It’s sizzling summertime, and Edie can’t wait for the partying to start. Trying to forget about the dastardly Dylan, Edie’s taking her new squeeze Carter to the Glastonbury music festival to have some fun. But guess who’s there already, looking totally gorgeous? That’s right . . .

Oh Edie, what has happened to you? You're just not the same girl any more. I liked you more when I was younger.
This whole series is basically a re-read of my teenage years. I couldn't resist those gorgeous new covers.
This is still fluffy and fun, but Edie is all kinds of stalker-obsessive-psycho and it's scary. As this book is written as her diary it's a crazy-mad ride. And it was just too much for me. Edie is relentless in her pursuit of Dylan. Dylan is a Grade A dick. Dylan's new girlfriend Veronique is only slightly more bat-shit than Edie. And Veronique's brother Carter is as toxic as they come.
If you like toxic, poisonous relationships then look no further as this book has them in spades. I guess that's why I can't stop reading this series.
This is a guilty pleasure read for me. Sarra Manning will always be the Queen of Teen to me. When I was the same age as the protagonist I related much more to her. But now that I'm a lot older I just don't get it.
Aww man. I genuinely liked French Kiss, though I had a few issues with it, primarily stemming from the lack of character and relationship development and the heavy reliance on the undeniably electrifying chemistry. And while I still enjoyed reading Kiss and Make Up, we have definitely hit guilty pleasure territory now, because this was a hot damn mess.
As the title and blurb indicate, while things ended rather rosily for Edie and Dylan at the end of book 1, all is not well in this book. Soon after they get together, they hit a major speed bump. But that undeniable chemistry is still there. So their relationship is a huge mess and needs a shit ton of work, and thus we are left with a considerable dose of romantic mellodrama in this installment.
The thing is Edie started grating on my nerves a lot in this book. We certainly got to see more of her personality here, but it was mostly just naivete and indecisiveness. Those are two extremely frustrating character traits. She pines after Dylan here, especially when he appears to have moved on. She practically throws herself at him while he has a new girlfriend, trying to break them up. She just makes all the wrong choices. Then he has his hot-and-cold attitude going on again which frustrates me to no end, and she's extremely bad about just telling him no. Then Carter, who is obviously bad news, shows up and puts the moves on her and she just tries to convince herself that that's a good idea, in spite of all the advice of her friends.
I spent a lot of my reading time just shaking my head at this book and at Edie, sighing, because she seems so lost and, to a certain extent, pathetic. It still did read as realistic and sort of relatable though, because I think many of us have gone through that kind of desperate all-consuming crushing romance thing in high school. First loves are devastating like that. So I did still somewhat understand where Edie's behavior was coming from, but I just wished that she would get a clue (sooner than I did in my own experience). That did keep me turning the pages, ultimately, because I wanted to see that growth in her and see that it would get better. And the ending definitely delivered on that note.
I was also upset at the loss of Shona and Trent, who both made the first book so much more enjoyable. I did enjoy getting to know some of the new characters, like Poppy, and seeing Edie's experiences of being in a band. I mean, that's pretty cool. I was frustrated though at the lack of family presence in this book (her parents seriously go on vacation leaving her on her own for two months). I do, however, want to give massive praise to how the virginity issue is dealt with in this book. Sarra Manning really knows how to bring up teenage sex in books, and I ultimately loved how that was done.
Summing Up:
It's a bit of a mixed bag. This book was a hot mess, because Edie was a hot mess. But at the end you could definitely tell that both Edie and Dylan had grown, and their relationship would probably be stronger for it. I just am not really a fan of that romantic mellodrama part of most relationships, so it wasn't totally enjoyable to me. However, I did blaze through it - it was a quick, light read, and I have plenty of hope that I'll enjoy the series finale more.
GIF it to me straight!

Fans of realistic, relatable romance and hot chemistry.
Do you ever have a feeling that a crush on a boy affected all your teen years and even your adult life?
Diary of a crush it’s a brilliant brilliant triology made of three books “French Kiss” “Kiss and Make Up” and “Sealed with a Kiss”, if you are between 14 and 30 and female do not miss this one because it’s worth your sleepless time.
"Kiss and make up" it's my favourite but I love them all.
Sixteen years old Edie moves to Manchester from Brighton and starts College, on day one she starts crushing over Dylan and reporting everything in her diary.
“Boys that look like that always reckon they can get away with that kind of behaviour. He’s probably an arrogant dickweed but what the hell, he’s a drop-dead gorgeous, arrogant dickweed“
Dylan is not necessarily a likeable character, he is very cool, reserved and selfish, overall I would say he is really real (don’t worry you’ll love him regardless of his flaws).
Sarra Manning is a genius writer and believe me when I say that you won’t be able to put this book (and the others) down, the whole reading experience made me feel possessed and I can’t recommend it enough.
“I went out with Veronique to take my mind of you, and when I'm with you I don't feel like I'm on a rebound, I feel like I've come home. It's like my world is just different combinations of black and white, but when you're around everything goes Technicolor. You're still the coolest girl I know".”
As soon as I finished French Kiss, I immediately started the second instalment Kiss and Make Up. I needed to see what happened next in Edie's world because I just couldn't wait.
In Kiss and Make Up we see Edie who's now seventeen (she had her birthday near the end of French Kiss) and Dylan in their new relationship together, but no sooner than it started, it all goes incredibly wrong. So, Edie decides to go away for the summer and get over Dylan, however, she's still having trouble with boys when Carter comes along; Dylan's new girlfriends sister's brother. Complicated or what? But that's not the only problem Edie has, her and Dylan seem to have a connection that just won't go away, no matter how much they fight it, but can they get back what they once had or will it be lost forever?
I really enjoyed Kiss and Make Up and it was a really enjoyable sequel. What I noticed about it was how the author's style of writing changed as Edie matured. The story stopped being so teenage dramatic and became more older teenage dramatic (if that makes sense, lol) The story is an emotional roller-coaster, but that's also the beauty of it; it's rare and very hard, it's kind of story that you love to hate because it comes with so much emotional baggage. The character's have many faults but you love them, the story is cheesy in parts but it's also very addictive. So many pro's and con's about it but in all, I love it.
In my mind this story is split in two parts; seventeen-year-old Edie and then eighteen-year-old Edie. For me in the first part, Edie's unsure if she can trust Dylan and becomes a very needy girlfriend, she's moody, temperamental and very immature but, then there's the second part, where Edie's grown up, and becomes more mature and calmer. She's not without her problems, but you can see the change and I much preferred Edie once she turn eighteen.
Dylan and Edie's relationship takes so man different turns that you honestly don't know if it's going to work out for them. It's nail-biting and honestly, a bit of a train wreck, but no matter what I was constantly rooting for them all the way through.
Overall, Sarra Manning has created a sequel that is even better than the first. It's full of drama, angst and love. I can't wait to read the final book; Sealed with a Kiss.
Not really a 5-star book, but it gave me 5-star feelings.
There's the type of drama that is a complete pain in the ass. However, this kind of love hexagon as vacillating and twisted as it is? Oh gosh. So delicious. It's crazy. But it works. Sometimes it does get out of control, but overall, it's generally fun. I think there's a beauty in making realistic characters do unbelievably ridiculous things I love Edie. I really do. She's just such a real and down-to-earth character. And her sarcasm! It just never stops. She's a nutter, that's for sure, but terribly honest so you can't help but adore her.
...all I could do was bitch about how I was going to stink of bacon fat...Sometimes it frightens me how much I enjoy behaving like a complete cow.
It's this brutal honesty that makes it okay for the maniacal things that happen in this book to happen. Sure, it's a mess, but Edie acknowledges what a colossal fail she and her friends are at being a functional and social group of friends and couples.
”Dylan - I don’t even like her, let alone want to be with her, but sometimes I think we deserve each other. I try to break up with her and there are broken glasses and she threatens to hurt herself, me, her cat. It’s like being back with my mum, which is just so Freudian, I don’t even want to go there.”
This statement is so Dylan. Despite his lack of self-control, I, for some strange reason really like Dylan. He's hot and loveable and the chemistry he and Edie have? It's out of this world. You can feel the sexual tension floating off from the pages. What I love is that their relationship is so edgy with minimal physicality.
P.S. All the characters are so British! Being British is an automatic 10 bonus points and makes everyone seem more attractive and acceptable somehow.
It just got better. I love this more than the first one. I love how mature Edie got, how changed people she and Dylan turned out to be in the end. It's an easy, simple and quick read, but I have to admit the first half of the book, my heart kept aching, and it was really painful because I really can feel Edie's heart breaking, so much as I can relate. I hated Dylan a lot with what he did, I was also irritated by some wrong choices and how naive Edie is at times. IN this second book, I loved how improved everything got. It was not all about their relationship, Edie's studies and academic pursuits and work in order to earn money showed off some responsibility ring. I loved loved how it turned out in the end. What with all the new friendships, deeper friendships with others. I love the maturity this book showed off. can't wait for the next!
AHH The second book of the Diary of a Crush Trilogy. I must say, I LOVE THIS BOOK! Dylan and Edie are SOO cute! And that stupid b**** Veronique, I just wanted to kill her. But my point is, Sarra Manning, she's amazing. I love her, and she's one of my favorite authors, especially since her characters are so full of life, and her words come alive right there on the page. Now, I just can't wait to read the third one. (:
+I thought that the 2nd book was better than the 1st. +It was a fast read. +There were more malicious characters and I HATED them with a passion. +I love the way Sarra Manning writes
I chose this rating because it is one of the best book series I've ever read, when you read it it takes you in it like your right there with the characters, & Eidie is so relatable she feels like she could be your best friend. This book series is what inspired me to want to go to Manchester, England!
Very unlikeable characters and a frustrating "romance". The main character Edie is insecure, indecisive and whiny. She goes from toxic relationship to toxic relationship. She's young and trying to find her way, but her decisions will leave you in eye-rolling disbelief. There is a third book in this series. Hopefully the author is able to improve the story.
I loved this book. I have actually read all 3 books and honestly, this book had me laughing out loud. You just felt them emotional teenage angst in this book, how everything just felt like the end of the world. Stupid Art Boy.
This book was kind off boring like it’s really long and I don’t really like the story of this one. The beginning is soo fucking long I can’t. Thank god the middle and the end of the book is good because other than that it’s not that good.
At the beginning of the book Edie has pretty much everything she wanted in the first book. She and Dylan are now an official couple and she should be the happiest girl in the world but it isn’t quite like that. Dylan doesn’t open up to her like she wants him to and they spend most of the time kissing and nothing else. Their relationship is far from perfect and Edie wants more… but Dylan isn’t prepared to give her that. When the two characters disagree on what should happen, they end up breaking up. The couple share friends and that makes things incredibly awkward for all concerned.
I absolutely loved Edie in the first book and I still loved her in this instalment. Since the beginning of the series she has grown up a lot and become more mature in quite a lot of aspects of her life. She knows what she wants and fights for it which was nice to see. Throughout her diary entries, her quirky personality shines through and she made me laugh quite a lot. What I like about this character the most though is that she knows she makes mistakes and for the most part, she tries to fix that. Character development in this book is extremely strong for not just Edie, but other characters too which was really nice to see.
Even though Edie and Dylan break up quite early on in the book, the chemistry between the two characters is there throughout. These two have been through quite a lot and neither can stop thinking about the other, even if there are new girlfriends and boyfriends along the way. While both Edie and Dylan try to figure out their feelings for each other and why they can’t seem to stay apart even when broken up, there are new (and pretty evil) characters that are introduced. Edie gets a new love interest called Carter who was nearly as mysterious as Dylan, and Dylan gets Veronique who is Carter’s sister. There are plenty of twists in regards to relationships and I really enjoyed this aspect of the book.
Sarra Manning manages to put a great romance story together with a really fun plot. The majority of this book is spent over the course of the summer so there is none of the going to college etc that there was in the previous book. I really liked the summer setting because it allowed Edie to have a lot more fun, make new friends in a new job and for the whole gang to head out on some adventures. It was really great to see such loved characters in different settings because this created a whole new range of problems for them to tackle which wouldn’t have been possible if this book had been mainly set in college again.
Edie and Dylan continue to be a favourite couple of mine in young adult books. Sarra Manning puts in equal amounts of teen angst, relationship problems and a fantastic chemistry between the main characters. Things have been far from plain sailing for Edie and Dylan so far and I can’t wait to see what is in store next for them both.
This is the second book of the story of Edie and Dylan. It picks up with the end of the first book. Edie and Dylan just got together, they like each other a lot but they also don't know much how to stay good in the relationship, they end up hurting each other and split soon. It has a lot to do with their immaturity and a bad timing with the school break. When Edie returns, Dylan is with another girl. Most of the book they are apart, yet they can't get really apart, we see they like each other very much indeed. Dylan's new girl is a bitch and Edie also gets involved with her brother, who also isn't nice. I like suffering of two lovers but I think this book had it a little too much. Because we don't understand how they cannot be together. Dylan's relationship is used as the reason, but in the end, when we get to know about his girlfriend, we don't get how he could put up with her. He didn't even need to get back together with Edie, we see the reasons why they're afraid to be together (I mean, are they going to not hurt each other again? etc) but Veronique is such a bitch! We see them (Edie and Dylan) getting together behind Veronique's back, then Dylan retreats, then they get back together (for, you know, they can't stay apart), then Edie retreats because of Veronique, which Dylan also supports. And we get thinking, he's having a great relationship with Veronique, she's so nice, he doesn't want to hurt her feelings, but at the end we discover (spoilers!) that he doesn't want her to throw a fit? because she's bad like that? If you are so attracted to other person that you kiss her many times despite you are with someone, you should breaks with her. It was also aggravating that Edie allowed it quite some times. I think I could relate with it happening 1 or 2 times but so many? I want her to be stronger, cheating is not nice and it says a lot about her self-steem. Other thing I didn't like was Carter, Veronique's brother. He's obnoxious with Edie, yet she can't cut him loose, she almost loose her virginity with him despite it is so clear she's not into him. And he does a lot of other awful stuff and she's ok with it. Nevertheless, the book has a great pace, just like the first one, and is addicted. We still relate with Edie and Dylan and just want them to be together soon.
After her trip to Paris things have turned out great between Edie and Dylan and now they are officially going on a date. However their love story is far from having a happy ending. Just months after they started dating Dylan and Edie broke up. And now that summer has begun she can't wait to party with her friends except that when she turn another corner she sees Dylan with his new girlfriend Veronique. Will this be the end of Dylan and Edie?
Before anything else I would just like to say how much I love this series. The characters in the book are relatable they are like the ordinary people you meet in the streets. Dylan is yes good looking but he has flaws he is moody and sometimes he closes himself to other people even to Edie. And Edie well she is your funny beautiful girl with a great sense of style but is also moody.
This second book really got to me. I mean Veronique was every bit the evil incarnate. Gosh! that girl has issues that is beyond the normal issues that a teenager has. And Carter her brother? Oh don't get me start with him. He is also beyond evil. It would seem like these two are really cut out from the same genetic tree. Both are super evil. While Veronique is the violent girl who torments Dylan not just emotionally but also physically, Carter is the ultimate playboy that not even a young girl within the 5 mile radius is safe. I just can't believe with what he did with Grace.
I had a lot of fun reading this second book. I was filled with different sorts of emotion. When Dylan and Edie broke I was devastated. And then when Shona and Edie stopped hanging out together I was even more devastated. It is really sad to see people grow apart from each other. I mean I totally agreed with Edie that she needs to get away from Dylan in order to move on but she does not have to grow apart from Shona. It saddens me that their friendship is no longer the same.
The letters that Dylan and Edie exchanged were both funny and sweet. I can't wait to read the next book!:)
It’s sizzling summertime, and Edie can’t wait for the partying to start. Trying to forget about the dastardly Dylan, Edie’s taking her new squeeze Carter to the Glastonbury music festival to have some fun. But guess who’s there already, looking totally gorgeous? That’s right... __________________
Packed with juicy kisses mixed with roller coaster crazy love story.
So this is the second installment of Diary of a crush. Even though everything seems ok at the end of the 1st book, things don't stay that way. Edie and Dylan are having major relationship problems and then it comes down to the point where something major happens and Dylan & Edie break up.
But that is just only the beginning. Later, when she returns from a summer apart from Dylan, she finds out that everything had changed. Dylan is now dating the queen of evil Veronique, Shona gets closer to Veronique and stops hanging out w/ Edie, and Edie is trying to get through life. Even though Dylan is with someone else, he still wants Edie as a friend and Edie accepts but of course it can't be that easy! More conflict occurs.
I'm not giving the whole thing away so go read it!! I have to admit that I really did like this one but it's just not as strong as the first book of Diary of a crush.
It really bother me why is she always kissed by boys even she don't love him and still always find herself kissing back? Shes like "Oh, i kissed you and i liked it, i hope Dylan wont mind it." haha seriously!!
So all in all its a great book. you will find yourself liking the characters as i did. but sometimes you'll find yourself get annoyed to some characters like Edie, Dylan, and Shona. they are really hard-to-read persons, for me. i think. Anyways, Im looking forward to read the third book of this (the last one). I wish i will find that in bargain store or in ebook form. Im dieing to read the ending love story of Dylan and Edie. :) 5/5 stars
Edie and Dylan are in a relationship, but its not all moonshine and roses. Edie is jealous of the manipulative Mia, Dylan is broody as ever and never confides in Edie and their fighting increases. When Edie sees Mia kissing Dylan, she feels she has no choice to break up with Dylan, who doesn't even try to convince her to stay.
Months pass and Edie feels more and more depressed and lonely. She misses Dylan and can't seem to stop crying all the time. After a holiday with her grandparents and old friends, Edie returns determined to move on from Dylan.
But then she finds out that Dylan is dating Veronique, the bitchy redhead who flaunts her relationship with Dylan in Edies face as often as she can. But when Edie discovers that Dylan still wants her, they start making out in secret(which is not so secret as everyone knows that they are sneaking around).
But Edie is hurting too much and starts to enjoy Carters (Veronique's brother) attentions. Carter is loving one minute and the next irritated with Edie when she refuses to sleep with him, no matter how much he pushes.
Later they all go to a festival which Edie is not thrilled about, where Edie decides to give Carter her virginity. But after hearing Carter had kissed not only Poopy but Grace too Edie breaks up with Carter.
Edie and Dylan spend the entire day together enjoying the festival, after which Dylan tells Edie that he needs her and loves her and does not want Veronique anymore.
There's a cat fight between Edie & Veronique, Edie runs away, Carter follows, Dylan finds them, beats up Carter, Edie and Dylan end up in a hotel room Carter paid for and finally end up together (Edie sleeps with Dylan...saying she always wanted it to be him, to which he replies he always wanted it to be him too.)
It took 2 years but finally Dylan and Edie both seem more mature ready to let each other in completely, and give their relationship a real chance.
This is the second book to Diary of a Crush, continuing from Edie's summer with her family in Brighton after leaving Dylan. Edie seems to have matured a lot over the summer, she is now physically more attractive and ready to face whatever comes her way. She goes to a bar with her friends to celebrate the beginning of a new year only to find the one and only Dylan standing right by the doorway when she gets out of the bathroom. Edie doesn't know how to react to this so she tries to make friendly conversation. That is until Dylan's new girlfriend Veronique shows up behind her. She doesn't know how to react to this and so she doesn't say anything. It was a really awkward encounter for her but that's when she realizes that she's not over Dylan yet. When her friends invite her to go to a fair with everyone she joins them and has to watch Veronique and Dylan get very touchy. One morning she can't sleep and wakes up early, to find Dylan standing outside. They decided to spend the day together, which reveals past feelings they have towards each other. In this day the managed to build their bond back and potentially start another relationship.
The second book in the Diary of a Crush trilogy is another fast paced book filled with lots of Edie drama.
In this instalment we follow Edie as she realises life with Dylan isn't as great as first thought. She breaks it off with him and escapes Manchester to live with her grandparents for the summer. We then find out what happens when she returns...
I loved this book alot, I felt Edie was a more relatable character because she wasn't immature and obsessed with Dylan anymore. The storyline felt real and it wasn't a overdone love story. I really fell for Dylan and Edie's relationship and felt sorry for them.
I didn't like any of the new characters that were introduced if I'm honest, Carter was an ass and his sister was even worse. I wish we got to know Poppy more because I felt she was a big part of the story but I didn't know much about her. The writing wasn't good at all and again I wish this wasn't in diary extracts.
The festival was a pretty awesome part of the book and I loved the ending so much. Dylan really is the cutest.
I remembered most of the plot from this one. Edie sees Dylan snogging his 'ex' and breaks up with him. Everyone calls her childish and blames her before freezing her out of the group for being so melodramatic. They both get into toxic/abusive relationships but still end up kissing behind everyone's backs. The book does a good job at least if showing how Carter (or Jake although it's never discussed why he goes by Carter) can be smooth and charming but still an abuser. I think that's valuable information for a young adult. No one seems to know what to do about the new gf hitting Dylan which I guess is also quite realistic but they were so quick to ice out Edie for being pretty reasonable. My favourite bit is where one of her new friends finds out that Edie kissed the boy in their friend group she fancies and is hurt by it? They're 18!
Other than that there's a lot of romance and wish fulfilment, perfect for a summer palette cleanser while the kids are off school. On to the big American Roadtrip!

This book is about Dylan and Eddie. Dylan and Eddie love each other but sometimes things get out of hand. The setting takes place in England. Eddie's external conflict is with Dylan's psycho girlfriend Vernoique. She is wondering if she should just stay away from her or not care and spend time with Dylan. Her internal conflict is about choosing Carter or not. Carter is Veronique's brother, Eddie is all alone now that the psycho girlfriend has taken over Dylan's life. So she is wondering if she should stay lonely or just tell Carter yes. When I was reading tis book i made a Text to text connection. In Diary of a crush French Kiss. Dylan and Eddie are together but they have problems. So this book is pretty much the hart of this series. I would give this book 2 stars. The characters are really boring in this book but I guess it is the best one but I still say the characters are really dumbfounded and boring.
The 2nd book in the series diary of a crush, this book is definitely the turning point in this series. Edie and Dylan "breaks" up and they both meet new people. Edie is going out with Carter and Dylan is going out with Veronique. Both they bother have feelings with each other, still. Edie then can't stop it and starts to kiss Dylan again. Veronique then starts to yell at them. Veronique, is trying to prevent them form getting back together. Towards the end of the story, everyone goes to like a camping trip. Here, Edie almost gave her virginity to carter but realizes that carter was playing around the whole time. But then, Dylan and Edie gets back together. I love this series, its amazing!! I hope they don't break up again. Anybody that likes love stories and romantic stuff, read this!!!!!
