I picked this up at a thrift store's book liquidation sale. It appears to have been in a former high school library, however I felt the text was more than appropriate as an introductory piece for a student at the university level. This concise text is clearly well researched, and cites work from very reputable religious scholars. A very good introduction, however, I was surprised the author did not address aniconism, and had (in that same vein) included multiple depictions of the Prophet Muhammed. So, fair warning for any Muslim readers that these images are included.
This book presents an in-depth look in the Islamic religion. It examines practices, changes and the origin of Islam. The author included the challenges that the people of the Islamic faith face each day.
