have one guiding light—Frankie. We’ve been darting around our feelings for a while. But maybe we’ve left it too long because I have responsibilities now. People who need me to take care of them. But maybe Frankie needs me to take care of her too. And if I lose sight of that, will I end up putting her in the ultimate danger?

Frankie & Raid were one of the couples that I was most excited about in this series since I read Gravitate and I loved the originality of their love story, the turns their love took and that K.E. Osborn gave us with this book two strong female characters that I loved so much!
Frankie was my favorite character in this book, a lovely club girl, who loves taking care of others and life in Defiance, but who also has a dream that wants to fulfill, which I would have loved for the author to delve into much more, but still makes this girl much more interesting. Without a doubt, Frankie has one of the most beautiful hearts and I loved the way she was always there for Raid, but especially for Sophie & Addi at the most difficult times.
Another thing I loved was K.E. giving us a glimpse into the past of Raid, his relationship with Sophie and how things exploded between the two of them, something that broke my heart a lot, besides, I also really liked that the author extended the scene of the reunion between Raid & Soph a little more to know EVERYTHING he felt when he found out that has a teenage daughter he knew nothing about, and I have to say I LOVED the way Raid took the new turn in her life: how he tries to build a relationship with Addi, takes care of Sophie during her illness and at the same time tries to let Frankie know that she is an important part of his life and that he loves her, although I didn't really like his meltdown at the end of the book.
I think the love story of Frankie & Raid has been one of the simplest I've read, because even though it's a slow burn and the situation with Soph & Addi it's not easy at all, it's always very evident that Raid & Frankie have feelings for each other, that they are important to each other, support each other unconditionally and are there when needed, and I really liked the progress of their plot, the way Frankie becomes involved with Addi, and how the four of them together make a little family.

The NOLA Defiance MC Series is a spin-off from the Houston Defiance MC Series. Don’t worry if you haven’t read the previous series, you won’t be lost in any way that I can think of at the moment. That doesn’t mean that any of the books within each series can be read as a standalone, because they cannot, because that is the way of MC romance series.
I #bingeread this entire series (all 6 books) between July and August (2023) and it was one of the best reading experiences of my life! I love MC romances and KE knows how to bring it in this genre so it was time well spent for this reader!
Captivate is the fifth book in the series and it is by far the most emotional. There’s all the suspense and action one would expect from the MC itself, but our leads take us on an emotionally driven journey that basically had me crying almost always! Without giving out any of the plot, there’s more than just Raid and Frankie finding their HEA going on. To be perfectly frank, I’d say “they” and the “MC” took a back seat to Sophie and her circumstance. If you read the book this will probably make a heck of a lot more sense because I’m not detailing any of it for you LOL But, I will say that this story was unique in that KE wove the highly emotional plot-point right in with the gritty MC plot seamlessly and spectacularly. Since I was doing a #bingeread of this series, it was a change of pace I appreciated. Very low on the sexy-sexy but highly charged with angst and emotion. The story didn’t hold the predictability factor the previous ones had and that made me super happy.
Raid and Frankie have been friends for a long time. He was part of the NOLA Defiance motorcycle club and she was the head girl of the club (this is the description for her that I liked better). Even though none of them wants to admit the attraction that's between them, they keep flirting and finding the way to one another every time. When someone from Raid's past shows at NOLA's door, suddenly Raid ends up with a teenage daughter.
From then on Frankie was the person, that was there for him. Every time. She is in love, but Raid's attitude towards her is constantly hot and cold. At one moment he wants her, the next he doesn't because his daughter is his priority.
There were plenty of sparks and hot scenes, which I loved. They were written perfectly. The story was nice and I liked both Frankie and Raid. But I still feel irritated about Reid. I do understand where his priorities are, but with this you are confusing the one person that you can lean on. What irritates me the most was his constant push and pull coming from him. When you love someone, just let go, don't make decisions that can hurt the person that loves you.
Other than that, I enjoyed the story.
I received an ARC from Grey's Promo and this is my voluntary review.
This author has done it yet again with bringing an MC book that has it all from suspense, steam, drama and doing it such a way that made this a huge page turner for me. I loved the family aspect of this book and how Raid kept putting his newly found daughter’s needs before his own. Frankie was an awesome female lead in this book because she was another who put others first.
As for the suspense it was a big nail biter that had me praying for that HEA I needed from this book. As always, I fell all over again for the men from the NOLA Defiance MC with the way they had each other’s backs all the while fighting for their club.
I always feel that when I read a book this good, I don’t do justice to it in my reviews because this is a book that is a must read for all MC lovers out there.
5* Raid & Frankie have been flirting around each other for ages. She's the Head club girl but Raid has put stops on it waiting for their time to come. However, when his ex Sophie turns up 14 years later with Addilyn she needs his help. I enjoyed reading this story the character of Frankie is lovable and finding out what happened with Raid & Sophie shows we don't always make the right decisions.
Such a great story filled with emotion and personal development. Raid had is heart broken years ago and has never had the desire to invest in another relationship. But lately Frankie has been making him feel things he hasn’t in a very long time. Just when he thinks about pulling the trigger with Frankie, the one that got way walks back into his life and she’s not empty handed. Reading how Raid, Frankie, Sophie and Addie all learn how to move through such a complex time was emotional. And of course there’s always a threat to the club and that comes into play just when things seem to back to to normal. Raid must rally himself to save one of the most important people in his life.
Love this series Love the Defiance mc nola Heartwrenching Raid and Frankie's intense emotional heartstopping broken love story All the feels Ready for Hoodoo and Maxxy
Raid's life changed suddenly when the woman who abruptly left him fifteen years ago turns up at the club terminally sick and with the daughter he never knew he had in tow. Poor Addi had been told that her Dad had died so it was as much a shock to her as it was to him. Frankie had been his guiding light but this complicates things as his priorities have changed but Frankie needs him too. Can they find a way to all work together, become a family and have a future together?
I really enjoyed that this was a continuation of the story of Raid and Frankie which meant we got a little more background on Raid. I loved the way that even after Sophie and Addi arrived there was still the sexual tension between Raid and Frankie and that Frankie became the strong and continuous reassurance that Addi needed in her new life as well as a support to Sophie which turned the four of them into a blended family. This was an emotional story which will definitely pull at your heartstrings and as usual, there are moments of danger and drama. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is some mature content.
This author really knows how to yank on your heart strings to hard that your chest is aching from your heart being displaced and broken. This is not a quick and light read. Trigger warnings as the main plot has to do with an individual dying from cancer. Poor Raid ends up stuck between his responsibilities and what he knows should be his focus, and his ever growing need and want for Frankie (the head club girl). Personally, I don’t think that Raid was being completely held back by the sudden change in his life circumstances but also his underlying fear. He was making a lot of unnecessary complications and that was annoying after awhile. Frankie is written without practically any flaws. She’s sooooo selfless, always doin everything for others, can’t bend over to help Raid and the new additions enough, etc. etc. That was also too much for me and she came across as selfless doormat at many points. I love the writing and the book overall because it has all of the aspects I adore from this writer, but it is a four star read because Frankie and Raid annoyed the piss out of me after awhile.
You can't, not love Raid and Frankie's love story. Your heart might break for this biker. Losing his sweetheart when still young. He got tough. Yet he decide to give love a go again. And the past came hurtling back into his life. And his love is on hold. Responsibilities won the battle. This book captured me as did all the Nola books. Going through the drama and violence with everyone again, but still I'm on their side. My heart broke a little for the pain involved, but KE did such a good job dealing with everything. You will love this book.
I’ve loves this hole series so far but this book stands out. I find it was much more emotional then the others but still kept the danger and some spice aspect like the other books have.
Frankie is just the perfect girl for not only the club and their family but to help Raid and Addi. Addi broke my heart and Raid OMG I hurt for him In so many level.
Addi, Raid and Frankie heal each other trough their pain and in the end find a family together.
Raid’s ex blows in with a child he didn’t know about because she is dying. He seems all over the place, ditches his feeling for Frankie, seems scattered. This story just couldn’t keep my attention.
I have wanted Frankie and Raid’s story since the beginning of this series and every book that came out afterwards gave us some more insight from the characters that there was definite attraction between them and everyone was wondering when they would pull the trigger and admit what they’re feeling.
Jay AKA “Raid” how does life planned out with a girl she knew she wanted to marry. But then one day he gets home from work and finds a letter at her apartment, cleaned out telling him that it was over. The last phone call was her begging him not to go looking for her and to make a good life. He never understood it, or knew why, but he respected it, and never looked for her again.
That was when he spiraled, and took a completely different path in life. That was when hurricane of. NOLA Defiance MC found him and offered him a job to be their tech guy for the MC. And he ended up finding the place that he belongs.
Raid has never been in a relationship since his ex, and never plan on being in one again. He just jumped from woman to woman, but Frankie the head club girl is making him rethink things. Just when Raid has fallen, and about to admit his feelings to Frankie, somebody ends up at the gates of NOLA MC.
Raid is speechless to see Sophie at the MC. But he’s even more speechless when she’s standing next to a girl who happens to be his daughter that he knew nothing about and Sophie has a cap over her head showing that she’s sick and by sick he could tell she’s not going to make it much longer. Raid realizes in that moment, he hast to put his feelings towards Frankie aside to be there for Sophie and their daughter Addie.
Frankie has been the head club girl for years and she loves it but she also wants to have something outside of the club so she has joined college and been doing both. She has really strong feelings for Raid but she knows that a brother and a club girl is not looked highly upon so she’s been fighting her feelings. But, just when she thinks that they’re both getting ready to admit it Raid’s ex girlfriend, and his daughter Addie show up. She knows that now is not the time to pursue anything that he needs to be there for his daughter and his ex who is very sick and won’t be here much longer. But, his hot and cold attitude towards her arm is really tug and I’m pulling out a heart strings and she’s not sure how long she can deal with it.
If that wasn’t enough drama, add the Iron Chains MC. They are arrival MC in NOLA. The president is an ex-member of NOLA Defiance MC. He wasn’t liking how all the brothers were falling in love, and getting married so he left and started his own MC with the approval of hurricane and with other rules. But when they start crossing lines, not following the rules and lying Defiance needs to step in and put a stop to it. But The Iron Chains won’t take lightly to White Defiance how to say, and they will not just stop doing everything that they’re doing because they were told to.
When I tell you, I started this book and I cannot put it down! I am so in love with Raid. He took Sophie and Addie in with no questions, asked and took care of them every single day. Yes, he was mad that Sophie didn’t tell him about his daughter, but he for gave her quickly, and really truly cared about her and wouldn’t let her out of his sight for one minute. But, the hot and cold attitude towards Frankie got to me at times. Bc she bent over backwards for him, for Sophie, for Addie, and ESP for the club. I wish he would’ve realized that he could’ve been there for Sophie, Addie as well, as Frankie together, instead of trying to put one above the other.
And, for Frankie, she is probably one of my favorite girls of the series. She is just genuinely such a genuinely sweet woman who bends over backwards for everybody, without any questions, asked, and without anything expected in return.
K. E. Osborn always brings drama to her MC books and this one was no different. I loved every minute of it. And I am so super excited for Hoodoo and Maxxy next!
This is the only word to explain how I was when reading Raid and Frankie's story. CAPTIVATE is the fifth installment in KE Osborn's NOLA Defiance MC series, and by far the most emotional. My heart broke, tears flowed, laughter blurted out, and rage simmered, such was the power of KE's words. Raid and Frankie had been circling one another for quite a while, so I knew their story would be special, and it was.
The opening chapter sets the scene as to why Jay 'Raid' Goodwin became a member of NOLA Defiance MC. Thinking he had his life all mapped out, Jay was devastated when his girlfriend Sophie suddenly left with no explanation. His life crumbled around him until he joined the MC and became their tech guru. He's found where he belongs and has his sight set on claiming a certain woman. Frankie is head club girl, she's the one who organizes "homelife" for the members and their families. I adored Frankie, she was full of life, selfless, continually putting others before herself, she was also looking for ways to better herself, and she also had a HUGE crush on a man she never thought she could have. Just when Raid and Frankie are about to admit to the draw between them, Raid's past comes back to haunt him. Sophie returns and with her is fourteen-year-old Addy, the daughter he never knew he had.
This is a highly emotional story given the circumstances surrounding Sophie and her return. Even though she broke Raid's heart, he readily accepts Sophie and Addy into his life, making them his priority. Frankie is incredible, she takes Addy under her wing giving her comfort, support, a shoulder to cry on, allowing a bond to form between them. Raid is feeling conflicted, he feels a responsibility toward Sophie and Addy, but he also wants to act on his feelings toward Frankie but doesn't feel it is the right time. He's one man trying to care for, protect, and love the three women most precious for him. Is he making the right choices, or is he letting fear get in the way?
While Raid is dealing with the circumstances that have been thrown at him in his personal life, he is also assisting the club in dealing with a situation that has arisen with the Iron Chains MC. Revenge and retribution takes a nasty turn when a member of the Defiance family is at risk, who? I loved the interaction of the other members, especially Hurricane and Hoodoo, and I mustn't forget to mention La Fin, the club's pet alligator. Frankie's new friend Jasmine provides some humour as well as some sadness in regard to her situation.
CAPTIVATE was heartfelt, emotional, suspenseful, and raw. It has also become one of my all-time favourite reads from this amazingly talented author.
Next up is Fixate, Hoodoo and Maxxy's story, and after witnessing some of their interesting conversations it is going to be a cracker of a story.
CAPTIVATE is the fifth instalment in KE Osborn’s contemporary, adult NOLA Defiance MC erotic, MC romance series. This is thirty-five year old, Jay ‘Raid’ and thirty year old, club girl Frankie’s story line. CAPTIVATE can be read as a standalone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Raid and Frankie) CAPTIVATE follows in the wake of the appearance of ghosts from the past. Approximately fifteen years earlier our hero Jay had fallen in love with his best friend Sophie but hours before Jay was about to propose, Sophie ghosted Jay without looking back. Fast forward to present day Jay, now known as Raid, and a member of the NOLA Defiance MC, comes face to face with the woman that destroyed his heart but Sophie is sick , and she isn’t alone. Raid has a daughter, a young woman he knew nothing about, a fourteen year old teenager that is struggling with what is happening and why. Meanwhile, Raid’s attraction to club girl Frankie must be put on hold in the wake of the impending grief and fall-out of Sophie’s return. As Raid battles between head and heart, Frankie takes Addi under her wing, knowing life as she knows it is about to change. What ensues is the building relationship between Frankie and Raid, as Raid struggles to navigate fatherhood, and the death of someone he once loved.
Meanwhile, the NOLA Defiance MC continue to have problems with Iron Chains MC. From human trafficking to stolen drug shipments, the Iron Chains MC is pushing into the Defiance territory, a push that will directly affect the lives of the people Raid loves.
The relationship between Frankie and Raid is a ‘friends’ to lovers relationship. Frankie is the top club girl, and as such her job is to ensure everyone is happy and knows their place but Frankie, having been with most men in the club, only has eyes for our story line hero, a man who continues to push our heroine to the side. With the appearance of Raid’s past, Frankie accepts that his heart and mind are with someone else but our heroine is strong enough to know, that there is little reason to be jealous of a ghost from the past. The $ex scenes are erotic and passionate.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and dynamic secondary and supporting characters including many of the NOLA Defiance MC members and Iron Chains MC. We are introduced to Raid’s daughter Addilyn, and her mother Sophie, as well s Frankie’s friends and classmates Jasmine and Dan. The requisite evil has many faces.
CAPTIVATE is a story of secrets and lies, family and relationships, forgiveness and acceptance, grief and love. The premise is heart breaking and emotional; the romance is provocative and intense; the characters are charismatic and strong willed.
✨MC Romance ✨Roommates ✨Friends to Lovers ✨Surprise Daughter ✨Head Club Girl x Tech Guy ✨Somewhat Forbidden
This is the 5th book in the NOLA Defiance MC and it follows Frankie and Raid. Raid and Frankie have been friends for years and the sparks have been flying between them for quite some time, when they finally decide to maybe move on those sparks and feelings Raidf is surprised by his past. At the end of Incinerate he is surprised by his dying ex-girlfriend and a teenage daughter he didn't know existed. Now he has to take care of them and get to know Addi as fast as possible before he is the only parent she has left, which leaves his relationship with Frankie on the backburner again, or does it?
I have liked Frankie and Raid in every book so far and I have always seen the chemistry that those two have, so I was really excited to get to read their story. That being said, I sometimes felt like they had more chemistry in previous books than this one. I totally get that this is due to Raud becoming a parent to a teenage girl and having to take care of Sophie and provide her as much comfort as he can before she dies, but I still felt like there was something missing at times between Raid and Frankie.
I absolutely adored the relationship between Frankie and Addi, getting to know Frankie better by her telling Addi more about her past and telling Raid that she knows how Addi might feel since she also lost a parent when she was a teenager. I also adored how it wasn't awkward between Sophie and Frankie, and how Sophie even encouraged Frankie to pursue a relationship with Raid and not waste precious time when they don't know how long they might have.
That was also one of the main things to take from this book for me personally, that you shouldn't wait on things that you really want because you never know how much time you have left. Especially when it comes to feelings and relationships, you shouldn't wait on telling a person how you feel because sometimes it is too late if you wait too long.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I knew K.E. Osborn was an amazing writer and the 5th book in her NOLA Defiance MC series just proves it. Captivate is a heartfelt journey of life and death and how things always come full circle. The way K.E. Osborn explains the feelings and emotions of her characters is like none other I've found and this book does not disappoint. This is Raid's story with all his heartbreak, loss, and love. Raid is the resident MC hacker who has been attracted to Frankie since he met her. He's never allowed himself to feel more because she's a club whore and he's already had his heart broken before. Just when he makes her believe there's a chance his ex Sophie shows up with his teenage daughter Addilyn that he had no clue existed. With the way Sophie ended their relationship, I wouldn't blame Raid for hating her but I'm so glad he is able to put that aside. Sophie came with the heartbreaking news that she has cancer and is dying. She's really there because she needs him to take Addilyn when she's gone. Through all of this Frankie is determined to be a friend and help Raid and Addilyn any way she can. And without her, I don't think either of them would have made it through this. So much is going on at one time in this book with threats against the MC, a hurricane, allies not keeping their word, and trying to make Sophie and Addilyn as comfortable as possible. It's making their heads are spinning. I gave this book a 5-star rating and a 4-spicy rating because of how beautifully it was written. This book had tears in my eyes so many times I lost count. It made me sad and happy at the same time, I just loved it. Raid was forced to face an unbelievable situation and come out on the other side stronger and better than he was. This book taught the club not to waste a minute and to live to the fullest because you never know when it can end. I highly recommend reading this one.
Captivate is the reason I read K E Osborn’s books. The passion and emotions of her words. The incredible characters she creates. Raid and Frankie were finally ready to admit what they have felt for each other when Sophia, his ex, comes back into his life with their 14-year old daughter. A daughter he never knew existed. Sophia informs him she is dying and wants him to raise their daughter. Raid instantly accepts Addy and promises to always be there for her. Both he and Addy have missed the first 14 years of her life. He offers to take care of Sophia in her last days and opens his home, along with his MC family to her and Addy. Raid now makes Sophia and Addy his main priority. But what about Frankie. Amazing woman that Frankie is she immediately goes to Addy and offers to help her in this horrible time. She could have been unfriendly to both Sophia and Addy but instead accepted them and tried to make them feel comfortable. She understood what Addy was going through since she was the same age as Addy when Frankie lost her mom. Both Frankie and Addy formed an instant bond. Something that would help Addy when her mom finally passed away. The tears I cried for this family. The emotions I felt for what they were going through. Raid and Frankie getting together may have taken a back seat to caring for Sophia and Addy but in the end their love saw them through and made them stronger than ever. One thing is for certain with Defiance MC, family will always come first.
Thanks Greys and KE for sending me a copy of this book to read and review.
This is part of the NOLA defiance MC but can be read as a standalone.
Raid is the tech guy for the MC but before he joined the Nola Defiance he had a straight laced 9-5 tech job, he was in a happy relationship and preparing to take the next steps, until one day everything changed his girlfriend left him with no true reasoning other than he needed to make something of himself.
Fast Forward 15 years a lady and teenager rock up at the MC home turning Raids life upside down.
Frankie is the head club girl. She is strong and fierce, she takes no crap and all the Guys of the MC respect the hell out of her. Raid and Frankie have had a connection for a long time but have never let their feelings develop further. SO when Sophie and Addi turn up the progress they had made falls to the side. Frankie is incredibly supportive to all throughout the whole story and truly is a remarkable women.
Even through her own pain and the hurt that she faces in the twists and turns of this book, she always manages to put Raid, Addi and Sophie above herself. She truly is wonderful.
This story is heart-breaking, emotional but beautiful. Its a real slow burner which at Times became a little frustrating but the back story in this will keep you hooked and make you fall in love with every single character.
Another great book KE i cant wait for more.
My Overall Rating is 4 💋💋💋💋 My Character Rating is 5 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ My Smut Rating is 1 🍆 My Angst Rating is 2 😬😬
I am addicted to this series and Captivate had me hooked right from the start. Ms. Osborn does an amazing job of grabbing my attention right from the start and keeping it until the last word. She gave us an emotional and heartbreaking story that will have you going from heartbreak and sadness to hope and love. Raid and Frankie belong to the Defiance MC. Raid is their tech, security man. He used to work for the government when he was younger but his girl, Sophie, broke his heart and his life spiralled out of control. Joining the MC was the best thing in his life. He fights his feelings for Frankis, a club girl, but really she is so much more. Suddenly Raid's life is turned upside down with the arrival of Sophie and the teen daughter, Addie, whom he never knew. Unfortunately, the arrival is not one of happiness but of heartbreak. Lives are changed, danger rears its ugly head and love does bloom, however, the road is not one that is smooth and easy. Frankie is a strong woman that will have you wanting to be her friend. Raid will have you swooning over him as he deals with what life has dealt him. Addie seems to be the daughter that any parent would want. Level-headed, speaks her mind and is easy to love.
I cannot wait for the next installment in the NOLA Defiance MC series.
I fell into Defiance MC when I ran across Incinerate. I figured let’s continue with Captivate (I know I need to catch up). I must say, I freaking loved it! Frankie was my favorite character when I read the other book, so seeing a book all about her was definitely a plus. Frankie isn’t your normal club girl who looks to latch on to anyone for the title. She’s independent, sassy, and so damn caring! When Sophie showed up, I didn’t think Frankie would take it as well as she did. It really showed her caring loving side. I don’t think I could even react like she did. Raid, man, the words I got for him. He really bugged me sometimes. I wouldn’t to reach through my Kindle and smack some sense into him. He’s such a lovable nerd and so damn sweet, but he could be so dense sometimes. He, of course, woke up. Addi was written to perfection. She was exactly everything I could picture a 14 year old would be. She was mad at the situation so she was rude as hell, loving at times and very smart. I loved the bond Frankie and Addi were able to make. Sophie was another sweet hearted person. I knew her death was coming, but I might have cried a little. All in all, this is a fantastic read! So far, from the two books I’ve read, I will be adding these books to my favorite handbook collection!
Raid and Frankie’s story is a slow burn. The situation and circumstances they find themselves in makes acting on the feelings near impossible. Things are extremely complicated. Personal issues make the timing bad and club politics makes them being together difficult. I didn’t quite understand why Frankie being the head club girl was a problem for her and Raid being together though. Their story is emotional and bittersweet. I was invested in all the main characters and the outcome. Addi had it rough on all fronts. Her mom being sick. Discovering she has a father. And moving to a new location and not knowing a single person. But she’s strong and resilient like Raid. The way he took to being a father was incredible. The shock of finding out about Abbi and being cheated out of fourteen years. He didn’t recoil or refute. He stepped up and did the best he could. And everyday he did better and better. And everyday he would reassure her of his commitment to always being there for her. Frankie was an absolute doll with Abbi. Helping take care of her. Seeing to her needs. And building a bond with her. While trying to bridge the gap with Abbi and Raid. I have to say I really did not like Sophie. I felt horrible and sad for her plight. And I wished her well. But what she need was abhorrent and unforgivable. And if it wasn’t for her sickness she basically implied she never would have told Raid about Addi. Just shameful. The book is fast paced and a good read.
I know I may have said this about the last book in this series but they keep getting better in my book. I think Raid and Frankie's story is one of my favorite ones! We were left wondering what would happen at the end on bk 4 when Raid's first love and the woman who broke him showed up at the club house with a child that he didn't know was his. Put that on top of his within reach/out of reach back and forth with Frankie that was heading for more of start for them in an actual relationship, you get a cluster F*ck of a situation.
Sophie and Addilyn needed to be there because Addi needed her father in her life because it was about to change for the worse from what she knew. This really tugged at the heartstrings because it was a sad way for family to come together but is needed for some to continue on.
So even with this little family reunion of sorts there was a bit a drama that you expect with KE Osborn's MC stories, and I was on the edge of my chair waiting for it to happen and boy did it detonate big when things started going awry. In the end we do get out bittersweet HEA but a lot of heartache to get there. So this one again is definitely in my top MC reads for this year so far.
I seriously LOVE me some KE Osborn, and I've read a ton of her books so I don't make this statement lightly, Captivate just hit differently. See, Raid had his heart broken many years ago, and honestly, he's never been the same. These days he's sniffing around head club girl, Frankie, and while the sparks are flying, it's of slow burn variety. Unfortunately, his past comes back to bite him in the a**, and that woman who broke his heart, Sophie, has come back to get his help, but it's worse than just that, as it turns out he has a teenage daughter that he never knew about. You already know it threw his world into chaos, and poor Frankie, she's caught in the middle. I loved Frankie as she was selfless in the true sense of the word, but on the flip side, there was a time or two that I wished she dialed it back a bit for her own sake. I truly despised Sophie for her actions, and while karma definitely had her in its grips, it didn't change the fact that Raid & his daughter missed out on all of that time. I'm telling you, this story seriously did a number on my heart, but of course, there was some suspense with twists to get my done in heart racing, so yeah, of course I LOVED this story, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Captivate is book five of the NOLA Defiance MC Series. The book should be read in series order to fully understand the characters and plot, and because these books start where the previous left off. This is a secret child, MC romance focusing on Raid and Frankie.
Raid is loyal, intelligent, supportive, and can be hard on himself. He's let his past prevent him from settling down. And now he's making more excuses to hold back. He occailsionally let his stubborn alpha side rear it's head.
Frankie is extremely caring and selfless. So much so that it can be unhealthy at times when she puts others needs ahead of her own. But she is strong and independent and never let's anyone disrespect her no matter who they are.
The plot was unpredictable with some action, twists, angst, violence and even some funny moments. It was low on the spice but high on the emotional side. This book really hit different for me then the other books. The sorrowfulness twisted me up. It was also frustrating that Raid and Frankie wouldn't cease the moment. But ultimately they had their happily ever after.
The Defiance MC NOLA continues to entertain. We knew there was romance brewing between Raid and Frankie, but we didn't know it would hit the bump in the road it did. Frankie is one of the most empathetic characters I have ever read, and it was wonderful to see her get her HEA. And it is always wonderful to catch up with this MC club with the Bayou vibe.
Raid has previously been involved with Sophie, but she left him abruptly (which I ultimately decided was one of the most selfish moves I've ever read) and left him devastated for years. But ultimately, that devastation led him to the Defiance MC and Frankie, so it ended up being a bit of a win. However, she never let him know he was a dad in her move. Now she's dying and showing up with Addilyn, which rocks many worlds.
This is the most emotional book in the series so far, and it left me teary-eyed. The way that Raid and Frankie tried to navigate this newness, Addilyn, and handle Sophie with compassion and care was written so sweetly. Seriously, you cannot underestimate the greatness that is Frankie. It all combined to make a sweet, suspenseful, and exciting story.
Defiance MC continues to be a fun, entertaining series.
