Fun story behind reading this book. My mom was a physical therapist before she became a stay-at-home mom when I was born. When she was 20, she did an internship working with kids who had Cerebral Palsy. When I told Mom I was reading this book, she realized something kind of cool. I've never had any interest in the medical field, but now, at 20 years old, I'm learning about Cerebral Palsy. Like mother, like daughter!

Anyway, in case the above story didn't make this obvious, I'm not the target audience for this book. I'm not a parent, do not work in the medical field, and have had very limited exposure to individuals with Cerebral Palsy. My interest in the topic stems from two things. 1) I hope to someday adopt or work with orphans and want to learn as much as I can about as many different special needs as possible and 2) I just started sponsoring a little girl who has diplegic CP.

Because I don't fit the target audience for this book, large portions of it were a bit dry (stuff like how to help your child fit into classroom settings). However, the information about CP, it's causes, treatments, etc. were very informative and even interesting. I'm sure some of the info is outdated since the book was published in the 90s, but it worked for my purposes.

Read this early on with my son's diagnosis. Extremely helpful.

Since each chapter was written by a different author, there was a lot of repetition. Otherwise, it was well written and researched. Considering it is 20+ years old, it is still very relevant.

What a great book this was. I've read a lot of literature explaining the ins and outs of Cerebral Palsy, but this book has it all. Included is even a treatment plan to guide parents who would otherwise have no idea where to begin.
