Running away is easy, until saying goodbye becomes too hard…
When successful songwriter Tabitha Callahan swaps a summer of sadness for pet sitting around the world, she intends to use the time to heal her broken heart.
Tabitha can’t believe her luck when she picks up a housesit on the rugged and beautiful Portuguese island of Madeira.
The villa is luxurious, the views breath-taking and her charges, a gorgeous but aloof cat and two cute and friendly Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, are perfect companions while she works on some new material and attempts to reconcile her past.
However, her peace is shattered when an unexpected house guest puts paid to her much-needed time alone, forcing her to confront not only her feelings but what she actually wants from life.
New friends and old dominate her time on the island, along with deep-rooted regret and unspoken sorrow.
Will a year of running away be enough to put the past to rest and allow someone new to inch into her heart?

Running away is easy, until saying goodbye becomes too hard…
With so many shocking stories recently about airline travel, it’s been nice to get away to the sun-drenched island of Madeira and not have to worry if my flight home has been cancelled!
The protagonist, Tabitha Callahan, is a songwriter who is escaping heartache for three weeks by house and pet-sitting two Cavalier King Charles spaniels and a cat. Little does she know that the cause of her heartache is now living not far from where she is house-sitting, nor that the couple she’s working for has a son - a hunky man who shows up unannounced!
You’ll love the tension created by Raff and Ollie and the angst Tabitha brings upon herself trying to figure out where she fits in. You’ll wonder whether the next-door neighbour can keep a secret and you’ll be drooling over references to pasteis de maracuja. For those of you who are dog lovers, Bailey and Fudge will keep you smiling.
I personally was excited to be reminded of great vacations on this Portuguese island. I, too, have sat in Taylor’s Port House in the library and tasted thirty-year-old port! Regardless, Frost was able to make Madeira come alive for her readers and she certainly made me yearn to return.
This is my third Kate Frost book and I was impressed with (1) her exploration into whether it’s ever too late to make peace with your past and (2) the emotional push/pull she worked into her plot. Oh, Rafferty. I hope we hear about you again soon.
I was gifted this copy by Boldwood Books and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.
The first half didn't do it for me. It was too drawn out. If there has been more substance and more interest in the characters I might have used my time to read it but I just couldn't. I had no emotional connection to the story or the characters. I do want to see if the locations are real and learn more about those.
Wowser what a read! I love books by Kate Frost and jumped at the chance to read this one when it popped up.
Tabitha is a character I could instantly connect to with her love of animals and music she reminded me of my teenage daughter. I loved the inspiration behind this story and from the first chapter was keen to keep reading.
When Raff unexpectedly enters Tabitha's world you aren't sure which direction the story will take. Brimming with real life scenarios, compassionate people and beautiful furry companions I was totally invested in seeing if Tabitha could use the time to put her demons to rest.
If you haven't already, grab yourself a copy as between the sunny skies and wonderful storyline, you'll just want to keep reading.
MY REVIEW: It’s that time of year, when we could all do with a bit of sunshine. Kate Frost’s new book, An Island In The Sun certainly delivers an abundance of the bright stuff.
Tabitha is a pet sitter. Her latest job takes her to Madeira, which seems like a great place to escape her painful past. While pet sitting, the owners estranged son arrives unexpectedly with his own baggage in tow. There is an attraction between the two, but they both need to deal with their demons before they can move forward.
This book felt like a holiday. The sun shines brightly, and Kate Frost does a fantastic job of setting the scene with some stunning descriptions.
Tabitha and Raff are both likeable and it was interesting to learn about their difficult pasts. I felt particularly sorry for Tabitha. She really has had a rough time.
An Island In The Sun, is a well written, fun read. There is a heartwarming and sweet romance, adorable pets, fractured friendships and lots of sunshine.
Grab your factor 50 and bask in this gorgeous book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
With thanks to Netgalley, Boldwood Books and Rachel’s Random Resources for a digital arc of this title.
Trigger Warnings This book contains: • Discussion of miscarriage and the lasting emotional impacts • References to drug use and addiction • Depiction of and discussion around absentee parents, being a mother and having a career and the impacts this has on individuals’ mental health and their relationships with others • Lost pet. Characters Tabitha is a songwriter who also pet sits around the world constantly travelling from place to place to take on pet sits. Since leaving a difficult relationship after suffering a miscarriage, she’s moved from place to place hoping to heal. Raff is the son of a wealthy couple and up until recently, lived in London. Thanks to a difficult relationship with his parents, he comes to Madeira while his parents are meant to be travelling hoping to get a couple of weeks respite before needing to figure out his next move in life. Storyline Tabitha arrives in Madeira to begin her latest pet sit for a wealthy couple heading off on holidays for a couple of weeks. On her first night after they’ve left, she’s woken up to the sound of someone in the house. Unsure of what she might find the last thing she expects is Raff claiming to be the son of the homeowners. The son they never so much as mentioned once in the time Tabitha spent with them. Tabitha has only a couple of weeks to sort out what to do with Raff, what to tell the homeowners, and whether she’s going to try and reconnect with an old friend while she’s on the island. Overall Thoughts While I didn’t enjoy every moment of this books, I believe that was done purposely as you’re not meant to like Raff all that much when he first arrives. He’s impulsive, drinks and appears to be a bad influence on others to the detriment of everyone around him and them. Those moments that I didn’t like were the exact moments that were created to portray him in that manner and it’s expertly executed. Once you piece together all the little pieces however, there’s moments of profound sadness, happiness, hurt and longing. All emotions that I’m sure all of us can relate to. The way each and every character is relatable either to ourselves or someone we know is amazing and a skill not many writers have.
Escaping to Madeira seems very tempting and I thoroughly enjoyed this uplifting story of coming to terms with the past and finding love.
Tabitha is a likeable character who loves her family but feels the need to travel light as she tries to come to terms with the ending of her relationship. Travelling has been part of her childhood and as yet, she has not found a place she wants to settle. In many ways, people are her home rather than a place. She has enjoyed cutting herself off from people and enjoys the companionship of the pets she is charged with looking after.
Raff is complicated character whose childhood experiences have meant that he is distant from his family. In many ways, he is similar to Tabitha as he too is getting over a broken relationship and using travel to avoid some truths. Raff’s family and neighbours are an interesting bunch and need to face up to issues from the past. This is an uplifting story. Tabitha and Raff both need to stop running from their past and face up to their feelings.
In short: sun, freedom, romance Thanks to the author for a copy of the book
Tabitha travels the world pet sitting; when she takes a job in Madeira, she doesn't realise the past she'll have to face and just how much her life may change.
This was an ok book; I didn't enjoy it as much as I've enjoyed other books by Frost. There's a lot of very wordy parts that feel like details are being shoe horned in. The characters don't feel as real or as well developed as her other works either.
Feel good book, you get really attached to the characters and go on their journey with them. I picked it due to having recently gone to Madeira but the island in itself wasn't described a huge amount. Just a easy to read and fun book, gotta love a romcom
The story starts out with Tabitha having to say goodbye to the animals she takes care of when she house sits. She had house sat twenty homes in eleven different countries in almost a year and she completely lost count of how many animals she took care in that length of time. My guess is she took care of a lot. She admitted to regretting leaving some countries but never enough to stay and make a permanent home for herself. She stood at an airport in Lisbon looking looking at the flight information board. The airport was full of families and other couples. The last place she house sat for had a tortoiseshell cat named Lola and she had already said goodbye to her the day before.
She finally told Cordelia that she had let raff stay in their garden house. She didn’t seem too pleased about it as she said I see. And that they would talk more when they got home. They were in Lisbon waiting for their flight. She finally told raff before he was leaving his parents house that she has feelings for him and it kinda seemed like he was scared. He took off before his parents got back home and she had to face them alone. Rafts mother Cordelia was very upset.
Julie had put things into perspective for Cordelia things she didnt even know about her son. She invited Tabitha back to the house because didn’t want to leave things the way they were at the moment. The next morning Cordelia, Tabitha and Rufus were sitting on the terrace eating breakfast and having a heart to heart. Raff came back he decided to make peace with his parents. He also apologized to Tabitha for letting her deal with his parents on her own. Tabitha made it back to her home back in Bristol.
I absolutely loved this book. It was so cute the ending was exactly what I was hoping for. The story was was perfectly written and the characters were amazing. I loved how I was able to connect to Raff and Tabitha. They had such amazing chemistry. Kate Frost wrote an amazing book. I will definitely buy a copy and recommend this book. 5/5 stars
An Island in the Sun is a delightful and uplifting story about finding love and coming to terms with the past. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Madeira, the book beautifully captures the essence of escape and healing.
Tabitha, the main character, is easy to root for. While she deeply loves her family, she feels the need to travel light, especially as she processes the end of her relationship. Travel has always been part of her life, but she’s yet to find a place to settle. For Tabitha, people are her home more than any particular location, and her solace comes from the companionship of the pets she looks after, making her a character many readers can connect with.
Raff, on the other hand, is a more complicated figure. His distant relationship with his family, combined with his struggles from a past relationship, has made him use travel as a way to avoid facing uncomfortable truths. Like Tabitha, he is running from the past, and their journeys—both physical and emotional—mirror one another. The dynamics of Raff’s relationships with his family and neighbors add richness to the plot, highlighting the importance of confronting unresolved issues.
This story is all about healing and growth. Both Tabitha and Raff need to stop running from their emotions and come to terms with their pasts. Their personal growth and eventual romance are satisfying to witness, as they learn to embrace the future and open their hearts to new possibilities.
In short, An Island in the Sun offers a perfect mix of sun, freedom, and romance—a refreshing read for anyone looking for a feel-good, emotionally rewarding escape.
How lovely to be able to revisit Madeira, an island i went on holiday to a few years ago. Although my time there was significantly less eventful than Tabitha's, I didn't meet any good looking men and there were far too many steep hills where I was staying then I was happy with!
However I'd have happily stayed where Tabitha was, it sounded absolutely stunning and the two dogs and the cat she was pet sitting for a few weeks, were adorable.
Yet the story revolves far more around Raff, his rift with his parents, the difficult position it puts Tabitha in, and of course the clear attraction between them.
With a rather memorable first meeting and both of them with things they are running from in the past, this has some really interesting storylines threaded throughout the story.
I loved seeing how they developed and discovering their full back stories.
One of my first thoughts within the first couple of chapters was that I wondered if I could I be like Tabitha and become a pet sitter and travelling all over the world to pet sit while owners are on holiday, as I can like her, work from anywhere. In fact I just really wanted to be Tabitha for pretty much the whole book, was quite envious of her life style which I wanted!
It's a gorgeous escapist romance that I enjoyed a lot.
Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
An Island In The Sun by Kate Frost is a charming contemporary novel that will add warmth and brightness to the gloomy grey days of winter as we escape to sun and heat. The Mediterranean climate comes alive under Kate Frost’s pen as we can almost ‘see’ the heat shimmer. Her descriptions tempt the senses as we travel through the novel. Pet sitting enables a character to escape not only the climate of Britain but to run from painful circumstances too. Adoring the two King Charles Spaniels and a cat enables the healing process to begin. The antidote to a broken heart is forgiveness. In order to fully heal and move forward, forgiveness must be given. Without it, we will remain trapped in the past in a prison of bitterness. We witness fractured relationships – a son has a difficult relationship with his parents but a great one with his former babysitter. He has had all the privileges that money can buy – but love has eluded him. Never judge by appearances. Things are rarely as they seem on the surface. Care and understanding as well as open conversations are needed. I thoroughly enjoyed An Island In The Sun. It was the perfect escape from a grey day in winter as the sun shone from the pages and into my heart. I received a free copy via Rachel’s Random Resources for a blog tour. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.
I haven’t read this author before and it isn’t a genre I would normally choose but this was a good bit of escapism taking me from our cold and grey winter to a warm and sunny climate in Madeira. It’s a place I’ve visited and it’s a beautiful island and one I’ll probably visit again. The main character is Tabitha (Tabs) Callahan, a singer/guitarist/songwriter who after breaking up with her partner decided to travel by becoming a home and pet sitter - what a perfect job.
Briefly, Tabitha is house sitting in Madeira for three weeks however she has an unexpected shock when the estranged son of the house shows up, in the middle of the night. The fact that he is good looking and fit adds to the tension. In addition, her former best friend, Ollie, now lives in Madeira and she’s intent on mending bridges.
Tabitha is a bit of a damaged individual who has been running from her problems. You can’t help but feel sorry for her as you find out more but her deception about Raff staying at his parents house, without telling them, show a bit of a dishonest side to her. However, that aside, it’s a very enjoyable read. I felt as thought I was back in Madeira with the beautiful scenery and temperate climate. A book that examines broken hearts and broken relationships and how these fractures can be healed. A lovely romance, with dogs and a cat that, despite me reading it in the winter, would be a perfect holiday read.
I am genuinely shocked by the number of amazing reviews for this book and I genuinely can’t work out if I missed something whilst reading.
The setting of Madeira and the villas and walks described make for the perfect easy summer read, but that’s about it in terms of positives.
The characters felt so two dimensional and besides good looks being referenced, the main love interest could have been a cardboard cutout of Tom Hardy. The main female character was constantly made to appear physically perfect but her personality felt incredibly bland.
The constant references to trauma felt very forced and only appeared to affect characters when the plot required it. The author also couldn’t seem to decide whether the main character’s ex was controlling or not, but went around in circles bringing it up throughout without it meaning much.
The plot is essentially ‘girl pet sits and fancies man. Girl doesn’t know if she wants a relationship, man has no thoughts’ and the rest is filled in with constantly repeating background information which adds nothing to the plot.
The dialogue felt very robotic and like it was quoted from a therapy book, not like two young people getting to know one another.
Overall wouldn’t recommend, it didn’t even offer the cheesy joy of a good summer romance.
Tabitha is a songwriter who can work from anywhere, so she travels around the world pet-sitting in exotic locations to mend her broken heart and hopefully learn to live again. Her latest gig is a month at a stunning Madeira villa, where she can be at peace to write songs and walk dogs through the beautiful countryside. Enter Raff, the estranged son of the villa’s owners, who is Tabitha’s age and hot. Raff’s parents saw him only as a disappointment, and he figures he’ll enjoy the house while they’re gone. But is stunned to find Tabitha there. . . .
Raff isn’t the most endearing character at the beginning, but he grew on me after a while, once I started to see where he was coming from. Tabitha was very likeable, though she had her moments of overstepping and trying to dictate Raff’s choices. It was fun to see them growing together on a real up-and-down trajectory, both of them trying to figure themselves out and navigate a relationship. It felt real—happy at times, frustrating at other times, imperfect people and relationships. A nice, easy read.
Rating: 4 Steam: Low Themes and Tropes: Escapist, Close Proximity Pair With: Madeira Wine. I’ve only ever cooked with Madeira, so I’m curious to try some Madeira to drink.
We, as the creators of the original inspiration, are excited to share our review of " An Island in the sun ". This enchanting and compelling book perfectly captures the essence of our dream to leave everything for a year and travel around Europe house sitting for animals.
Kate Frost has expertly transformed our idea into a fresh, interested and lovely story. Through the pages, the reader is transported on an emotional and regenerating journey, during which the protagonist finds the courage to make peace with her past, forgive herself and reclaim her life. The beauty of the places described and the emotional depth of the story make this an absolutely unmissable read.
We are incredibly proud of the outcome of this book. The author has captured and amplified the magic of our original idea, creating a work that not only entertains but inspires and touches the heart. " An Island in the sun " is a fascinating tribute to the power of change, the ability to start over and the beauty of finding new purposes and loves in life.
We highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to immerse themselves in a story of rebirth, love and discovery, all enriched by the gentle company of animals and the splendor of Madeira.
Sometimes I just want some light, enjoyable escapism, and I've recently found this with novels by Kate Frost.
I've never been to the Azores, although I've always wanted to. Reading this story set on Madeira was like being transported there, and really makes me want to visit now. This was a light and easy read, which I appreciate, but it wasn't too elementary. The characters were likeable, and the situations they found themselves in were (mostly) realistic. The story ended in a satisfying way, so that always makes me happy.
When I first bought this book, the premise of the housesitter/petsitter caught my eye, and it reminded me of Trusted Housesitters, which I use for my pets when I travel. So I had to smile at the Author's Note, when she mentioned her own experience using Trusted Housesitters had inspired this novel. There are many people around the world who benefit from this site/service, on both ends of the agreement - and this novel makes me wish I'd found out about it when I was younger, so I could do what Tabitha has done :)
Overall, a good read - and I'll continue to seek out books by this author.
Tabitha is running away - she's been doing that for the past year, ever since the break-up with her boyfriend. As a freelance songwriter, she can work from anywhere. Her heartbreak leads her to travel the globe, pet-sitting at far flung locales while she composes music.
The Portuguese island of Madeira is simply the latest of her globe-hopping locales. What Tabatha isn't counting on is a romantic entanglement, yet that's exactly what she gets when Raff, the homeowners' handsome, estranged son, unexpectedly enters her life.
Inflicted with a serious case of Wanderlust myself, I love being transported to new desitinations in my books - and Madeira has long been on my travel list. Unfortunately, we didn't get much beyond the lush garden and pool of the house where Tabitha is pet-sitting, which I found a bit disappointing. Nevertheless, the love story was enjoyable and this is a quick read that can bring a dash of sunshine to a cold winter's day.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy - all thoughts are my own
When Tabitha's best friend and song writing partner takes full credit for one of their songs, Tabitha lets go of the partnership, friendship, and touring with the band. She decides to be a traveling pet sitter and accepts a job on Madeira taking care of two dogs and a cat.
Her second night on Madeira she hear a noise and wakes up to find the couple's son, Raff in the house. Since she didn't know they had a son and there were no pictures of him, he had to do some fast talking to get her to let him stay. But just one night.
Following Tabitha as she and Raff get to know each other, as she spends time getting to know the couple next door and the island of Madeira, and reconnecting with the friend who betrayed her takes the reader through a host of emotions. The descriptions of Madeira will make you want to sign up as a traveling pet sitter.
I thoroughly enjoyed An Island in the Sun and will be reading others by Kate Frost.
I feel like I had a love-hate relationship with this book. 2.5 stars.
When I started reading the book, I got right into it and wanted to just keep reading. The idea of a 32 year old woman, making her living writing songs for famous performers while traveling the world pet-sitting in exotic locales was fascinating to me. I would have loved living a life like that!
But then I became disillusioned with Tabitha when she allowed Raff to stay in his parents home, that she had a custodial responsibility for, without so much as checking his identification, much less asking permission. If someone was sitting for me and did this I’d be livid! I understand her reasoning but it still rubbed me wrong.
I did continue to the end, but I won’t write spoilers so I can’t say how it all worked out. It was a great concept but just missed the mark for me.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.
One of the best things about reading is that I can visit faraway places and experience different cultures while enjoying the beautiful scenery. The exotic island of Madeira where “An Island in the Sun” takes place is known for its warm climate, pebbly beaches and rocky high cliffs. The capital of Madeira, Funchal, where Raff and Tabitha attended a party, has lavish botanic gardens and a breathtaking harbor.
I envied Tabitha with her adventurous spirit and her love for animals as she traveled the world pet sitting, which allowed her to also concentrate on her songwriting and musical career. The villa she was staying at was spacious, relaxing and private until a late night visitor arrived who would end up stealing her heart. Raff was sexy, very nice to look at and also loved to travel. He was a budding author with a kind heart and a hopeful outlook on life. I enjoyed sightseeing with Raff and Tabitha, laughing with them as they cared for the dogs and relaxing with them by the pool. At first, it appeared they were two ships passing in the night but in reality, fate had thrown them together so they could help each other forget their pasts and learn to love again while looking ahead to the future, one great adventure at a time.
Kate Frost has an incredible talent for taking you on wonderful trips around the world, immersing you in the setting and culture until you believe that you're actually there. Her descriptive narrative reveals hidden corners of the world, places off the tourist track with mouthwatering food and delicate, aromatic wines. Each book whisks you into the lives of memorable characters and situations, and for a little while you can leave everything else behind.
I have to say that this is my favourite book by Kate so far. Tabitha and Raff are great characters, holding on to hurt and secrets from the past, which they are both trying to run from. The other secondary characters add depth to the story, as do the gorgeous dogs.
Kate's books are perfect for escaping life for a few hours and soaking up the heat, atmosphere and sights of faraway places. Highly recommend.
I stayed up late & woke up early so I could finish this book before work today. The only thing that would have made this book better is if my toes were in the sand while I read! Perfect beach read! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This story revolves around Tabitha, a talented song-writer/pet sitter! Her story unfolds while sitting 2 dogs & a cat on the beautiful island of Madeira. It’s a story about love & loss, whether to move on or hold on to the past. I absolutely fell in love with Raff, a surprise house guest, and was drawn in to their relationship between him & Tabitha. 5/5 stars! Definitely recommend if you’re in to women’s lit/romance books! I double recommend if you’re looking for a beach read!
This book releases on February 6th! Mark your calendars to grab your copy! Shout out to @netgalley & @katefrostauthor for letting me get this book early to read & review!
Atmospheric and vibrant descriptions draw the reader into this emotional travel romance. The author's lyrical writing and good use of sensory imagery bring everything from the airport to the picturesque island to vivid life; it's a lovely escapist read.
It's not just a pretty setting; this story tugs at the emotions as we get to know Tabitha and Raff and their complex and sometimes heartbreaking pasts. I found Raff's attitude to Tabitha as a house and pet sitter occasionally annoying. Still, despite this, I empathised with him and his family circumstances and wanted Tabitha and him to have a romantic future together.
The animals, particularly the dogs, are lovely characters and the chemistry and emotional involvement between Tabitha and Raff are well-written. It's an engaging story with emotional depth.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
What a gorgeous location and beautiful read Just what this chilly day I really did need! A story of family and friendship that are broken With the past needing facing and feelings re-woken.
Tabitha is a escaping from sadness and loss Taking time to heal whilst still being her own boss. She's a songwriter who travels as house and dog sitter The changes of location and folk really suit her.
On Madeira she's looking after two dogs and a cat In a beautiful, luxurious home, with its own pool and all that! She has time to work but also maybe the chance at last To help heal a relationship broken in the past.
New friends, unexpected arrivals and reconnecting, too, A story with so much going on all the way through. With drama, healing and even a chance For a renewed or even a new romance!
She's not the only one at a crossroad in her life As others are facing their own potential strife. I thoroughly enjoyed this right from the start A beautiful setting and story to warm your heart.
Entertaining read about Tabitha Callahan who is a successful songwriter who does pet sitting jobs all over the world. She spends her time working remotely while enjoying the benefits of travel. This book is about her pet sitting job on the Portuguese island of Madeira in a gorgeous home with beautiful views. She is escaping a bad experience from being a songwriter and touring with a band. When an unexpected visitor shows up at the house in the middle of the night, she has to decide her future and try to put her past behind her. She has to confront her past hurt feelings and move forward with difficult decisions. It's up to her to figure out what she really wants from life and choose to be able to love again. Thoroughly enjoyed this book with surprises, new friends and old and exciting choices for Tabitha.
Kate Frost always delivers an intriguing travel romance. I’ve read all her books, & grabbed the chance to read an early copy of this book. The island setting, so exquisitely described, and the interesting storyline kept me engaged throughout. It’s quite an escapist life pet-sitting around the world. Tabitha composed music in other people’s homes. These owners have secrets & one of them turns up in person to distract & disorientate Tabitha. And then she discovers her ex is on the island too. It’s never too late to make peace with your past. Hearts can be healed and forgiveness is key. I highly recommend Island in the Sun. I received an Advanced Reader Copy from Boldwood Books and Net Gallery in return for an honest voluntary review.
Another stunning book from Kate Frost, this time set on the island of Ibiza. The author has the incredible talent of transporting you to other countries just by her evocative descriptions and rich narrative.
An Island Promise follows a decade of friendship between Belle, Laurie, and Gem, starting with a holiday in Ibiza at age 21, that has an effect on all their lives afterwards.
Kate has a gentle way of writing that soothes the soul, but she's also not afraid to tackle more sensitive subjects. By the end of the book you feel as though you've shared a lifetime of experiences, and a part of you remains in the world the author has created. A beautifully written romance that I highly recommend.
Tabitha is a song writer and performer running away from a failed romance. She finds jobs as a pet sitter in many countries. Youngest of five children she does stay in touch with her family. She is hired on an Island and gets involved with the estranged son of the people she is sitting for. Great interaction with the two dogs and cat, also the "nosy"neighbor.
Her exfriend is now a super start due in part to a song she wrote.
Lots of wonderful scenery and ocean views with descriptions of the local, food and wine.
The story bogs down with repetition in the middle but picks up and is a fun read.
