Memorable Quotes: “How about it, Asia? Would you accompany me to my aunt’s sixty-fifth birthday bash?” “I—uh...” Asia blanked. “The only answer I want to hear is yes,” he said softly. “Yes,” Asia answered without thinking, because she wanted to go with him. Wanted to understand the heat she felt around this enigmatic man she’d just met but somehow was agreeing to go on a date with. He smiled and it lit up his handsome features, weakening her knees. “Good. If it’s all right with you, I’ll pick you up here around six thirty. Can I get your number in case anything comes up?” He handed Asia his phone and she typed in her digits on autopilot. “Thanks.” He accepted the phone back. “I look forward to seeing you later.” Then picked up his gift and left the store. She turned toward Yvette. “What the hell just happened?” “Looks like you got yourself a hot date,” her boss cheekily replied. Did Blake pick up women in jewelry stores on a regular basis? Or was she special? Either way, Asia knew tonight would be a night to remember.
My rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟👩🏾🤝👩🏿👭🏿👩🏿🤝👩🏾💕💎🤰🏾💍🏗
My thoughts: 📓 I was hoping/expecting a pregnancy from one of these reluctant-to-commit couples so when the bomb was dropped at the end of the last book I was surprised and a bit disappointed but not surprised as I've read this trope before, so I'm prepared for missing the chemistry, it was probably a one night stand based on the title. It just better not become a secret baby trope, I hate those, and I don't care about the reasoning.
🔖Page 136 of 211 [Chapter] Fifteen - I'm not sure what's worse, hooking up at an elder's birthday party in their guestroom or the sexagenarian catching you doing the walk of shame in their house. My mama would never let this slide, and neither would I. Anyway, I was surprised by Asia's actions given her background, but it was only for a few chapters, and now one of my favorite tropes is slightly involved, and I can't wait to finish this gem. The reveal didn't line up with the end of the last book.
I love babies and marriage, so this story was great. I enjoyed it even more than the first book. The drama was minimal, but I did want to knock some sense into Blake and Asia, but I enjoyed the journey. The next book is going back to San Antonio, and I'm thrilled. I love these stories. The sex scenes are still cookie-cutter, but there were some new floorplans. I didn't read the excerpt of The Marriage Deadline, but the title caught my eye so I skimmed it and it's going on the TBR.
Recommend to others: Yes! These are awesome. This series has chocolate, caramel, and butterscotch descriptions, so if you don't like food for complexions, that's the only downside; it doesn't bother me.
