It's Mia's first party time at the fairy shop! She knows exactly what will happen because her big sister, Alice, has been to the fairy shop before--twice! But what happens when things don't go as Alice says? Grades 1-3
I normally love the Aussie Nibbles stories, but found this one a bit much. The main character Mia, is a precocious little girl that desperately wants to go to a party at the fairy shop. Her sister Alice has been twice already and has told her all that goes on at these parties. Mia then gets invited by her friend Emily's birthday party at the fairy shop, which she duly disrupts and I feel ruins the party for the other children. I could tell you now, if I had my birthday party and someone behaved as badly as Mia did, then I would be pretty hacked off and would have asked her to leave. I don't know why society deems this kind of behaviour as normal, and just Mia expressing herself - but it's just rude and wrong.
So at first I thought this book was just wrong, but then I realized that was the point. This is about when things go wrong. Lighten up when reading this, by the end I couldn't catch my breath I was laughing so much and couldn't finish reading it out loud. If as a parent you have ever had things go wrong, and then again go wrong, and more go wrong, and still something else go wrong, you will get this book.
