I'm a pretty big fan of Beth Kery/Bethany Kane's writing, and I've been eager to see if she could top (or equal) my favorite book of hers, Daring Time. With Addicted To You she comes close, but I'm afraid I had too many issues with the hero and he didn't totally win me over until late in the book for me to rank this one as a favorite.
The basics:
Ruggedly handsome 36-year-old Rill Pierce is a famous Hollywood screenwriter/director. He came to the US from Ireland at the age of 19 to attend UCLA. There he became best friends with Everett Hughes (now a movie star), his younger sister Katie (now a Beverly Hills tax attorney), and married Katie's best friend Eden. The marriage was far from perfect. Eighteen months ago Eden died in a car accident (carrying a secret with her), and ever since then Rill has been living the life of a recluse in a remote part of southern Illinois (Vulture's Canyon), grieving, drinking, feeling sorry and mentally torturing himself, and generally giving up on life.

Spirited beauty Katie Hughes, 30, quits the job she has become increasingly dissatisfied with and heads to Illinois to see if she can "save" Rill. makes an impression on a few of the quirky locals at the diner, and heads up the hill to the old Mitchell place where Rill answers the door in a drunken state. He doesn't immediately recognize the petite, curvaceous, long haired "angel" at the door, but manages to convince her to make love with him. This is Katie's fondest wish...but does Rill even know it's her? Wouldn't this be taking advantage of their friendship? Oh who cares...these two are smokin' hot together!
Katie decides to stick around and help Rill through his pain and to get off the booze. Rill tries to resist his baser instincts around Katie (he's a bit uptight about his sexuality and doesn't want to become like the 'loose' mother who barely raised him)--after all, she should be off limits since she's his best friend's little sister. But Katie isn't a little girl anymore and she knows what she wants. And darn if Rill isn't seeing Katie in a tempting new light...
Well that should give you an idea where this is heading. Katie is determined to stick around until Rill gets his life back on track. Rill is determined to resist the increasingly alluring Katie. Which one will win? Can they both? Or is it ineveitable that these two friends belong together?
Lots of sexual tension in this one as Rill does everything in his power to resist having a relationship with Katie. Lots of pushing and pulling, giving in and then retreating by Rill. He doesn't resist when it comes to oral sex, but at first that's as far as he seems willing to go (look for a scene involving a double dutch door!)

...but you know the longer Katie can hang in there, they'll eventually do the deed. And they do. Boy do they do...Katie eventually becomes an addiction for Rill. You get your tree swing sex,

and eventually, Katie belly dances for him and...whew what follows! But, what does all this mean? Is it just lust, or does Katie mean more to Rill? Will he let her mean more to him?

Rill was not my favorite hero. Well at least he didn't start out that way. I thought he was moody, a bit selfish, and often an ass. I thought he hurt Katie (who I really liked) too many times, but she stubbornly just came back for more. She just refused to give up on him. Many times I wanted her to just wash her hands of him. But gradually BK started to reveal more and more about Rill, and I could understand why he was acting like he did (although I still think he carried on a bit much). Towards the end of the book I was feeling much more sympathetic towards him, and wanted things to work out for Katie and him.
No complaints here about the sex scenes. BK can steam up the pages with the best of them, and she really brings the heat in this one. Lots of steamy, erotic dialogue from Rill's lips, and multiple sex acts between Rill and Katie. If you like things steamy, you should have no complaints with this one.
Rill had a fascination with Katie's boots...
If Rill was a bit more likable, this would've been a 5 star read. The writing was good, the pacing was fast, the background details were sufficient, and there were some interesting minor characters and a few plot twists.
Barnyard, a "minor" character...
But Rill carried on and obsessed over his problems a bit much, so he wasn't quite as sympathetic to me. Katie I loved--she was a spitfire and I think Rill was lucky to have her. But if you're a fan of any of Beth Kery's books, or you like your heroes brooding and tortured, I would recommend you give this a try. For me, this was a solid 4 star read.
Warning: This book contains explicit sex (both oral and one anal scene) and graphic language, some light spanking, and some light bondage (tying hands with a scarf). Not for the faint of heart.

After reading two works by Bethany Kane’s alter-ego Beth Kery, I was very excited to explore her works under this nom de plume. I’ve often found that when a favorite author writes under two pen names, each name seems to take on a different writing personality. Addicted to You is a great example of this.
While I’d never describe writings under Beth Kery as “light-hearted”, Addicted to You had a darker, more sultry mood about it. Most of this is due to hero’s palpable state of mind. Rill Pierce is a writer/director in the throes of a life crisis. When his wife was killed two years ago, he stayed in a place where his plane got delayed in layover, Vulture Canyon, Illinois. He just pushed the pause button on his life in every way possible.
Having had enough of this, Katie Hughes, Rill’s best friend’s sister comes Vulture Canyon to knock some sense into him. Katie has always had Rill in her heart and loved his deceased wife, Eden like a sister. She doesn’t like that Rill hasn’t moved forward and leaves her life in L.A. behind to go do something about it. Or is she running from a life she’s not so sure she wants anymore?
When Katie knocks on Rill’s door, the encounter is explosive! It’s hot, incendiary and raw. Rill has been living at the bottom of a bottle since Eden died in a car accident. A car accident that brought to light many ugly truths about his wife. When Katie finds him he’s in bad shape, very drunk, calling her an “angel”, believing she’s here to give him one more moment of happiness before he dies. He acts as if he doesn’t recognize her.
The next day, we get treated to Rill experiencing Katie while sober, along with a cast of characters from the town that will make you laugh out loud. They’re a hoot! If you go to Sherona’s diner, you can get meatloaf with mash potatoes and gravy AND a haircut all for under $10! But all of these great people have unexpected depths and continuously surprise you.
Rill wants Katie to go, but she refuses. And slowly but surely, Katie gets under Rill’s skin, the way he’s always been under hers. She drags him gradually into the joyful part of life and I found that VERY enjoyable. It was like watching a flower sprout and bloom. This is where Kane’s writing really shines. She can use sex so well to show you how the characters feel and to tell the story, I find myself breathing fast, reading fast, like I’m experiencing it myself.
Rill doesn’t move forward easily, but Katie, with her intelligence, kindness and gypsy soul can’t help but penetrate the darkness that Rill believes resides inside himself, genetically. He believes it’s in his DNA to be an alcoholic, no-good lech. Katie doesn’t see it that way and sets out to prove it, using her heart, her body and her love for him.
Addicted to You was an amazing journey to watch unfold. This author has such a way with words, I just adore it. To experience each hurdle with the couple was like an emotional roller coaster, but one I relished. Definite recommended read.
What I loved about Addicted to You:
-Sex in the first chapter. I know this is a selling point for a lot of readers and it is for me too. It means you don’t have to wait for half the book to get to the good stuff.
-Rill’s Irish accent becoming more pronounced when he’s more emotional. I like that he says, “Sweet Jaysus” all the time.
-The cast of characters in Vulture’s Canyon. They are a hoot!
-Ray and William Pierce, Rill’s uncles and petty criminal extraordinaires. When did I start liking criminals?
-That Rill call Katie, “Shine”, short for Sunshine.
-Katie’s indelible spirit and desire to not only help Rill, but the people of Vulture’s Canyon as well. Even if she does drive up in a Maserati.
-Rill is a Dom. Again, not the leather-wearing-BDSM-club-hopping kind, but the very real you’re-gonna-do-what-I-say-in-bed kind. Hot!

Addicted to You by Bethany Kane is one of those titles that I stumbled upon quite accidentally whilst hopping through Twitter. Upon seeing the cover I was tempted and seeing the "friends-to-lovers" tag scream at me, I was sold and within minutes I pushed everything else aside and loaded up with this delectable piece of erotic contemporary romance, I let myself be swept away on the heady journey filled with all sorts of body tingling moments towards Rill and Katie's happily ever after.
36 year old Rill Pierce is a brilliant, widely acclaimed writer and director who seems to have lost his way after the death of his wife Eden. Ever since the untimely demise of Eden which had shocked him with the news it had brought forth, Rill retires to the secluded town of Vulture's Canyon in Illinois where he has been holed up for the past 18 months, licking his wounds which keeps on festering rather than healing. Tortured with the thoughts of how he has failed his wife whom he had adored with his very soul, Rill is a man who seems to be drowning himself in the oblivion that drink seems to bring him when his best friend's little sister storms into his life, forcing him to face the demons that seems to hound him.

Katie is my favorite type of heroine; strong, nurturing where its needed and with a heart of gold that bleeds for the pain Rill finds himself in. She doesn't give up, even when Rill is his meanest, trying to drive away the woman who is a match for him in every single way. Towards the end there is a swing smexing scene that any fan of erotica ought to read. Imaginative and mind numbingly hot is all I'm saying!
Recommended for fans of erotic contemporary romance who loves the friends-to-lovers trope and a high content & variety of sensual material in their stories.

Rill, Rill, Rill. How much do I love thee?
A whole helluva lot, let me tell you.
This book surprised me. I went in to it thinking it would be good (since it's Bethany Kane, aka Beth Kery after all), but I didn't think it would be THIS good.
I will never be a doubter again. Lesson learned.
Why did I like this book so much? That's an easy answer: the story. The character development. The pacing. Oh hell, all of it!
But seriously, character development is important and the author does an excellent job giving us the backgrounds of the characters and why they are acting the way they are. Especially with RIll. He is a seriously broken man in the beginning, in emotional turmoil from the death of his wife (and something else related to this but I won't give away what).
Katie comes to get him out of his rut and...well...just read it. I was floored at the way it opened. Didn't see THAT coming at all. And can I just say, that I LOVED how Katie knew what she wanted and she WENT for it. There was no waffling (okay maybe a little but she still KNEW what she wanted). I loved that. So many times heroines fight it, or waffle over their decisions, going back and forth, and ugh, it makes me dizzy after awhile. But not Katie. She was determined. And I loved her for that. Rill broke my heart many times at how he thought there was something wrong with him, his struggle with what he wanted (and what he needed). I'm so happy that Katie was able to help him through that (and give him what he needed.)
Lastly, there is a bit of suspense going on, but I liked how the author didn't focus on that. It was an exciting side story and had just the right amount of it intertwined with the rest of the story.

A whole helluva lot, let me tell you.
This book surprised me. I went in to it thinking it would be good (since it's Bethany Kane, aka Beth Kery after all), but I didn't think it would be THIS good.
I will never be a doubter again. Lesson learned.
Why did I like this book so much? That's an easy answer: the story. The character development. The pacing. Oh hell, all of it!
But seriously, character development is important and the author does an excellent job giving us the backgrounds of the characters and why they are acting the way they are. Especially with RIll. He is a seriously broken man in the beginning, in emotional turmoil from the death of his wife (and something else related to this but I won't give away what).
Katie comes to get him out of his rut and...well...just read it. I was floored at the way it opened. Didn't see THAT coming at all. And can I just say, that I LOVED how Katie knew what she wanted and she WENT for it. There was no waffling (okay maybe a little but she still KNEW what she wanted). I loved that. So many times heroines fight it, or waffle over their decisions, going back and forth, and ugh, it makes me dizzy after awhile. But not Katie. She was determined. And I loved her for that. Rill broke my heart many times at how he thought there was something wrong with him, his struggle with what he wanted (and what he needed). I'm so happy that Katie was able to help him through that (and give him what he needed.)
Lastly, there is a bit of suspense going on, but I liked how the author didn't focus on that. It was an exciting side story and had just the right amount of it intertwined with the rest of the story.

3 ½ stars. Slightly above average for story. Good for lots of hot sex.

Some side stories include Katie accidentally injures a mentally challenged man and helps him with his physical therapy. A resort/casino developer is attracted to Katie. Rill has questions about his former wife and his mother.

Addicted to You by Bethany Kane is the first book in her new One Night of Pleasure series. Bethany Kane is actually the pen name for Beth Kery – who I think I’ve only read a few short stories from anthologies prior to this. I’m really impressed with this book. First of all, it is erotic. Maybe I should say EROTIC. The sex scenes are numerous and very explicit. Rill (who is Irish with an accent – swoon) is in a bad place when Katie finds him. We are told throughout the book that previous to his wife dying, he was a carefree, funny, charming man. He is none of that here. He is not only struggling with a dead wife, and a few secrets from his marriage, but his mother was a prostitute, dragging Rill to a new man’s house every night growing up. This fear of becoming her, or becoming one of his degenerate uncles, won’t leave him. He is terrified of losing control, so at first he makes her bound her hands, so have some semblance of control:
She held her hands together and raised them above her head. He glanced away, the evidence of her sadness and the arousing image of her putting her hands up to be bound making him feel like he straddled a razor’s edge.
It’ll be okay. It’ll be okay, he told himself repeatedly as he bound Katie’s hands to the wrought-iron posts of the headboard. It’ll be just like last night, and you kept it under control then. He hadn’t yet fallen into the degenerate pit where his relatives lived, where carnal desires and selfishness ruled his very existence.
So although he is attracted to Katie, to him sex is not always a fun, joyous occasion. So the sex in this book has a very dark, intense tone. It is written very, very well.
I will say the very first chapter made me say WTF a few times. I was confused and honestly a bit put off by what happens. But carry forth – because it all comes to an understanding as you read the book.
While Rill takes on a life changing transformation, Katie finds some insight as well. Never super happy in her former high-powered tax days, she embraces this rural town much more than Rill does. The locals are quite the characters and provide a nice backdrop to this story.
I really loved the journey Rill and Katie go on. It is not an easy one. Rill has to overcome many demons. It really packs an emotional punch along with some very erotic scenes.

Well, I bought this one because I listened to a workshop this author gave with Julie James. I'm soooo glad I gave her a try. For me, it was well worth the higher ticket price as well. Beautifully written and smokin' hot scenes between Rill and Katie.
In fact, I was reading this beside my brother on the train and got a little uncomfortable. I was expecting the story to be sexy, but truly didn't think it would make my damn face flame off.
I'm a sucker for an Irish accent, I admit...but it wasn't overused. It was a tell for Katie to show just how out of control Rill could get when the passion flared between them.
I liked the backstory about Rill's wife and his past, how it molded him and created the Rill that Katie had grown up with. And then to see the different side of him when all of his carefully built shields were torn away and they became a unit as they both healed.
Truly touching and scorching scenes between them.
Rill was definitely at the top of my Alpha scale. A touch more and I would have been turned off by his dominant side. It was tempered by his obvious growing love for Katie despite the walls he tried to put between them.
I'll definitely be looking for more Bethany Kane.

“It’s going to be the healthiest thing I’ve ever done in my life, becoming addicted to you.”
I actually enjoy reading this story. It’s heartbreaking and beautiful. I may just have a little qualms on the characters’s personality.
Katie Hughes was tired of maintaining a façade to appear on just how people sees her. So for once in her life, she tried to be irresponsible. Her mission? Save the man she love from himself.
Katie’s trademark is her Maserati. She’s compassionate and she wants to do something worthwhile in her life. To do a philanthropic service that is fulfilling, not just host charity events and be the pretty face.
Rill Pierce is the perfect hero for me. An alcoholic, doesn’t-give-a-damn-about-the-world person, a first class asshole and bastard. In short ‘perfect’.
Rill is a renowned director and after his wife died, he decided to hide from the world. Literally. In a town named Vulture’s Canyon, on classic American beauty of a house that had been neglected and fallen into disrepair.
As much as I love their journey towards love, acceptance and living, there were moments that I felt I want to shout or get something so I could pound it on Katie’s head. Or like throw something in frustration. Yeah, Rill is a first class bastard Katie wanted to save but on her quest for love, she lost her respect for herself. I feel like she was on the verge of being a doormat. Yeah yeah, you love him, you don’t want to give up on him but arghh! Gad, seriously!
Anyway, it was emotional and heart breaking. Too heart breaking near the end. Aside from that, Rill’s quest on knowing his parental lineage is quite a familiar path to me, something I’ve already read before. Well, but I love his uncles. They were humorous. He made the right decision in the end, on what to believe and what to make of his life.
That more than my frustrations was the saving grace for me for not tossing and forgetting about this book. I love the character development in the story. It wasn’t an instant change, it was a struggle to be a better person not because you wanted the one you love to see you that way but because it’s what you feel you should do for yourself.
And well, the sex were really truly hot.

Something about those Irish heroes – they get me every time! :) Addicted To You’s Rill is no exception. This is a friends-to-lovers erotic romance set in a backwoods town, Vulture’s Canyon. Rill is a talented film writer and director who has abandoned his life. He’s been living in isolation in a secluded cabin, depressed and heavily liquored up, ever since his wife’s sudden death. He’s no longer writing and he’s unwilling to interact with the community, save a few meals and store visits to replenish is alcohol supply.
The story begins with the arrival of Rill’s best friend’s little sister, on a mission to save him. Katie has been in love with Rill for years, as he was a close family friend. Despite his seemingly perfect relationship with his now deceased wife, she couldn’t help her feelings, but she never acted on them. Rill is completely plastered when Katie arrives – so much so that he doesn’t even recognize her – but he knows one thing, and it’s that he has to have the woman before him like he needs to breathe. But their encounters go from wicked hot to awkward the very next day. Rill want Katie out! Out of his cabin, and out of his life. But Katie has given up a successful but unsatisfying law practice. She’s going to see this through, even if she has to use her body to save Rill from himself.
Rill has some heavy emotional baggage that has been lingering since long before his wife’s death. He has a wild, dominant and nearly insatiable sexual appetite, but having dealt with his alcoholic, neglectful and promiscuous mother during his childhood years, Rill has kept that part of himself repressed for the whole of his adult life…until Katie….And there’s no closing that door once addiction sets in. No surprise if you’re familiar with Beth Kery/Bethany Kane’s work, but the love scenes were HOT and creative – there’s always something new and inventive. This time around, there were 2! It was Rill’s clever use of an outdoor tree swing, and the scene with the Double Dutch Door...WOW...I’ll leave it at that.
Beyond the healing and self-acceptance at the core of this story, we also meet a few lovable characters from the town and learn about some of the challenges in preserving its way of life. Addicted To You is a series starter, and I’m hoping the next one continues to give us more angsty romance. A solid 4.5 stars.

So, the first thing you have to understand before even start reading this book is that Rill Pierce is an asshole. A gigantic asshole.
Sometimes, when he treated Katie like crap, I felt a tremendous pull to just clock him right beside the head. My violent instincts were at full force.
And I didn't understand the shit he tried to always convince himself with. He was always like "You're my wife's best friend", "You're my best friend's little sister" and blah,blah,blah... Let's start analyzing this, Rill. So from what I could understand, you're afraid to jump into bed (because nope, you don't want to date the woman, just fuck her- jerk) with Katie, one of your oldest friends, because your cheating wife (who is dead, and was pregnant with another man's baby) was best friends with her?
And seriously? Your friend knows that she was in love with you for a long time, honey. So if you were to really be with her, he would have no problems.
To sum it up, since I'm starting to sound like a psychologist, Rill was a pussy, who didn't like being a pussy, and shoved the blame of him being a big pussy all on Katies shoulders.
But I got to admit that the man is pure hotness. So I understand the motive behind Katie's patience...Believe me, that's the sole reason of why she was so keen on still helping him. The man was an ogre.
Katie was so great! I really liked her. She was strong and yet sensible, not exagerating in any way.

Came as something of a disappointment to me, just because I saw this hyped. The external conflict was flimsy, though that's not why we read Bethany Kane (aka Beth Kery). It's mostly about the emotional relationship and sexual journey, which in this case dragged. Maybe it's because I've read too many of her books, but I liked the hero and sex scenes in Explosive and some of the other books better.
Katy felt inconsistent to me and I didn't believe in her character arc.
I really liked Katy's brother though. In the scenes they were together, I felt like he overshadowed Rill. If she ends up doing a sequel with him, I'd probably read it.

Ce n'est certes pas un coup de coeur mais c'est une lecture agréable, une romance classique, épicée comme tous les romans sentimentaux contemporains de ces dernières années.
L'histoire est convenue, et par rapport à des héros assez classiques, j'ai presque préféré la galerie de personnages secondaires qui auraient mérité d'être plus présents, comme le fait avec énormément de talent Kristan Higgins.
J'ai d'ailleurs été surprise par la longueur du roman, car il ne se passe pas grand chose, et la psychologie des héros n'est pas très approfondie.
Pourtant, on ne s'ennuie jamais, c'est fluide et prenant.
Et chose très agréable, on n'a pas affaire à un héros arrogant comme c'est la grande mode, juste à un mâle alpha blessé et un peu sauvage.
C'est donc hot et plaisant mais pas inoubliable pour moi.

Weak but entertaining story, excellent steamy scenes and I really liked author’s style.

Let me first start off by saying I LOVED Addicted to You! From the opening pages, I was hooked. The descriptions are wonderfully vivid, the characters are brilliant and brought to life through flawless dialogue, there’s an abundance of humour, a heaping helping of erotica, and a heart-warming, impossibly addictive love story at its root.
Rill Pierce. You’ll fall in love with the man before you even get a chance to know him. He’s an Irishman (points for that), with sexy, rugged looks (more points), he wears jeans like they were made for him (major points for that), and has a head of hair that you’ll ache to sink your fingers into (infinity points). And Katie Hughes—the headstrong, independent, determined, affectionate, nurturing, glorious Katie Hughes. Her hair is like her personality—wild and reckless and free, but dependable and permanent too.
Following the tragic death of his wife, Rill holes up in a dilapidated house in the hills, drowning his sorrows in whiskey. Katie appears on his doorstep, the vision of an angel in his drunken stupor, and he ravages her like a starving man. SERIOUSLY?!? Rill and Katie give new meaning to the word “multiples”! Im totally impressed!
The Rundown:
Sultry Irish film director, Rill Peirce, has thrown himself into seclusion after his wife’s death and has become a drunken recluse for the past 18 months. Barely able to leave his dilapidated house for more than food and alcohol, he’s known around town as the grouch who lives on the hill.
Tax attorney Katie Hughes has decided Rill has been in hiding long enough. Her long time crush for her childhood friend has sent her into the hills of Vulture’s Canyon to get Rill sober, clean and writing again. Along with trying to get Rill to rejoin society, she’s also decided she needs to make some changes of her own and find fulfillment with her own life, so she’s quit her job and is in search for her next big project.
Only when she gets there, she realizes she might have bitten off more then she can chew. Rill’s drunken behavior sets things into motion on her first day in town that will change both their lives forever. Katie’s not sure even she can save Rill, but one thing is for sure, she’s NOT leaving until she can get through to him.
The Review:
This book had me pulsating from beginning to end! From the very first page, we are introduced to a very primal, animalistic male lead! Rill thinks he’s a flagrant miscreant steeped in debauchery who’s trying to abjure himself in seclusion since his wife’s death eighteen months prior. Guilt ridden and binging on alcohol, he’s given up all pretense of life outside the bottle. In walks an uninvited Katie, a childhood friend, and sparks immediately fly. Katie, at this point is just holding on for all she’s worth even while enjoying Rill’s sybaritic ways! They fight, they make out and they are hedonistic.
This story was well written and very satisfying on all points. It had a true romance with tender as well as salacious scenes and lots of character development. Katie and Rill both have pasts they need to put to rest and a future to find. I loved the small town of Vulture’s Canyon with its colorful cast of characters. There was a back story going on while Rill and Katie were finding each other that was both interesting and exciting.
The Wrap Up:
What a hot, steamy, addictive read! I couldn't put it down. It was purely self-indulgent and oh so worth the eye strain from reading it in one setting! Im officially a fan and can’t wait to dig into another book by this author! I’ll definitely put this book in my “re-read” pile to come back to time and again.

I couldn't connect to the characters and couldn't care less if they got together or not which I'm sure inevitably they will.
I just found it very cliche and have read so much better.

Katie Hughes shows up in Vulture’s Canyon for many different reasons – the main one to try and “help” or “save” Rill from this black hole he’s in. She’s also trying to find a bit of herself as the life she’s living isn’t one that’s making her happy. Besides that – she’s been in love with Rill for years but as his dead wife was her best friend she obviously never made a move.
Rill is completely un-thrilled with Katie being there and tells her to leave more than once but does he really want her to leave? Not really. He thinks that he’s doing her a favor by trying to make her leave because he thinks of himself as an sexual deviant that’s barely in control. But Katie’s more than ready to take on Rill and all he has to offer. The relationship with Rill is tumultuous at first but soon they become close and Katie finds herself falling even deeper in love with Rill. Katie’s not sure though, how Rill feels about her and where, if anywhere, their relationship will go.
I really enjoyed this first read by Bethany Kane. This was definitely my kind of erotic romance: great sex scenes as well as great story.
Rill, the poor guy, was totally messed up. He had discovered things about his wife after she died that sent him into a tailspin. Besides that he was just certain he was a chip off the old block in the sex dept. His mother went from man to man to man and his uncles were total skirt chasers among many other things. He had a hard time thinking about what he could become if he let himself go sexually and frankly had never snapped the leash, so to speak, with his wife. Then along comes Katie. She’s gorgeous and a spitfire and not afraid to take Rill on.
Katie hated her job in Hollywood and though she heads to Illinois to help Rill she’s also looking inward and trying to find out what she really wants out of life when it comes to her career. The people of Vulture’s Canyon look on her suspiciously because of where she’s from and the car she drives, but they help her work out many issues – including one that helps with her future job. I loved how Kane worked the townspeople into the story and how they helped Katie. It seemed like a typical small town but it really was so much more.
Overall this was a fun, sexy, somewhat emotional read that definitely made me want to read more of Kane’s work.

Hmm...this is a toughie for me.
I'd say that the story itself was just average for me, neither great, nor bad.
Rill is a Hollywood director, who after losing his wife, goes on a bit of a recluse in Volture's Canyon that involves little thinking and a whole lot of drinking. All the while, we find out that he's also suppressing his basic sexual (raunchy) urges. ehhh...OK...been there read that.
In comes Katie Hughes, his dead wife's best friend and his best friend's sister, to save him.
There's a bit of a villain? I guess you can call him that...although it doesn't really get resolved at the end. Perhaps the author plans on doing that in the future books in this series (I haven't read them yet)
The plot is neither boring nor exiting, it just IS. That's the most I can say about it.
Now...as for the other part of this book: zeeee sex!

Mother of GAWD does Bethany Kane know how to write a good sex scene. That alone took this book from a 2.5 star to a 4 star read for me. They are long and the are HAWT! The author manages to do what a lot cannot...the lengthy sex scenes are never boring, repetitive, or drawn out. I might have needed a cold shower after certain chapters. Phew!
So my humble opinion? Average plot with above average shmexy scenes.
oh and my mental image of Rill didn't hurt either

If you love sexually intense heroes (and I definitely do), you're going to love this book. Rill is full of self loathing and in other books I've read that tended to get tiresome after a while, but in 'Addicted To You', it fits and his reasoning is explained sufficiently. His deep depression is justified too, and I applauded Katie for not giving up even when he repeatedly pushed her away. At the same time, she wasn't spineless, which I appreciate in a heroine. The characters were likeable and intelligent, and the sex was explicit and scorching hot. I also liked the secondary characters, especially Errol, who I interpret as an adult with Asperger's Syndrome.
And lest I forget, this is a friends-to-lovers story, which is absolutely one of my very top favorite themes. I could hardly pry myself away from reading this one, and I definitely recommend it to other fans of well-written contemporary erotic romance.

As my first book by this author, the bite that held me throughout the story was Rill, the drunken Irishman. He’s insensitive, unpredictable, randy, and gorgeous-–only made more savory with that accent. The bulk of the conflict hovered around him and his self-torment. Some external drama was introduced-–potential jealously over the diner waitress, the fragile friendship between Rill and Everett, the riverboat tycoon, the diner/hostage scene, Rill’s unknown father-–but these altercations were never really developed and nothing came from them. So, the only tension was dependent on Rill’s closet of skeletons. Nevertheless, it was enough for a light read, compelling me to come back for more from this author.

I recently read a book with a similar premise to Addicted to you with a grumpy/damaged hero which has the heroine kicking his arse to next Sunday to wake up from his funk. Addicted to You, was a hot, sexy and an emotional read. The romance between Katie and Rill was full on sexual tension that hits high on the temperature front and the love scenes, were some of the hottest I've read in a long while. I also loved the small town setting with the quirky and colourful cast of supporting characters. Although I wasn't keen on the subplot which affected the ending but the real heart of the book was a hero who discovers what real love is about and how earthy and passionate it can be compared to an idealised one. Highly recommended!

Ужасна! Тази книга определено се нарежда сред най-разочароващите, които съм чела. Не знам как успях да я довърша, на няколко пъти бях на път да се откажа. Между героите нямаше никаква химия, те самите бяха просто потресаващи. Любовната им ,,история'' просто не можах да я разбера. Липсваше сюжет от всякъде. Имах чувството, че авторката просто е писала за някакво малко градче, пълно с луди. Изобщо не можах да се свържа с героите, нито да усетя какво изпитват един към друг. Ще спомена и превода, който беше доста зле (въпреки, че това беше най-малкия проблем на книгата). Като цяло голямо разочарование, не бих я препоръчала. 1/5⭐️

I found and started this book because I wanted to read something with the reunited lovers or unrequited love type of theme. Particularly I wanted a childhood crush that is realized in adulthood, and that is sort of what happens here.
This book didn't go where I thought it would and it didn't have the tone I was looking for. This story is darker but a little deeper than I expected.
I enjoyed reading about the relationship developments of these two characters as well as their own personal journeys in life. It's not just a smutty romance, but a satisfying read.
