This book was so... sexy. I really love Shawn & Tristan and how their relationship was built up. The stuff with Jacob was a bit strange and I was really worried there at the end but thankfully things didn't turn out as bad as I thought they would.

Wonderful Story!

This has got to be one of the best series of books talking about life and emotions, challenges, and struggles that teens and we all face. I am hooked on this author's writing and hope to read more. The story brings you ringside Into the world of these high school kids. It could be any place in the world. Reding them brings me back to my younger years and the issues I faced and that doesn't have to do with just what sexuality you are. It's like reading a page of history. We all worried about acceptance, jobs, and our friends and saw many in school as extended family. So many points in this story were life for many, that these books will live years forward.

Just finished this and gotta say... Mark's done it again.

Another good story with interesting characters that I care about. Perhaps its just that we share a geographic bent (I grew up a gay boy in a semi-rural area in the midwest - - Though I was a few years ahead of these guys in school.)

There are some common themes in all of Mark's books and he's a better storyteller than he is writer sometimes but I still enjoy everything he writes and want to gobble up his books like peanuts. Also he's getting to be a better writer with every book. I recently started The Soccer Field is Empty (again for the umpteenth time) and noticed how much his writing has improved since then. I sometimes wish that his characters wouldn't dwell on an issue over and over. In reading it, it seems like repetition but its actually more like what happens in real life.

Being an eldest brother I particularly liked Shawn and Tim's relationship in this book. Personally though, I was kinda pulling for Shawn and Marc's relationship to surprise us, but as it was, it was still enjoyable. Still wanna see somebody take the piss outta Blake though.

Good, but a it felt like it took a little too long getting to the ghost part, then it was over in a flash.

This one was waaaay better about not droning on and on (and on and on) about miniscule details about every teeny little thing though the characcters encounter though, like the color of the walls, the texture of the drape, blah, blah, blah, for which I was extremely thankful. : )

The saga continues, focused on Dane & Tim and Shawn & Tristan, with Jacob the ghost for suspense. The pace is rather slow, again reading more like a romantic chronicle than a thriller. The young gay characters are interesting as they mature and the sexual tensions feel real, if the community acceptance still feels more like a fantasy.
