To my delight, I found Silver Frost had an early release, and immediately bought it this morning! I could not put this book down. While the previous Frost books were more fairy tale, this one gives an epic feel. Breena is now Queen, and she must mature quickly. Within her own court, she is in danger. She has matured in her wisdom and magic. Now she must learn to use it. Bitter Frost sets up the background to the Frost Series by introducing Breena and Feyland. Forever Frost sets up Breena to become Queen. Now in Silver Frost, she is Queen, and it is not what she expects. I loved Forever Frost, but Silver Frost is epic. Twists and turns, new characters and creatures. Logan is amazing. I love learning more about him in Silver Frost. The Rodney and Shasta relationship has its complications. Kian is a mystery, but I still love him. There are a lot of mystery and clues in this book. Silver is the color of fairy blood. Gow continues to build the world of Feyland in Silver Frost, and now I can't wait for more books in this series.
I am elated to say I really loved SLIVER FROST, the third book of the frost series. I have to admit I was underwhelmed by the first two books, enjoying the characters, but feeling the overall writing lacked the maturity and depth to truly captivate me (to be fair, the target reader is quite a bit my junior). Not true with SILVER FROST!.. where in Gow does an excellent job enchanting the reader with a much more sophisticated touch. The story continues with a strong plot that picks up right where it left off in FOREVER FROST. I was delighted to find Logan (my favorite character) once more playing a stronger role in the the storyline. There is quite a bit of danger, tragic love, sacrifice, betrayal and deception in this installment; and I commend Gow on navigating the plot twist and turns in such a way that is not only believable in the context of this tale but also emotionally riveting... I can not wait for my pre-ordered copy of book 4, FROST KISSES to arrive!
OMG!!!!!!! THE FUCKING END????!!!! what just happened bree & kian were supposed to be together atlast!!! ugh!!! srsly?? and the end all of the books in this series end at a cliffhanger!!
Considering I waited quite some time in between reading the first three books in the series. I would say that I did okay remembering things. I was worried towards the end with how things were going. However, seeing as how it ended abruptly at the end with a cliffhanger I will have to wait and read the next one. I just hope things will go the way I want. If not at least the books are short and don't take up too much time.
OMG...this series just keeps getting better! I absolutly love this series. In this one Breena is more mature and more in control of her magic. She is now Queen of Summer Court and still in love with the gorgeous Kian. While dealing with issues with her people in the Summer Court she also has to deal with the Winter Court Queen that does not approve of her relationship with Kian. Then there is her best friend Logan who becomes part of a love triangle between her and Kian. I like Logan, he's a great friend to her but I think Kian is the one truely for Breena. Along with all that is going on there is the situation/relationship with Kian's sister Shasta and the Summer Knight Rodney. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading this on my Kindle. The ending was a huge cliffhanger, I was like no it can't end yet! Now I can't wait to read Frost Kisses. Oh yeah and The Wolf Fey was just released on the Kindle, it's Logan story and is going to be a new series that is going to go along with The Frost Series. So exciting, I love reading Kailn's books.
Kailin Gow out does herself every time, i havent quite read an auther like her who can manipulate such simple words and actions.
EVERYTIME too.
Its truely amazing reading one of her books. no matter what your age, you will fall deeply in love with her novels. theres a home, a character in each of her books for everyone that you will connect with.
The most important factor in this novel is the detail. The chapters are so embellished,& elaborate, that the actions speak in volume. Utterly surprised at every devilish spin she adds to the story you wont be able to set this book down. Pay close attention to everything, as i sit here and think about what just happened, i realize that the begginning of the story completely ties into the end. the middle is the string that holds everything together adding more fear for the reader to find out what happens. Every Chapter is more alluring then the last, and the last chapters will be mind blowing.
What are you waiting for? pick it up and read it !
Ok, so I'm not a big curser, but.... WTF? WTF! WTF? WWWWTTTTTFFFFF!!!???? I am just so beyond pissed. I don't care for love triangles to begin with, but I am even more outraged when an outcome of a story is made by screwing with a characters mind by a spell.
I'm mainly enraged over not being clear on if that character had sex with the person they were under the spell with. That, in my book, is just wrong. It's basically the same thing as having been given the date rape drug IMO. Also, what’s with no one being reasonable and understanding??
Again, Seriously? WTF??!

YA Fantasy Classic! Read this series when it first came out. Now binged! Still so magical. I love the world the author created so much. Bree, Kian, and Logan are the best love triangle I've read. So hard to choose!
Silver Frost surpasses Bitter Frost and Forever Frost. With each book, the series gets better. The world-building of Feyland is lush throughout Silver Frost, and you get the sense of Feyland. Breena and Logan travels through Feyland, encountering some of the creatures who are now Breena's deadly subjects. Breena, now Queen, continues the quest of her father's. She's also disguised as a knight, handy with her sword and magic. Through this quest with Logan, she is brave and honorable. Then when she finds who she's looking for, she does the most amazing thing. There were times in Silver Frost where I felt my eyes teared up. Each character is strong and honorable in their own ways. Logan is so awesome. I want to know more about his clan in Feyland. I want to know more about the court life within Breena's kingdom. As the description says, Silver Frost is the pivotal book in the series. It is as if we are growing up with Breena, going along this journey of hers. Not going to spoil anything for the rest of you, but I swoon twice when Breena was proposed to twice. What an ending. Not a cliffhanger, but incredible.
I'm not sure what to make of this series. I have liked it well enough so far, but I keep having that feeling like things are being rushed, that its too fast (which is a change from a novel that is dragging on and on). There was some nice twists and turns at the end followed by yet another cliffhanger.
I'm not a fan of love triangles. At all. I always feel bad for the one that is left pining and I have a feeling that Logan will never win. But, the series isn't over yet. I hope to see this resolved.
I totaly loved being back in Brenna's world again and really enjoyed the whole book from the start and held me all the way to the OMG did that really happen ending. I really can't belive i have to wait til march to find out what happens next.
Have to stay still team Kian but Logan is a great friend to Brenna even tho he wants more.A must read series for any YA fey fan =)
Meh, I liked the storyline. But I got super annoyed about the "romances" in the book and the intention of it. I am stopping here and not I am not reading the rest of the series.
Silver Frost is the third book in the Frost series by Kailin Gow. This time around we are back in Feyland and with the Summer Queen dead Breena is crowned the new Summer Queen. Although she is unsure if she can trust the previous queen's advisor's they are acting strange around her. Breena must come up with a plan to stop the war between the Winter and Summer court once and for all and she isn't sure who to turn to for help.
I loved this book! The plot and character development was much better than in the previous two books in this series. We also got to see more of the Winter Court and it's royal family and get to know them a bit better, which I really enjoyed. There is of course that crazy love triangle going on as with the previous books, and the situation only getting better and more juicier as the series goes on. Logan is starting to grow on me, and I really feel for him. But I still love Kian and believe he and Breena should be together.
The book is fast paced and action packed, which I like in my books. It makes is easier to get enthralled in the story and forget the world going on around you. Silver Frost is no exception to that, I was truly swept into a different world with this book and read it in one sitting as I just couldn't bear to pull myself away from the story.
With each new book, this series just gets better and better! This book was the turn around book in the series, up till this point the books were good but this one was great! It really pulled me in and made me feel like I knew and understood the characters better. The ending left me completely gob-smacked, I literally was screaming at my Kindle and could not believe what I was reading! I can't wait to see what the rest of this series brings!
My goodness! I did not see that cliffhanger coming! Kian really stabbed Breena with his dagger. I know he endured great pain and suffering at the realization that he lost Breena to Logan, nonsensical as it was, but I did not truly believe that he would hurt Breena. Love is a dangerous thing in Feyland, as Kailin Gow has clearly portrayed in the third installment of The Frost Series. Extreme fairy passion turned into bitter blue hatred is absolutely lethal!
I was shocked at how easily Breena forgot Kian, and when she announced her love and engagement to Logan, I was so angry at her. I knew something was not right the moment she drank that heavy wine with Logan, and even though it registered that she and Logan were under some horrible spell, I was still upset with Breena for allowing that to happen. After all, "All Hail the Summer Queen!" Right?
Obviously, I am Team Kian all the way! All those nights she spent with Logan-UGHH! My heart aches for Kian, drowning in his ice blue melancholy misery, despising himself for ever letting his one true love leave, fading away from his heart, mind and soul. Oh, how my heart ached! *big sigh*
I cannot wait for March 2011! Thank God it is only two months away! Kailin really provided the "Wow!" factor in this one. What an incredible read!

WOW!! The end was soooooooooooooo Shocking!! I was like WHAT??? I loved this book for many reasons. One reason being is that I loved how it kept my guessing to the end so crazy! Usually I can predict the end halfway through, but not this one!! I loved how there were many many sweet moments and how both Kian, and Logan would do anything for Breena and how she loves them both and still does but is torn between the two of them. Shasta Kian's sister is somewhat hilarious in this book. At one moment I wanted to kick or smack or and the next moment I wanted to laugh along with her. Shasta really is a fun character. I really liked the Winter Queen in this book she really showed a more empathetic but kept her diplomatic side at the same time which was good. I also enjoyed learning more about Rodney another one of my favorite characters. I loved how Kailin Gow went into more details about Feyland. In other stories Pixies are described not so hideous but in Gow's eyes she thinks or writes them as hideous. I really thought that both kingdoms could finally establish peace, but not when all Hell brakes loose at the end and both kingdoms are once again enemies!! I can't wait to go read Frost Kisses.

OK...I read this book in 3 1/2 hours because it was that good. It kept me on the edge of my seat with the twists and turns throughout the story. I have fallen in love with this series and I cannot wait til Frost Kisses comes out. Throughout this book I felt all of the emotions Breena experienced. I felt her love and pain and pretty much agreed with her on the decisions she made up til the last few chapters of the book. Since I am so emotionally vested in these books, I became physically sick with what transpired in the last few chapters. I am not going to give anything away, but I am not happy. Lets just say that Breena was not with the person I want her to be with and I feel so strongly about this relationship that it killed me to read it. But, when I thought it was going to turn around, that is when our fabulous author Kailin Gow decided to end the book with a cliffhanger that I am still reeling from. (UGH!!!! *sighing*....catching my breath now...) So, needless to say that when Frost Kisses comes out I will be diving in to it to find out if my two lovers make it back in to each others arms... Another great book by Kailin!!
Synopsis:"Breena, the beautiful half fairy, half human princess from Oregon, has ascended to her rightful place in Feyland, as Queen of the Summer Kingdom. My Review: Well I am going to have a hard time getting through this review, about as much as I did getting through the book. Its a shame because there is just so much potential there but the characters just drive me batty. I swear the MC, Breena, is bi-polar or something, she gives me whip lash with her crazy moods and ideas. All through the book it talks about how mature she is and how she wants to be a good leader and dedicates every thing she has to the people, but no matter how much it is said in the book, more than half she is just a selfish brat who only thinks of herself and her love for Kian. Gow has even done away with most of the subcharacters that I liked in the last book, which was really my only hope for enjoying the rest of the series. I hate to give such a bad review but there are just too many flaws for me to look past.
3.5 stars The series is definitely getting better More different and distinguishable from other novels featuring the Fey Much to my disappointment the love triangle didn't end in the last book, and has indeed become more freaking complicated than ever **sigh** why is it always so hard.
I have to say though, I just can't stand the whole idea of enchanting someone to love someone else, frankly it's the easy way out, yes, it does create a lot of conflict and confusion in a book but it's darn annoying and bound to break apart and shatter into a bajilion pieces
I really enjoyed some if the ideas/ complications in Silver Frost they were different and entertaining though once again, far too brief. These mini-attacks (see review of Forever Frost ) are seriously tiring me out. Kailin Gow has some seriously good ideas but I think she's packing too many into one book, I reckon she should use less but expand on them, create an entire story behind the idea
CHARACTERS || Slowly losing interest. Breena is torn between kingdom and love. If I were her I'd choose the former, but it's up to you to find out what really happened.
WRITING || Again with the cliff-hangers, will they ever stop? Oh yeah, I might be late in saying this but if you're not a fan of Wicked Lovely and the likes, then this isn't the book for you. It's similarity is alarming but in my opinion, I like the writing better here. And that is from a non-biased perspective. If it were otherwise, I'd say I like Wicked Lovely better because I read it first. Muahaha!
OVERALL || Again, skipped the whole intro. It's just a retelling of the story and I get bored with it (since I read it as soon as I finish reading the sequel).
Breena is now the queen of the Summer Court and she has a lot of responsibilities on her hands. She can't choose between Kian and Logan. There are so many problems that she has for example the war between the Winter and Summer courts. She needs to find a way to resolve all of the problems.
The message of this book is that having a lot of responsibilities is a great hardship for anyone. It is very important to make sure you don't crack under pressure, and you have the skills to be patient with many things.
This was very interesting and I loved all of the action in the book. I wish these books were longer and I hope a new book is coming out soon. People who like fairies should definitely read this book!
All I can say is wow!!!! This book has left me speechless and I am still reeling from the ending. It is a good thing that I have the next book in the series or I would be devastated right now. I love this series and I am worried to start the fourth book because the fifth doesnt come out till November and if the ending is like this one I will just freak out. I hate when you have to wait months upon months for the next book in a series when it ends with a cliff hanger. Oh well I guess I will just have to suck it up and read this one because I will not be able to wait until later to find out what happens. So stay tuned and I will let you know how crazy I am in the next review of this series.
