This neighborhood by neighborhood guide to the big city was a very useful planning aid for our trip to the capital city of England and the United Kingdom. It comes with a fold out map, but more important are the short descriptions of what to see, do, and eat in each section of town, all of which are brightly and colorfully illustrated and designed.

Since the photos were shot on bright days, it didn’t quite capture the lovely overcast and cool grey and occasionally rainy days of our November trip, but don’t take that as a negative criticism of the guide. We were there at a solemn Remembrance Day two minutes of quiet in a huge crowd among a field of paper poppies and wooden crosses on the grounds of Westminster on Sunday, November 13, 2022. The weather was appropriately somber.

I really enjoy the Lonely Planet Experience series. Short and to the point while hitting on the high notes. Great for people that will only be in a country or area for a short time.

Not your usual London guidebook, great alternate things to do which are not found in other books. It’s recommended if you’ve been to London before and want to find things off the beaten path.

This was a little overpriced, but still worth picking up. The book offers suggestions for a number of interesting things to do in and around London. I would not call this a "forgotten London" book or a guide that features obscure information and things only locals would know about. Much of the information here is available in other guidebooks and travel websites, but there are still a bunch of good options collected here. It is well illustrated with lots of photos, and makes for quick reading.

Please Reupload

Lonely Planet books are universally quite good, but it seems that the digital version of this one is corrupted. The graphic overlays and photographs are intact, but almost all text is missing. Please use caution when purchasing until this is fixed.
