This is my go-to book anytime I'm analyzing a solar return chart. She makes this process so straightforward and explains planetary placements, aspects and other factors very clearly. Her approach is very psychoanalytical and focused on using solar returns as a tool for personal growth, which is in alignment with my own philosophy on astrology.

Mary Shea's book on solar returns is really the best one on the market. I wouldn't refer to this book as a "cookbook," like a previous reviewer did. Cookbook-style interpretations are extremely short and abrupt. Ms. Shea doesn't treat her subject matter like that at all. She gives it great depth of meaning, and you'll have no trouble deciphering exactly what a solar return is all about!

Incredibly useful for professional astrologers & cookbook DIY astro enthusiasts alike. Most of the interpretations are pretty accurate. There are some terribly dated ideas about non-traditional sexualities which can be ignored as somewhat old-fashioned.
