The first reaction that I had when I finished this book was "Damn it, I want to read it all over again from the beginning just to savor it". THAT doesn't happen a lot.

The summary is good enough the explain about the book. So, I'm just going to straight to my opinion. Evin (love the name) KinKaid and Mason Thorne are two of the most wonderful characters in shifter stories. I love them so much. While their relationship happens pretty fast (Evin and Mason meet when Mason has sort of an accident with his car and Evin is the mechanic dealing with it) but the chemistry is so palpable. I don't question myself that the two guys belong to one another. The tingles I feel from my feet to my chest everytime I read their interaction are proofs how the story moves me.

Sure, there is no surprising plot -- even the decision that Evin takes related to Mason's fate and his pack is predictable -- but it doesn't mean that the story feels outdated or cliché. In fact, I celebrate their story because it is a perfect combination of attraction, deep emotion, yearning, and how love conquers all. The ending is sexy with a touch of naughty (very delicious, I might add).

Definitely one of my favorite books in the M/M paranormal/urban fantasy genre that I read this year.

Potentially interesting idea was not enough to make up for shallow, undeveloped, one-dimensional characters; skipping over large portions of plot; unsatisfying conflict resolution that lacked any credibility; and, yet again, a disproportionate weight on the sex scenes, as if the story was really an excuse to string together a bunch of hot werewolf sex. These days you can find plenty of books full of hot werewolf (or any other kind of) sex - lots of sex really isn't any longer, if it ever was, a sufficient disguise (or recompense) for a weak story and mediocre writing, at least not for this reader.

2.5 stars.

Let me just say, I have a serious love for werewolf romances, so when I read a werewolf-themed blurb that sounds even remotely interesting, I just can't say no. Unfortunately though, most of the shifter romances I run across turn out to be way too heavy on the smexing and way too light on the actual plot or character development. And for me at least, Bloodlines falls squarely into that 2-3 star, way too much smexing, not enough plot category.

On the good side, however, I'll also say that if you are in the mood for a light, smutty, werewolf-themed erotica, this isn't a bad choice. The writing is decent, and the sex is pretty hot. The characters are also likable, if not fleshed out enough in my opinion. So yeah, as a generic erotica, it's not bad.

Bottom Line: Way too much smexing for my personal taste and mood, so if you are looking for a well-developed character/plot-driven romance, this probably isn't for you, either. However, if you are more in the mood for straight up erotica (lots of sex with underdeveloped plot and characters), then this might be more to your liking.

Very good (and smokin' hot) paranormal m/m romance about a wolf shapeshifter, supposed to be the next alpha of his pack, who's kicked out of his pack when his father discovers he's gay.

I've been in a shapeshifter mood lately and Bloodlines was just the right book to keep me satisfied in that regard. The main character, Evin, is a wolf shifter and not just that, he's also the Alpha Prime of his pack. As the only son born to the alpha of the KinKaid wolf pack, the responsibility of mating and continuing the dominant bloodline of his family falls to him. But he happens to be gay, something he can't keep a secret any longer when his mate to be, Jocelyn, wants to share his bed. He blurts out his sexual preference to her and shortly after that his father bans him from the pack.

Fast forward one year. Evin is working as a car mechanic when Mason, a handsome human, brings his car in after he had an accident with it, due to the sudden appearance of a white wolf on the road. When Evin and Mason look at each other in the car shop it's lust at first sight. Fortunately for them it'll take a few days before the car parts that are needed to fix Mason's car will arrive, so they can spend a long weekend together. And they use most of their time to have scorching hot sex. I thought these scenes were written very well, they made me believe in their attraction immediately. However, while the physical connection between these two hot heroes was obvious, I missed a bit of the psychological connection. Although they both are/were in similar situations - trying to live up to their father's expectations and having to subdue their sexuality for that - they never share anything from their lives with each other. They don't talk about anything other than how hot they are for one another.
Yet, after only four days their feelings have turned into something that looks suspiciously like love. Somehow this is not completely unbelievable, because through the intimate, sexy scenes the emotional connection is conveyed quite clearly. Still, I would've liked to see more of their developing feelings taken place outside of the bedroom.

Then the end of their short period of time together nears and they both are reluctant to say goodbye. But how can a wolf shifter and a human, who doesn't know anything about his lover's other identity, have a future together? Here the plot takes an unexpected turn, which seems to make a happy ending impossible at first. Although the plot development that leads to a solution is not very unpredictable, it is worked out well by the author. I wanted to keep reading to know how things would unfold and that brought me some well-written action scenes, some heart wrenches and a sweet and lovely happily ever after for Evin and Mason.

Overall, Bloodlines was a highly entertaining and sexy read. Although the protags' relationship suffered a bit from insta-love, it was saved by their wonderful chemistry and believable emotions. If you're looking for an erotic, yet romantic, read with quite some smexy scenes that never become repetitive in their descriptions, mingled with some beautiful wolf shifter action and an entertaining story that is mainly concentrated on the building relationship between two hot men, then I can certainly recommend this book.

Evin KinKaid is a wolf shifter, the son of the pack Alpha, and also a deeply closeted gay man. The woman that's been chosen to be his mate is more than ready to become his queen and when she pushes to consummate their relationship he has no choice but to come clean with her. Before the night is over Evin finds himself an outcast, banned from his home and pack. He finally settles down in a small town and finds work as a car mechanic.

Mason Thorne is on his way home when his car breaks down and despite the inconvenience, the delay is a welcome respite from his regimented life. When he takes his car into the shop he meets Evin and sparks fly as the men are instantly attracted to each other. Luckily for them there's a delay in the part coming in and they spend the next few days together. Things heat up between them, and feelings quickly develop, but can anything real happen between a shifter and a human? A near tragedy brings about major changes in their relationship and soon Evin finds himself turning to an unexpected source for help. Will his past be the key to a happy future or will he once again find himself a pawn in pack politics?

I really liked both Evin and Mason. Both have grown up in the shadow of dominant, controlling fathers and have spent their lives trying to earn the love and respect of their fathers. I found both men interesting and likable and enjoyed their interactions. The shared family issues added a nice layer to their relationship as each was able to relate to the other. The sex scenes are plentiful and very hot but never to the point of overpowering the story. I also liked the slightly unique take on the dynamics of a shifter pack that the author was able to place in this story.

While the story borders a bit on insta-love the paranormal theme made it work in the end. There is a nice mix of supporting characters, some of which were easier to like than others. I did have a slight niggle with the ending which felt a bit too convenient but even that worked well for the storyline. There is some angst in the story as well especially towards the end when Evin is forced to make a difficult decision in order to save Mason. This is the first book I've read by this author, and from what I was able to find it's her first M/M story, and I'm looking forward to reading more from Ms. Lee in the future.

Overall I found this paranormal story entertaining, well-written and smoking hot. Fans of the author and those who like shifter romance stories may enjoy reading Bloodlines.

Sometimes I get into a reading funk and if I don’t read the right kind of book for that moment the chances of me enjoying it will be slim to none. Bloodlines was exactly what I needed and I loved it!

Evin is the son of his pack’s Alpha and very soon he will have to mate with a woman promised to him and take over as the pack’s leader. The only problem is that Evin is gay and he refuses to mate with the woman he is supposed to, for that reason his father banishes him from the pack.

Cut to an year later and we meet Mason, son of one of the most powerful families in the U.S., he lives the life his father has chosen for him and has to smother his passion for music and hide his romantic preferences.

I love M/M romance, specially the paranormal kind hehe. Bloodlines has set itself apart for me because both heros are not confused about their sexuality like most M/M heroes are (at least one of them usually is). They both know they are gay, but they have to deal with how their sexuality affects their lives and go through many obstacles so they can be together.

Bloodlines is a great short read that I went through in just a few hours! It left me wanting more and it was full of goodness. Two HAWT heroes, shifters, conflicts and HOT Smex, what more could I ask for?! If you enjoy M/M Romance, I totally recommend this book for you! =D

Katie, BookingIt--"Holy-freakin’-werewolf, y’all need to read this novella!

Although the story is a little over a hundred pages, Evin and Mason both are multi-dimensional characters with pasts, motivations, and yearnings. The relationship happens fast, but is extremely likable and somewhat believable, not to mention hot with a capital H.

The plot is the relationship, but there is conflict, mainly stemming from Evin being a werewolf and how each have controlling fathers. I kept turning the pages faster and faster, wanting to know how Evin and Mason finally come to have their happily-ever-after. Unfortunately, the book ends (as what books do), but I wanted more!

Bloodlines is probably the best male/male romance I have read to date. Simply perfect!" BookingIt Grade: A+!

AlexJouJou, Manic Readers--"Although this is a novella you will not even realize it when reading. For a shorter novel the characters retain a wealth of personality and individuality that makes them sear into your heart. The battle each one faces provides just the right amount of conflict to keep you completely vested and reading on until the clever conclusion has been read. The relationship between Evin and Mason is exceptionally well developed—with depth, emotion, and enough life that you come to love both of these men. The prose flows and there is no ebb—it is solid throughout. The paranormal world is done very well—equally told and shown and not lacking any depth in spite of the fact that the knowledge you gain is fairly superficial on many levels.

I would like a sequel for Evin’s sister who has completely charmed me with her devotion to her twin Evin. This is an author to watch and put on your must buy list." 4.5 stars!

Sharon, Romance Writers Reviews--"A wonderful shape shifter novella. Evin and Mason are very well developed characters for a short story. For a male/male romance I would say this is one hot, sexy, steamy books I have read in a long time. Jessica Lee captures such a loving touch to this storyline. As with all books, it has many twists, turns and secrets. Blooklines is a real page turner that you don't want to put down. My only thing is that it is too short. Perhpas she will do a sequel to it." 5 Stars!

I absolutely adored this!! Its been a while since I've read a great shifter story, but Bloodlines easily took care of that break. Both Evin and Mason were to die for. I loved their romance, and their relationship. Although, the one thing that took precedence above all else was the easy flow to the plot-line. Everything was accordingly executed and there wasn't one page that didn't leave me dying to read more. In addition to all that, the secondary characters, no matter how minor their roles, were brilliant additions to further the plot, and to add a dynamic to the story. Jessica Lee's work is definitely worth while and I am looking forward to knowing more of what she has to present. :D

It seems I have to kiss a lot of frogs to get to a prince. This is a prince of a shifter book. I never got bored and had to sim. The characters came to life for me almost instantly and I fell in love with them. The rhythm never wavered. The story could have had a little more emotional conflict so that it got me more invested. The sex scenes were pretty hot; not scorching, but hot.  All in all the author is very gifted, kept me engaged to the poi t that I had to finish the book, not putting it down until I did. I enjoyed the read.

Wow, I just loved this book. The sexy factor was through the roof. Evin's been kicked-out of his pack for being gay and refusing to mate with a girl. When he meets Mason there is instant connection.

Prepare to fan yourself repeatedly. Evin is super sexy with his dirty but sweet talk.

A solid shifter book with an interesting take on werewolves. I liked the chemistry between the MC's Evin and Mason. A bit sketchy on the details of what happens with Mason's family but I enjoyed the story and will check out the others in the series.

Although I thought this was a good idea for a story it was lacking in plot details . It seems that things happen too quickly. The characters fall in love instantly and Mason doesn’t stay upset with Evan for any time at all after he discovers what he has done to him.

Heat Rising is book three in the KinKaid Wolf Pack sequence and should be read in release date order for historical content.

Rosa KinKaid, twin sister to the Alpha, is going into her shifter heat for the first time and she is determined to handle it on her own. However, things are not going according to plan because for as long as she can remember, Rosa has been secretly lusting after the pack enforcers, Kaleb Dalton and Landry Michaels. How could she choose either Kaleb or Landry as her mate when she wanted them both? Rosa has to pick one because time is quickly running out. Either she selects her mate soon or the heat would do it for her.

Kaleb and Landry are the best of friends. They play and work hard together as enforcers for the KinKaid pack. Both men are keeping secrets – their love for one another and their love for Rosa KinKaid. Will their hidden desires come to light with the rise of Rosa’s heat? Will a triad relationship work among them?

Wow! Heat Rising is the perfect title for this triangle love affair. The chemistry between the three is explosive and off the charts. The plot is filled with non-stop action and a mystery that will straighten your spine and keep you guessing until the very end. I really like the unbreakable friendship between Kaleb and Landry and the special intimate bond that evolves with Rosa. Whether as a threesome or a twosome the sexual encounters are deliciously wicked and very naughty in nature. I found Heat Rising to be a wonderful finale to a fantastic trilogy. Kudos to Ms. Lee!

Evin is the alpha prime for his wolf pack. His father is the alpha. Evin has been friends with Jocelyn and their families are the two highest ranking families in the pack. She is due to be made Evin's mate and Queen when the shift of power takes place the morning after their mating. What happens when Jocelyn tries to take Evin home to have sex, even though they are not yet mated or bonded? What happens to Evin after that? What does his father do when Jocelyn goes running to him, telling Evin he is going to regret something he has done? Things really do take a very interesting turn at that point. Next we see Evin working in an auto shop. Mason comes in with his car after swerving to avoid an animal on the road and then losing control of his car. What happens when they meet? Who is Mason? They certainly become fast friends. What happens one night when they're out hanging around, riding on a motorcycle? What happens to Evin? More importantly, what happens to Mason? When Evin takes Mason with him back to his father and his pack, what does he ask of his father for Mason's sake? What do we learn about everything when Evin cedes to his father's demands? Read this story and find out. This was a very interesting start to this series!

Evin just wanted to be happy, but being the Alpha's son in order to take his father's place one day he would have to make and produce an heir. The problem? He has no desire for his intended or any other female for that matter. And when the truth comes crashing out he is banished from his pack.

Mason just wants to be free but with his father's wishes always crammed down his throat he is forced to play the dutiful son. Crashing his car in a remote town brings him face to face with Evin and from there everything changes for the both of them.

In a world with wolf shifters the story is brought to life through the characters eyes.

These story switches POVs between both of the main characters and you see each of their desires and hopes throughout. You have no choice but to fall in love with both these guys and want nothing more than to see them get their HEA.

I previously read book 4 in this series and enjoyed it so much I had to go back and start at the beginning and I am definitely glad I did this was a very enjoyable and hot read the only thing I wish is that it would have been longer!

Heated but too quick wolf shifter gay shifter "romance"

The character and plot ideas were nicely interesting and intriguing, and some of the intimate connections were nicely sizzling, but overall the heat seemed better executed than the relationship or story. The initial attraction of the pair moved very, very quickly through to an extremely deep connection, in a way similar to an "instant mate" trope without the benefit of that plot device. Still, the story and relationship elements that were present were enticing, and the physical intimacy was nicely heated.

Overall it was a nice, explicit male/male shifter novella with enough glimpses of story and relationship elements to make the heat a bit more compelling. A quick romantic erotica read that may be a bit of a set-up for additional installments.

This was a fun, quick, and very hot read. While the plot is deceptively simple, there was enough variation on "the usual" theme for me to make it interesting. I have to say that I hated Evin for the decision he made, even though he did it to protect Mason. It may have been in line with his character (sort of), but it was still wrong on a very fundamental level. Especially for something that calls itself a romance!

Thank God for the slight twist at the end - without that I would have been thoroughly disgusted. With it, though, I was happy to relax into the last few pages of the book.

3.5 stars - This was a pretty quick and easy read for me. I started off loving it, but it did seem to lose some of it's momentum about a third of the way through. It was enjoyable enough, but I kind of skipped pages here and there to get to the good parts. I did really like Mason and Evin, though, and they were definitely hot together! The story was interesting and it was a fairly nice paranormal romance, I just wish it had been longer and that certain parts -like the action and the whole alpha, mating and werewolf lifestyle parts - had been developed more.

The premise tho. I felt like this could be something fun, stupid and different. Different being the main drive that made me actually open it. I don't know what made me assume that one of the hot human chicks being changed into a hot male dude would make the story fun is beyond me. And the sex scenes were pretty purple prose bad. Since the plot is the basic, ran into other side of the Earth premise that plays in every werewolf romance, I feel like at least more effort should have been put into the porn part.
