This book had helpful information, but I wanted to DNF it. As someone who has struggled with anxiety and seen a professional counselor about it, I feel like I already knew most of the information in this book. Rather than being helpful, it was unnecessarily triggering since the author described various forms of anxiety in vivid detail. This might be rather more helpful to someone who doesn't struggle with anxiety. The descriptions that are intrinsically known to anxiety sufferers could help others understand and it does offer practical information.

I was extremely blessed by this book. It has two parts: what is anxiety, and how to climb out of it. The what part gives a clear description of what anxiety looks like. As one in healing, I found great comfort knowing that this is normal. I am not alone. The second part looks at different areas of anxiety and seeks to give ways to heal from it. Though not all chapters will apply directly to each person, the chapters are all well written and give many personal accounts that give clear description. Each chapter ends with an activity to been done on your own time. Usually it involves prayer, thought, and writing some things down. This is the real meat of the book and if done will give you a great starting point for healing. I can't recommend this book strong enough because of how it integrates knowledge (what is anxiety, what causes it) with action (activities, good questions, making a plan, etc)

Airport purchase. I didn't notice the back cover note about using biblical wisdom (I don't tend to read self-home books with a spiritual bent) but it wasn't over the top. It shifted parts of my perspective on the ways that in my worries/fears/etc impact my quality of life and perhaps I will be able to integrate some of the recommended improvements to become more whole. All I wanted was some gum, this was a great addition to my travels.

I knew I needed help dealing with my anxiety. It had gotten out of hand and out of control. But I didn’t even know where to start. This book helped me immensely. From understanding what anxiety is, how it affects me, and giving me several tools to take back my life. There are many gems in this book. Its going to take some time to implement what I learned and change my way of thinking but I feel like this book was a great eye opener and made me feel hopeful about the possibility of living without anxiety.

I loved this book. It taught me so much about my anxious thoughts and fears. Also it allowed me to spot behaviors that I didn’t recognize as anxiety driven. I brought this book with me to therapy and discussed many of the topics. I recommend this to anyone dealing with anxiety, and even to people who haven’t been diagnosed.

If you struggle with anxiety, this book is for you. This book has opened my eyes so much and really has helped me dive into the roots of my anxiety and where it stems from. It has practical activities that I can incorporate into my life, and the fact that it is also from a Christian point of view is amazing. Really good read!

The anchoring activities were interesting. I haven’t did them yet but I plan to. This has helped me see that God will help me with my anxiety if I ask him to. It says to journal and I already kind of do that but I plan to journal daily.

If you skip over the religious stuff it's a decent book.

I found useful tools in this book but am not religious so was a quick read after skipping past the biblical stuff

Overcoming Anxiety, Worry, and Fear by Gregory L. Jantz is a practical guide aimed at helping readers understand and manage their anxiety. The book covers a range of techniques, from cognitive-behavioral strategies to mindfulness practices, offering a holistic approach to addressing these common mental health challenges.

The strength of this book lies in its accessibility. Jantz’s writing is clear and straightforward, making complex psychological concepts easy to understand. The exercises and tips provided are practical and can be easily incorporated into daily life.

However, I found that the book didn’t delve as deeply into the underlying causes of anxiety as I would have liked. It offers useful strategies for managing symptoms, but for those looking for a more in-depth exploration of anxiety and its roots, this book may feel somewhat surface-level. Still, it’s a solid starting point for anyone looking to take control of their anxiety and improve their mental well-being.

This book was very informative, but I was expecting it to be more like a workbook/self help type book. It was very good at laying out the different anxiety/worry/fear disorders/issues that people deal with and the medical side of it without bogging down with jargon.

Very good, but not quite my cup of tea.

Received a free copy from Goodreads for an honest review.....A wonderful book for a positive change with biblical wisdom. Helps with a more peaceful life with hope for the future. Your confidents will come back slowly, which is better then none and with all the negativity in the world this is a great reference book to keep in your home for your own mental health. I highly recommend this book.

This book may not be for everyone who struggles with anxiety, but for me it helped me to understand so much about myself and gave me realistic tools to work through my own anxieties. I love that the foundation of this book is in God's truth.

A little slow in the beginning. I got into it more when he got to the second half which was more practical advice.
