Rhonda Alendresis is a prison guard on a small planet. She and her captain have to go into the prison to the lower levels where the worst criminals are kept to repair the nuclear reactor, damage by an earthquake. They also discover that the entire planet will blow up at any time. They convicts get loose and they have to get back to the garrison and get themselves and the other guards off the planet. Though she and her Captain don’t usually get along well, they have to work together to get through this and survive. As they get closer, they find they like each other a lot more than they thought.

This is novel is an action packed sci-fi romance with sizzling love scenes. It’s a fun, suspenseful read that I highly recommend.

Rhonda, a prison guard on an icy detention planet, is recruited to assist her commanding officer when earthquakes threaten the security of their compound. What ensues is an action-packed romantic thriller with Rhonda and Cole trapped deep underground with violent prisoners of various species. Battling monstrous inmates, ongoing quakes, flooding, and debris, they stabilize the energy plant deep below the planet’s surface before starting their climb to safety. But will they reach their ship in time? The planet is on a collision course to explosion, and only one vessel remains to take the guards off world. Unfortunately, they’re not the only ones with that target in mind. Rhonda and Cole find more than they bargained for as they reach the higher levels. While a bit light on the romance, the tension of this story will keep you turning pages. The action sequences are superb.

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

This book gets 4.5 stars from me. It wasn't quite perfect for me, but it was darned close. I really loved it - and then a bit more. Vijaya creates really vivid characters, and I just adore the setting of this novel - a multi-level high-security prison embedded in the body of a planet. A fabulous concept and, for me, the story just got better from there. One of the best scifi romances I've read in the last couple of years.

The story is okay, it lagged in places (not enough syfy or sexual tension/attraction for me) and I didn't know if I wanted to finish it. I did (sigh) the ending was almost anticlimactic. Just an okay read not my favorite, I would probably pass on anything else by this Author. Just not for me.

This book was catalogued as science fiction and it would have been a nice read had it not been for the ridiculous romance thrown in the story. It really spoiled everything for me.
