About the author

Jean Adamson was a British writer and illustrator of children's books. She was best known for the Topsy and Tim books, the first of which was published in 1960 and which have sold 27 million copies. Adamson's creations were also featured widely on television in 84 episodes of Topsy and Tim.

Our little one was struggling to pay attention to Topsy and Tim Start School and her disinterest rubbed off on both her father and I. For a children's story book this one has an awful lot of words! We are planning on revisiting this with her when she's a bit older and is at the age where she will be starting school herself, as it does seem very reassuring for both parents and children, but as parents of a little one who isn't yet 18 months school still feels like a very distant nightmare...
