“If You’re Going Through Hell, Keep Going! By Doug Giles.
The title of this book caught my eye in an email marketing campaign. It made me laugh. Last year was a tough year for my wife and I. We both lost our mothers one after another and in the middle of it all, my bride broke her hip. We’ve been through a lot together and God’s grace was and is always sufficient. We know from experience to keep on keeping on in our trials. Doug does an ok job of making that point in his book. Sometimes he is funny and sometimes he seems to try too hard to make a spiritual point in a worldly way. To say he is blunt is an understatement. On the other hand, sometimes it takes a whack on the noggin to get our attention. Only God’s grace can give you what you need for salvation and the same thing is true when it comes to everyday life after that. I wish we had more Christians today that were not afraid to stand up for biblical values with a traditional Christian dignity. Church clowns are a dime a dozen.
I really loved the book except sometimes his "colorful" language was a little more colorful than I'm comfortable with. The book is a strong call to action for Christians to understand they will face tribulation in life and Biblical principles on how to deal with tough times. Giles says most Christians today are pantywaists ... and most churches and most Christians aren't the Church Militant God calls us to be. He wants to shake up apathetic Christians, and I think he succeeds.
