Dad Kamal has written some of the most resonating verse to come out of Pakistan. It is actually one of the dismal facts about Pakistani English that foreign Literature is more read in Pakistan than local writers in English. Some of it has to do with the fact that syllabus in Pakistani schools and universities date back from the colonial times. We expect our young ones to appreciate "The Daffodils", even though they wouldn't see ones blooming in the wayside as in England.
Another reason is perhaps the fact the tendency to buy pirated books for middle class teenagers rather than perhaps a library stocked with all the latest published books. Public libraries like book graveyards where nobody would borrow even the classics because of the NIC condition .
Resultantly, we cannot emote very well and turn to this present day religiosity. We have pretty much become caricatures of ourselves because we have abandoned art, literature and science.
