So, I thought this was the actual version of Moby Dick the entire time I was reading it. It wasn’t until I told my friend how short it was that she informed me that I had just spent several hours of my life reading the abridged version of this classic. Lesson learned. At least I got the gist of the story, right?
I didn't realize I was getting an abridged edition of the story when I requested it from the library. Part of me was relieved that the language was modernized, but I felt there must have been parts that affected character development that were missing.
I read this book to my six year old brother. This version is abridged, so it held his interest the entire time and he understood it well. This is a nice quick read and is great for all ages.
There's some wild adventure in this book. And in this book pretty much the whole thing is in the sea. This book also shows one thing - you never know what's going to happen in the future and sometimes good friends can be different from you but they can still have heart.
