[Siren Classic ManLove: Erotic Alternative Paranormal Romance, Vampires, Demons]
Remus Marius, a demon warrior, grew up knowing he had the full love and support of his family. It defined who he was. Discovering his mate, Noah, on a mission to rescue kidnapped vampires, he finds that he will need everything he learned growing up to convince Noah he's worth the love Remus wants to give him.
Noah Dragos always knew he was a huge disappointment to his family. He wasn't a warrior like his father and brothers. He wasn't even a good vampire. Hidden away and ignored by his family, Noah learned not to rely on anyone. When he's kidnapped by demons, he knows no one will care.
Being rescued by Remus and mated to him, Noah has to decide if he's willing to drag his mate into the hell he's lived in his entire life or let Remus find someone more deserving of being a warrior's mate.
I'm very disappointed in this book. The characters were flat and all spoke with such formality it was getting annoying. Not only that, but the author literally copies entire paragraphs from the first book and pasted them in this one. And it seemed the like answer to everything in this book was sex. "Oh, your father tried to kill you? Let's go have sex." "Oh, you're having traumatizing nightmares? A good round of sex should clear that up!"
I really enjoyed this second story in the series as much as the first. I had hoped for more "explosive" relationships as the series develops, and it looks as if it's going to happen.
I thought that Noah was a very lovable character. He has endured an enormous amount of mistreatment from his family, been through a gruelling kidnapping, and is still full of life. He tends to be more concerned about others than himself.
His mate, the warrior Remus, is determined to give Noah a better life, even if Noah seems to have trouble opening up emotionally. When he finally does, their relationship can grow.
Even though the recognition that they were mates was instantaneous, it was less difficult to believe that these two would get along than the pair in the first volume. This story was more focused around battling external obstacles and the past.
Noah has been despised by his father, Abraham, all of his life. The only son not born a warrior, Abraham forbid his staff to report that Noah was kidnapped by demons. Noah thought he would die at the hands of the demons. But Noah and 11 others are rescued by Remus, Victor and Caleb. Happy to have found his mate but knowing what his father was capable of, both Noah and Remus must fight for not only their love but their lives.
I enjoyed this next addition to the Marius Brothers Series. I loved Victor and his mean streak. Noah was one freaky, frisky and funny mate. I also liked that the core family was seen through out this book, building a stronger background. Even I was shocked just a little when Remus's mother cussed.
I am looking forward to Joyee's next installment, is it Victor or Caleb next? mmmm....... I will have to check her website. :-)
Another that was okay but again the sweet factor was just too much for me. Going to shelf the rest for a bit until I'm in the mood for something more sappy.
I really enjoyed this book. I thought Noah was adorable. He went through so much and still was so loving and happy. Remus was the perfect alpha male. Mean and tough but so soft and cuddly with his mate. Sex was explosive. I thought more could have come with the plot line and there was a lot of sex compared to plot. I still loved it for a lite read.
After reading Joyee Flynn’s first Marius brother’s story—Micah—I knew that I wanted to keep up with the series. Vampire warriors? Falling in love with other men? What’s not to love? In my world, nothing.
One of the things I’m enjoying most about the series is the connection between the members of the Marius family. After Micah’s story I was impressed, but now having read Remus and Noah’s story I’m completely enamoured of the whole clan, in-laws and out-laws.
I especially love how they are so quick to take to heart, and into the family, the ones that their sons love and, in turn, any family that their son’s mate may have. This is what family is all about. Of course it doesn’t hurt that these big strong warriors, when it comes to their mate, are little more than putty in their lover’s hands… nice to see the big, tough guys fall so deeply into love that they’re more than happy to open themselves up completely. Definitely romantic…and—hooboy—sexy as all get out to boot. Yummy.
There were a couple of small instances where I felt that the action had been rushed a bit; I don’t want to go into details so as not to add any spoilers, but something would happen that just seemed to come out of nowhere. Maybe it was meant to be that way—it could very well have been—but I found it a little…too convenient and too…premature? I’m not sure…but it’s not a big thing. In any event, the characters rescued the story. I also enjoyed the continued presence of Micah and his mate Riley. I love the continuation of characters and I can hardly wait to see how Ms. Flynn brings back Remus and Noah in the next book. Which, I just discovered, is already out!
If you love vampire stories, or hot men finding their mate and the ensuing steamy sex or if you’re just a fan of Joyee Flynn then I strongly suggest you find yourself a couple of Marius brothers’ stories with which to while away a few hours: Micah and Remus will certainly provide you with plenty of enjoyment.
This is the second book in the Marius Brothers series which follows Remus and Noah and I felt like this book fell short for me compared to the first one. The book was filled with with action from the start to end which is unusual for a shifter romance. Well at least it was unusual from what shifter books I have read. That obviously wasn't what I didn't like about the book otherwise I would have gave it 5 stars, it was the characters that I didn't like, mainly Noah.
I liked Remus from the start, it might have had something to do with his name (Harry Potter reference) but it think how he handled and helped Noah after his supposedly traumatic experience mad me fall in love with the big, gentle giant. I liked Noah at the start of the book mainly because I felt sorry for him but the more I read the more I realised that he was just a drama queen. Or would he be a drama king? Anyway he was someone who was overly dramatic. I am really trying not to sound like an unsympathetic douche because I understand that Noah had been through a lot but I just didn't like him.
OK, so there was a lot of sex and I mean a LOT! I'm pretty sure that they had sex 6 times in one day. Like seriously, that's not realistic at all, even for a vampire. It got to the point that I had to start skipping the sex scenes because I was getting so bored with the book. Now, I'm totally fine with insta-love just as long as the author can pull it off properly so I was totally fine with that aspect of the book but it was when they said they loved each other for the first time that really confused me because normally that's a big and they just kind of play it off as if it happened everyday. If you're one of those people that get angry over me telling you that the main characters of a romance book tell each other that they love one another, then get over it, its a romance book, its kind of granted.
Let me start by saying that I have already read the majority of the books in this series and was following it for a long time. I lost track of it and realized recently that I had about 4 new books in the Marius World Series to read. But it has been a long time since I read some of them, and I couldn't really remember much of the overarching plot. I also hadn't read much of the "Beyond the Marius Brothers" stories and never even added the ones I read onto Goodreads. I decided to take up the challenge of re-reading all the books (21 so far) in this series chronologically and writing a few thoughts on each. So I will set new dates to the "read date" section as I go along.
Remus was not as appealing to me as the previous book in the series. I thought they had WAY too much sex, which was every couple of pages. And since I am reading them back-to-back I noticed that most of the "explanation" paragraphs are a copy-paste from the previous book. I wish the author at least tried to explain it in different words.
Noah character was one I found hard to believe in. He was unloved and ignored for most of his life, when he finally escapes, it is so short lived, and then he is tortured during his time with the demons. After he is rescued, he is this bright bubbly person!. Where are the signs of PTSD?! or at the very least a Nightmare?!
Anyway, I wasnt much of a fan of the plot either, it was over the top, and now that I know that Issac gets a book of his own (which I didnt the first time I read this book), I am astounded that Joyee Flynn made him a main character. He seems quite awful.
The reason for my low rating is based on a few things including a pet peeve of mine. There was many editing issues. The biggest mistakes include names that were mixed up or completely changed. Near the end of the book the bad guy got a new name during a whole chapter while in the next his name kept changing from his original name to his new one. It was extremely distracting, because for a while I had no idea who the characters where talking about.
Then there was the issue with the emotional reality expectation. For all the things that happened that caused your heart to ache there was very little explored emotional connection/development. The only way I can describe it has the set up/back story had all the potential to cause anyone to cry but was so... smoothed over with band aids and sappy fluff that it just didn't make sense in reality. I mean, with all the emotional scarring you would think there was more side effects that would have presented itself in the character.
Furthermore there was time line issues that was a distraction. Not only that, but it seems everything was fixed with a hot round of sex. I have never seen physical connecting to fix emotional distress overused like in this book. I just wish that there was more development on the plot.
Finally, other then the issue with this book... it was a pleasant read. It was a short story that was satisfying with the potential for a 4 star rating if the problems in this book was fixed. There was a lot of fluffy even with the traumatic events. Again it was only because several pet peeves of mine that are in this book that I just couldn't give this book a better rating. Which is sad because this book as so much going for it.
In the second book of the Marius Brothers, the story takes us through a romantic adventure about past pain and pleasure. As the only son who wasn’t born a warrior, Noah was raised by the servant of the house. His father despised him all of his life and kept him locked away from his brothers.
When Remus rescues Noah after being kidnapped by demons, their relationship quickly picks up. Although things tend to go from bad to worst after they mated, the dramatic action and smoking hot sex were enough to keep me interested.
This is a fast-paced book that will keep readers scrolling through the pages. The heart aching back-story sets an emotional tone throughout the book. If you’re a fan of sexy vampire romance with a heartwarming love story, then you’ll enjoy this book.
Warnings: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language and m/m elements.
We met Remus in book 1 and I liked him for standing up for his brother and his mate so I was eager to read this one. We are not disappointed and when Remus finds his mate is a Dragos, a family known for its bigoted views on all things gay and remotely human, you know there is going to be fireworks. Again w are not left hanging, the fireworks start right from the off. Noah is sweet and really loveable and I have to say I was left reaching for the painkillers when he is taken in to the garage. wont say more then that because I don't like to add spoilers and if I say more then that it would spoil it. I will admit that this series has me hooked I love the fire and the machinations of the older members of the Dragos family and I look forward to seeing them fall further from grace as the series progresses.
I really enjoyed this instalment in this series as much as I enjoyed this first.
This instalment starts with Remus along with one of his brother and three others rescuing twelve hostages from demons only to find that one of them is his mate. Noah is a very loveable character who is full of life even after all the things in his life he has been through, which includes being mistreated by his father and then kidnaped. If that wasn't enough he gets kidnaped again, only this time it is by his own brother who then rips out his fangs.
Even after all of this both Noah and Remus are able to find love and happiness, and have a little fun in the bedroom.
I am looking forward to reading the next instalment.
Ms Flynn's second book in the Marius Brothers series is even better than her first. The plot is more closely knit and the conversations between characters flows much smoother. Remus Marius is a big, hulking gay warrior on a mission with his team to retrieve any survivors from a demon nest. The team rescues twelve vampires who are just hanging onto life. Once the survivors are safely at Riley's hospital, Remus recognizes one of the men as his mate. The diminutive Noah Dragos knows that Remus is his mate also but doesn't think himself worthy. Pick up the book and find out the rest of Remus and Noah's story, you won't be disappointed.
typical joyee flynn serial romance. nothing fantastic, nothing so bad it can't be finished. what is typical joyee flynn? imagine a shorter harlequin romance but with no t&a (see, i was going to write no surprise pregnancies, but... yeah.).
out of sheer laziness, i will be using this as my template for all books by : joyee flynn sunny day lynn hagen stormy glenn scarlett hyacinth carol lynne gabrielle evans
unless otherwise noted. i'd apologize, but i'm not sorry. i figure it's about as much time as they put into their books. dammit! well, i made it all the way to the end being rather moderate in my assessment. that's a win
It was cute and funny at times and down right redundant at others. The story line had a lot of potential to become a truly amazing page turner! My issue is that Joyee used sex to downplay every situation! It got to the point where i was just skipping over the sex to find out what will happen next. Plus the sex was just blah to me. It just seemed like it was missing something. The characters were bland and there was not much to connect to. Yes i knew what the issues were but i couldn't feel anything.
After reading the first book in this series, Micah, I was very much looking forward to following the Marius family in Book 2, I was not disappointed. If anything I was beyond pleased by this second book. Remus and Noah's story continues the Marius family story and left me ready for more in this series.
I didn't like this one as much as the first and I am not sure why. Maybe it was too much sex? Maybe it was because the sometimes I felt like I was reading the first book over again, especially the first couple of pages.
I did LOVE the tattoo ;) I wish we could have seen the reaction.
I am hoping to see more of Noah and Remus in the future when their lives aren't constantly in danger.
I really liked this one Noah was so sweet. The plot moved quickly but I didn't feel as if things were rushed or left out. Remus had great chemistry with his mate so that was great to read. I really enjoy reading Flynn's work can't wait to read the others.
